Excellence of Execution
I LOVE the new Republican slogan.

What they say: "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?"

What they mean: "Has Barack Obama been able to fix in 4 years the mess we created in 8 years? If not, put us back in charge so we can do the same things all over again!"

And Republican voters actually think this is a good idea.

The Republicans make problems in 8 years, Obama can't fix them in 4 years with a Congress that has literally done less than any other Congress in recorded American history, so let's give it back to the Republicans. The Congress can be blamed for a ton of the problems we've got right now as they could do A LOT to fix things but they just won't let it happen.

I'm reading Obama's and Romney's answers to ScienceDebate.org questionnaire, and I had to stop. Romney's answers were literally frustrating me.

In a nutshell: "We need to be more fiscally responsible. In order to improve our innovation, I support spending more money on scientific research and development, as well as lower tax rates and regulation across the board."

"We aren't sure if global warming is actually occurring, so let's just ignore it and invest more money in coal and oil, instead of that liberal Obama who supports those silly investments in clean energy."

"Teacher unions, with their interests in protecting the jobs of so many terrible teachers, are killing our educational system. I support [hold on, I want the exact quote] 'Policies for recruitment, evaluation, and compensation should treat teachers like the professionals they are, not like interchangeable widgets'."

I had to stop there. Good God, the man is flip-flopping on even his own statements.

I'm fine with the science research like going to Mars and all that when we have the money to do it. Right now, we flat out don't and there are many other thing that money couuld go to.

Yes, I'm better off than I was 4 years ago but I don't credit Obama. Just like I wouldn't blame Obama is I was worse off. I don't rely on government for my success, that sounds like a liberal mindset.

Also, I have a more positive outlook on America's future. The market is in much better shape, economic growth is slow but it is better then the 2008 contraction, health and the environment seems to be getting more attention and we are coming up with solutions for renewable self sustaining energy.

But most importantly, kids are not eating over 600 calories at lunch.

The unemployment rate is higher than in 2008.

Our national debt has increased more since 2008 than at any other time in U.S. history.

The average median household income is lower than in 2008.

Gas prices have nearly doubled.

I bought in to the hope and change nonsense in 2008, but not this time. I don't care for Romney much either, but he's the lesser of two evils.

If you blame Obama for this stuff, I feel sorry for you.

In February 2009, Obama's first full month of office, the unemployment rate was 8.3%. In July 2012, the last month we have statistics for, the unemployment rate was 8.3%. In Bush's last month of Presidency, our country lost 600,000 jobs...one month! In July 2012, the economy added 163,000 jobs, the 29th consecutive month jobs were created.

Try again.

False. If you're talking simple dollar amounts (which doesn't take into account inflation), yes. But if you're talking about percentage increase (you know, a much better measurement), the time period around World War 2 was much higher.

Yes, that's what happens in a recession in which you see high unemployment. Are you really saying that is the fault of those who came into power since 2008? That's silly, and I'm talking about for both Democrats and Republicans and anyone else.

Gas prices have nearly doubled.
:lmao:

Because the President has the power to grossly effect gas prices. You're just being silly now, especially since energy production in the US is as high as ever. Oh, and you're wrong.

Average price of gas in July 2008: $4.12
Average price of gas in July 2012: $3.37
Current average price of gas: $3.81

Perhaps you should reconsider, since some of the things you seem to be complaining about are things on which you are misinformed?

Hey remember when Obama said he was going to change things, & then also said that the change wasn't going to happen overnight & that it was going to be a long road but we'd get there eventually, welcome to the long fucking road.

I don't think it's going to really sink in how bad Bush and company screwed this company up for several years. We're going to look back at his time in office in awe of how bad things were getting and kept getting.

Humans (at least Americans) seem to have such a limited understanding of time. Too many people seem to think turning the economy around is as simple as flipping a light switch.

Think of it like this. Lexington is I think the 65th biggest city in America or somewhere in that range. During the last days of Bush's administration, everyone in this entire city (roughly 300,000 people) would have lost their jobs in the span of about two weeks. That's INSANE.

Way I fugure if we were so willing to give a colossal fuck up like Bush 2 terms to screw shit up, then it's only fair we give some one who comes across as intelligent, charismatic, & actually giving a shit about people two terms to fix, at least attempt to fix the fuck ups the Bush administration left in their wake, & get us back on track.

If it hadn't been for 9/11, I don't think Bush would have gotten a second term. 9/11 was the best thing to happen to his Presidency, even though all would agree (even Bush) it was a terrible thing.
