VGAT Ask a question also with news and tidbits

Thought I'd drop some news/tidbits here after watching some on TV:

* PlayStation 3 will be dropping its latest Firmware update on the coming month of June. It will feature quite the enhancement for your console as it will make it a 3D console. So far the need for a 3D TV to use said feature is said to be unnecessary. As an added bonus it will also enable your PS3D to play Blu-Ray discs. Also in 3D. Which has me wondering, just why in the blue freakin' hell would I buy a 3D TV for $4000 if I can get something close for free? Is the Firmware free? That is yet to be known. However one thing is for sure. The 3D glasses will not come with the download, you have to purchase them in your local Sony Store.

* Marvel VS Capcom 3 will not see the light through the Wii's eyes. Why? because they already have Tatsunoko VS Capcom. SHIT!! Hoping that changes as the release date draws closer. Yeah, now they choose reason over money. Assholes!

* After being in development for 2 years, DC Universe Online will be released in September. Unless they change their mind. The game will give you the ability to create a hero or villain to join the Justice League or Legion Of Doom respectively. Although you can not play as the great legends of the DC Universe they will play pivotal support roles in the story. The game looks to be extremely promising and they say that even though its an RPG it will be action over banter.

* Mortal Kombat 9 has a tentative release date of 25/Dec/2010. Highly unlikely, but who cares as long as we get MK back on its bloody roots as creator Ed Boon promised. So far 4 things have been confirmed about the game and the story is not one of them.

1) Sonya Blade and Kitana are the only confirmed characters as the voice actresses of Sonya and Catwoman in MK VS DC have confirmed they are the voices of the respectively mentioned.

2) Chameleon and Hsu Hao will not be featured in said game. Big deal. Or any other future game. RIP, Chameleon. Don't give a shit about Hsu Hao on other hand. He sucked.

- Nintendo have officially announced that they will be streaming their E3 press conference online via their official website at 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, June 15th. That is 5pm for the Brits.

All I can say is Woooooooo!

Also revealed is the Pokemon Black and white box art:

These boxes look pretty badass I must say, with a release date of Spring 2011 for the West and Christmas of this year for Japan things are shaping up quickly for this game.

i looked at gamestop and it said the only wrestling games for the pc were these really cheap ones.

does the wwe or tna have any wrestling games for the pc? smackdown vs. raw, etc?

The last official WWE game for the PC was WWF in your house, there has not been an official TNA game for PC yet.

I hope that helps

WWE RAW (the X-Box game, not the SNES/Genesis one) was ported over in 2002, at least in the States. Around the same time, WWE tried to release an online Collectible Card Game called With Authority, which didn't last long. I played them both once, but they weren't worth it. If you are looking for good wrestling games, go with a console (any of them).

For any Xbox 360 user out there, I have a question, if your Xbox drops with a game in it, and it's unplayable because of the rings from the dropping, how do you remove them?

How do you mean by "the dropping?" Do yo mean the red ring of death?

100% Bullshit

A rumor stemming from a French gaming website claims that Nintendo is set to reveal a new Wii at E3. Codenamed Wii Hi-Fi, the new Wii will apparently be of similar power to the Xbox 360, and have a strong focus on community and online gaming. Moreover, it is apparently scheduled for November 2011. It is clear that Nintendo will have to do something extra to counter the threat of Move and Natal, so this could be possible. And this isn't the first time we've heard rumors of a new Wii, back in 2009 we heard similar things (here).

Thanks to http://www.gameblog.fr/news_15992_e3...nnoncee-a-l-e3 (while we don't know the site well, it seems pretty popular in its region!).

I actually can't see this happening, why would they just update the Wii and not release a whole new console? Especially as it will be released 5 years after original release?

Maybe

Respected technology publication Wired and gaming publication Kotaku are reporting that details of Nintendo’s forthcoming 3DS console have been leaked on a Chinese bloggers website.

“The effect of the [3D] screen is amazing,” the blogger wrote, as translated by Kotaku.

The details come from someone who claims to have access to the 3DS development kit, Kotaku says. According to the report, the lower screen is the same size as the current Nintendo DS, but the upper screen is much bigger (and in 3-D, naturally).

They also posted a mock up:

This to me seems a weird rumour that the bottom would be the smaller screen, every report I've read has said the 3D screen would be the touch screen one, so why is the 3D at the top?

Credible

The rumors start flying around this time, just days before Nintendo pops the lid off its hugely secretive line-up at its E3 press conference. One of the wildest, but certainly credible, rumors we've just heard in the halls from those in the know: Retro Studios -- the Nintendo-funded studio that created Metroid Prime and its two sequels -- is now working its magic on a Wii game starring Donkey Kong.

Retro Studios' last released project was the Wii compilation Metroid Prime Trilogy and the last we spoke with them, the team was deep into its next project. "I think you'll be very excited when you find out what we're working on," the team told us last year without saying another word.

Donkey Kong is certainly a property that's a far cry from the mature Metroid franchise, but, if the rumors hold true, an attempt at a DK game could certainly stretch the team's creative muscles. The last Donkey Kong game was the Wii-remake of Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat from Nintendo's Tokyo team. Other external studios who have taken a crack at Donkey Kong include Rare with Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong 64, Namco with Donkey Konga, and Paon with DK King of Swing.

True or not, the Electronic Entertainment Expo begins on Tuesday, June 15th, with Nintendo's press conference beginning at 9 am PST.

About time we have a proper DK game, the oldest of Nintendo's franchises with some classic games, it's time we saw a real Wii incarnation.

Either way I can't wait until Tuesday for Nintendo's E3 announcements!
