USPW

Since its formation in 2001, United States Pro Wrestling has been one of America's fastest rising promotions, offering its fans a Origional product that has a great mix of 1980s wrestling nostalgia and Modern, High Flying and Technical Wrestling, with a Bit of Attitude thrown in! In August 2006, its owner Danny Jillefski realised that he had taken the company as far as he could, and struck a business deal with his friend, the legendary Sam Strong. Strong became the new owner, and his reputation alone got the company its first TV deal, resulting in a lot of new fans. Since then the promotion has gone from strength to strength, with its new owner quickly proving himself to be a surprisingly good businessman.

Roster: Part One

AlTheHillbilly.jpg

Al The Hillbilly

Alan "Al The Hillbilly" Dale is a big brawler from West Virginia who is absolutely terrible in the ring, his sole selling point being his enormous size. He is best known for his USPW tag team with his fictional cousin Pete The Hillbilly, a duo who were tag team champions at one point but nowadays reside firmly near the bottom of the card, playing the role of fan favourite curtain jerkers and resident comedy act. Prior to his run with USPW, Al worked solo for many years under the name Cousin Ezra, playing a kindly mountain man, although his only title success came in the tag team ranks, co-holding the TWL tag straps.

AliciaStrong.jpg

Alicia Strong

Alicia Strong certainly hasn't had to come up the hard way in the wrestling business; the daughter of the best known wrestler of all time, Sam Strong, she has all the right connections, and those connections allowed her to get exclusive training in Japan from the greatest female wrestler of all time, Sensational Ogiwara. The result is that Alicia has every advantage possible as she looks to become the best women's wrestler ever. Naturally, when she was ready to make her pro debut in April 2007, Sam Strong pulled out all the stops - not only did he sign her to a contract with his USPW promotion, he also created an entire womens division for her to compete in. The division has gone on to become a great success with fans, and Alicia seems well on her way to stardom.

AndreJones.jpg

Andre Jones

Andre Jones is a wrestler from North Dakota, who is best known for his time with the Supreme Wrestling Federation, which he joined in 2004 as a rookie. Originally a bland babyface curtain-jerker, he began to show more character when he became The Guru's lackey and chief interference runner. That relationship ended toward the end of 2006 when Jones switched allegiances to become the silent muscle backing up Frederique Antonio Garcia. Apparently unhappy at chiefly being used as a lackey and rarely pushed as a serious in-ring competitor, Jones asked for his release in late 2008. In April 2009 he resurfaced in Sam Strong's fast-rising USPW promotion, as a cocky heel, and by the end of the year had won his first major title, the USPW Television belt.

BelleBryden.jpg

Belle Bryden

Belle Bryden is better known as Wanda Fish, "Fish The Dish", one of the best all-rounders in the world of women's wrestling. She was a major player with the Angel Athletic Association for many years, racking up five separate Femme Fatale titles and headlining scores of shows. The reasons for her success are clear; she is the complete package as far as wrestling goes. She has a great look, fine skills, a strong work ethic, and is fantastic on the microphone. In August 2008 she was offered a lucrative and long-term contract by USPW, who were convinced that she was the missing ingredient in giving them a top quality women's division, which she signed. She has been working under the name Belle Bryden since.

BrucetheGiant.jpg

Bruce The Giant

Standing 7'4 and weighing 600lbs, Bruce The Giant is the biggest athlete on the planet, and has been one of the most dominant headline wrestlers in North America and Japan for almost two decades. In 2006, having spent the previous several years working in Japan, Sam Strong persuaded his good friend to head back to America to headline USPW, which Strong had just taken over. His hope was that he could use Bruce's star power to help set the company on a rise to the top. Bruce joined, and captured their world title on his very first appearance. Unfortunately he has not been able to be the dominant champion he was expected to be, as persistent knee problems have limited his involvement. However, even his occasional appearances have been more than enough to help USPW's cause dramatically.

Roster: Part Two

CaptainUSA.jpg

Captain USA

Captain USA (Lou Planner) is a veteran wrestler who, whilst not particularly good in the ring, has maintained a decent fan base thanks to his easy-to-cheer patriotic gimmick. His first taste of fame was in the now defunct Texas Wrestling League, where he had a long and successful career. From there he headed to the SWF, where he struggled to break out of the opening match slot, except for a short run as North American champion. He is now best known for being one of USPW's longest-serving stars, although over the years he has gone from being one of their biggest stars to a low-level worker who is used to pump up the crowd. Over 50, he is expected to announce his retirement soon.

CherryBomb.jpg

Cherry Bomb

The Canadian wrestler Cherry Bomb, whose real name is Sherie Guthrie, is an athletic competitor, noted for her hard-hitting style and great look. Short and muscular, she uses her low center of gravity to allow her to suplex much bigger women with apparent ease. She is especially famous for her psychotic interviews, which are as good as anybody in the business. Cherry was one of AAA's mainstays for many years, wrestling for them from 2003 to 2007, before leaving them to become one of the founding members of USPW's new womens division, where she has since established herself as the cornerstone of the division.

ChrisCaulfield_alt1.jpg

Chris Caulfield

"The Hardcore American" Chris Caulfield is a decent brawler, who is best known for his run as one of the icons of DAVE. He was brought into the company when his good friend Phil Vibert became the owner, and he went on to become one of the most popular members of the roster, with the fans appreciating his loyalty and work ethic. Not a great worker by any means, he managed to win the DAVE Unified title on a few occasions - however, the reigns were all short and mainly used for transitional purposes. When financial pressures finally put an end to DAVE's rise, Chris was left without a job, but that situation was soon rectified when Sam Strong personally handled the negotiations to bring him into USPW, a sign of how much he respected Caulfield's work ethic and loyalty.

DannyRushmore.jpg

Danny Rushmore

Danny "The Mountain" Rushmore is an old-school powerhouse style of wrestler, using his strength and size to beat down opponents with low-risk attacks. He's not a bad worker by any means, but he is pretty bland, which explains why he has spent most of his career strictly as a midcarder. In late 2006, as part of USPW's "rebirth", he was teamed up with Mick Muscles as The Towers Of Power, in the hope that they would gel together and become a dominant monster tag team - the strategy worked, as they have gone on to become a superb duo, winning the USPW tag titles on four occasions as of 2010, and becoming one of the promotion's most reliable acts.

Darryl-Devine-beard.jpg

Darryl Devine

"Mighty Fine" Darryl Devine is a good solid wrestler from Seattle. Making his pro debut in 2003, at the age of 20, it took him less than a year of show-stealing performances on the independent circuit to get people interested in him. He then became a regular both with United States Pro Wrestling and Canadian Charisma Championship Combat, giving him exposure on both sides of the border. In 2008 he prioritised, choosing to work solely for the much bigger USPW, although there are some who question whether he can ever truly become a force in a promotion that is so heavily populated with huge wrestlers when he is barely 230lbs himself. However his impressive Charisma and Work on The Mic could prove otherwise.

Roster: Part Three

DesDavids.jpg

Des Davids

6'5, 260lb Des Davids was a promising young football star in college until a back injury put an end to that career. Strong, quick and muscular, he has a lot of potential to be a good wrestler, and that was spotted by Rip Chord who quickly brought him into Mid Atlantic Wrestling. With Chord's guidance, Davids rapidly become a big star with MAW, and it wasn't long before bigger promotions came sniffing around. With Chord's blessing, Davids chose to head to USPW in the summer of 2007. Since joining Sam Strong's promotion, Davids progress has slowed somewhat, but he has established himself as a useful member of the roster and the company seems happy to build him up slowly.

Enygma.jpg

Enygma

Appropriately enough, Enygma is something of a mystery within the wrestling industry, being one of the very, very few wrestlers whose real identity is truly a secret, having never been caught without his mask. Almost nothing is known about him, not even where he was trained or by whom. He burst onto the scene out of nowhere in 2002, taking the SWF by storm with a two-year undefeated streak that saw him become one of the most over workers on the roster. He became world champion in 2004, but a badly booked reign and the loss of his streak blew his momentum and the next four years saw him essentially become stuck in a holding pattern, slipping further and further down the pecking order. In 2008, he was poached from the SWF on an obscenely large contract by USPW, which is seen as the official start of the war between the two companies.

FreddieDatsun.jpg

Freddie Datsun

"American Everyman" Freddie Datsun is a hard working and dependable wrestler who strangely never seems to get the credit he deserves for everything he has achieved and helped to build in the wrestling industry - for example, few remember that he was a key figure in establishing DAVE. Freddie is best known for his six years with the Supreme Wrestling Federation, where he had some memorable matches and angles. He left them in 2006 when his contract wasn't renewed, and was quickly snapped up by USPW, where he won the world title almost immediately. He has since fallen to his seemingly more natural position in the midcard as bigger stars have been brought in.

GiantRedwood.jpg

Giant Redwood
Giant Redwood (Jethro J Jonas) is a monsterous 465lb, seven foot behemoth, whose size almost makes up for his utter lack of talent in the ring. Almost. Redwood is well known throughout the wrestling world as one of the meanest, most devious men in the business, and a master of using politics to his advantage. He has been a fixture in USPW since its debut in 2001, and is a three time world champion - many are quick to point out that business was statistically much worse for the promotion during these title reigns. In recent years he has finally begun to slip down the card, as even his infamous politics can't hide the fact that age and recurring knee injuries have taken their toll.

Gorgon.jpg

Gorgon Rush

Alison "Gorgon" Rush is a powerhouse wrestler from Missouri, who is considered one of the most promising up-and-coming female American wrestlers in years. She broke into the business with the Angel Athletic Association, debuting in mid 2003. It didn't take long for her to make an impact, winning the tag team straps with Cherry Bomb as her partner. Since then she has continued to progress as both a worker and as a character, and even squeezed in a few years with 5SSW, where her power and look saw her become popular with the Japanese fans; sadly, the promotion could not afford to keep her around once business slumped in 2009, Luckily, USPW Was Looking For a Monster Female Worker to Dominate the Division, and was quickly signed.

Roster: Part Four

JumboJackson.jpg

Jackson Andrews

Aaron "Jumbo" Jackson was trained by "Everest" Elmer Kelly in 2000, and spent his rookie years wrestling as Jumbo Jackson for NYCW. He would later head to CGC in Canada, where he wrestled as Avalanche, tag teaming with his trainer and having much success. However, he got the chance for even greater fame in 2003, when he was repackaged as Jumbo Shrimp, one third of Lobster Warrior's Underwater Union in SWF. He went on to have much success as the fun loving goofy giant, and was one of the company's most popular midcard acts. The "commotion in the ocean" storyline - the implosion of the stable - took place in 2007 as a way to springboard Lobster Warrior to the main event, and also marked the end of Jumbo's stay with the SWF. He turned up in USPW in September 2007, and has gone on to become one of their main heels, he was once again Re-Packaged in Late 2009, as Jackson Andrews, A Tribute to the Great Canadian Wrestler of the same name.

Liberty.jpg

James Justice

James Justice is better known as Liberty, the former multi-time Total Championship Wrestling champion and long standing main eventer. After a disasterous heel turn in TCW did massive damage to his popularity, Liberty began sliding further and further down the card, with even a hasty face turn doing nothing to stop his fall. Although given both a big money contract extension offer and assurances that he would soon be back on top, he chose to leave the company in the summer of 2007 and instead sign with Sam Strong's USPW. Debuting under the name James Justice, and to much fanfare, he was quickly positioned as the new face of the promotion, and ended Bruce The Giant's year-long world title reign in October 2007 in USPW's biggest ever show.

Java.jpg

Java

Java is an ultra-menacing 300lb+ heavyweight brawler who was born in Indonesia, but was brought up on the mean streets of Chicago. He has never been a particularly great in-ring talent, but his size and genuinely scary appearance have meant he has always been able to get work. He is most closely associated with USPW, where he has been working since 2002 and has formed an excellent and successful tag team with Tribal Warrior, but many people don't know that he was one of PGHW's big foreign draws in the late 1990s, and actually has wins over Mito Miwa and Shuji Inukai to his name.

JesseGilbert.jpg

Jesse Gilbert

Jesse Gilbert is the twin brother of Joe Gilbert, two Canadian high fliers who are noted for using a hockey-inspired gimmick. Having developed their skills on the Montreal independent circuit, they made their way to the States in late 2004, and soon found a home with CZCW. Over the course of the next year, they captured the company's tag titles on two occasions. Shortly after losing the belts, in January 2006, they headed back across the border to join Canadian Golden Combat, where they had three solid (if unremarkable) years as mainstays of the midcard. They left in 2009 to seek new challenges with USPW.

JimForce.jpg

Jim Force

Face-painted powerhouse Jim Force is a former national champion bodybuilder, who first came to attention with the SWF in the Early 2000s, winning two North American titles and coming very close to the world title on several occasions. He was eventually released in 2002, when even the great SWF booking team of that era could no longer hide the fact that his in-ring skills were sub par compared to the rest of the roster. Force wound up in USPW by 2003, where he first debuted his face-paint look. Thanks to his SWF exposure, he was instantly promoted as one of the promotion's biggest names, and became a multi-time champion.

Roster: Part Five

JoeGilbert.jpg

Joe Gilbert

Joe Gilbert is the twin brother of Jesse, who have teamed together (always using their trademark hockey-inspired gimmick) since turning pro in 1998 and established themselves as a decent high-flying tandem. They first came to fame in 2004, working for CZCW in the US, where they were very successful and held the tag team titles on two occasions. They would then head home to Canada in 2006 to join CGC, where they found gainful employment in the midcard ranks for three years. In 2009 they headed to USPW, looking for a fresh challenge.

MickMuscles.jpg

Mick Muscles

The former body builder Mick Muscles is a heavyweight wrestler from Vermont, who is noted for his power and chiseled physique. Throughout his career he has been considered to be a star-in-waiting, but it has never really happened, possibly due to the fact that he is fairly bland and lacks that magic "X factor" ingredient. In 2006 he captured the USPW world title and it looked like it may be the start of something, but he lost it very quickly. In late 2006 he was teamed up with Danny Rushmore as The Towers Of Power, in the hope that they would turn into a dominant monster heel tag team - four tag team title reigns in four years suggests that it worked. The Towers have become one of USPW's most reliable midcard acts.

NickyChampion.jpg

Nicky Champion

Nicky "Hawkeye" Champion originally came through the short-lived USPW training school, one of only two graduates to make it to the full roster. That was in 2004, and he would spend the next two and a half years saddled with the abysmal "Tom E Hawk" gimmick, stuck in the lower reaches of USPW shows. When Sam Strong took over in 2006, he saw the youngster as having the potential to be "the next Sam Strong", and so had him reinvented as the more dynamic Nicky Champion instead. As Strong's "project", Nicky has flourished, and is now seen as a lock to eventually become USPW world champion and the promotion's lead babyface.

PeteTheHillbilly.jpg

Pete The Hillbilly

Peter McCann is a burly 320lb brawler from Memphis, who nowadays is probably best known as Pete The Hillbilly, part of the USPW tag division with Al The Hillbilly. The big red-head is fairly poor in the ring, being clumsy and slow, but continues to get employed because of his size. He originally came to "fame" as Farmer's Boy Pete in Southern Championship Class Wrestling, which is where he first originated his dim-witted country boy character.

PeterValentine.jpg

Peter Valentine

Peter Valentine is the man everyone loves to hate. The former body builder was brought straight into Total Championship Wrestling by his close friend Sam Strong, without having to pay any dues first, and despite being absolutely awful in the ring he went on to win many titles and be one of the company's biggest stars thanks to Strong's influence. In 2006, having spent a year struggling in TCW without any political allies to help him, he left to join USPW, which just happened to have recently been taken over by Sam Strong. Despite still sucking, he has continued to command a position high up on the roster. In 2009, the company even brought back the USPW National title from wherever dead titles go to rest in peace, specifically so that Valentine could win it.

Roster: Part Six

RavenNightfall_alt2.jpg

Raven Robinson

"The Angel Of The Dark" Raven Nightfall (Louisa Robinson) is a top female worker, who first came to fame in the AAA where she was one of the brightest stars and a former champion. Such was her success and appeal that USPW came calling and signed her up to an exclusive deal to be part of their women's division. When in USPW, she uses the ring name Raven Robinson. A competent, solid performer in the ring, what gives Raven the edge is that she has a fantastic look, and plays her gothic gimmick to absolute perfection. It is known that she used to date CZCW sensation Plague, AKA Black Eagle, but they broke up when he headed to Japan to work for BHOTWG full-time.

T-Rex_alt1.jpg

T-Rex

T-Rex, "The Jurassic Power", is a massive wrestler who is absolutely loaded with menace. Pretty much the very definition of a monster heel, he made his pro debut for DAVE in 1998, but at that point was so poor in the ring that the company's management shoved him into a ringside bodyguard role until he improved. Rex left DAVE in 2004 to join USPW, seeking a fresh start, knowing that USPW was traditionally a promotion where big men were well promoted. Although he is still very limited in the ring, this has not stopped him becoming one of USPW's major heels, and he is a former USPW champion.

TribalWarrior.jpg

Tribal Warrior

The Tribal Warrior is a Samoan powerhouse, rumoured to be one of the strongest men in pro wrestling. He is a throwback to the monster heels of old, dominating opponents with viciousness and raw strength, and that has kept him in regular work since his debut in 1990. He is best known in America for his work with USPW, where he has been a long time partner of the equally scary Java - perhaps the most genuinely bad ass duo in the history of pro wrestling - and had huge success in the tag team ranks, but he also made lots of appearances in Japan over the course of his career, usually on tour with BHOTWG.

TysonBaine.jpg

Tyson Baine

Tyson Baine is the wrestler better known as BLZ Bubb, a big menacing powerhouse from Canada who is known for his intimidating, somewhat demonic look. After struggling on the independent scene for years as The Angel Of Death, he got his big break when TCW signed him to their debut roster. He was repackaged as BLZ Bubb, an almost unstoppable monster heel, and got hugely over, even winning the world title in 1998. Although that would prove the peak of his TCW career, he remained in or around the main event scene for the remainder of his time with them, and even turned face in 2007 (which saw him change his ring name to Tyson Baine). Unfortunately, his hugely lucrative contract meant that TCW could not afford to re-sign him in 2009 as they were going through financial issues, and so he accepted Sam Strong's big money offer to join USPW instead.

Agent69.jpg

Zoe Ammis
Zoe Ammis is a pretty good young wrestler with a decent pedigree, having been trained in Canada by the DeColt family, and looks to have a bright future ahead of her in the wrestling industry. When she first broke into the business she worked almost exclusively under the name Agent 69, running a fun spy gimmick. When she was signed by USPW in 2009, she dropped the gimmick and started wrestling under her given name.

Roster: Part Seven

And The Other Guys!

CorporalDoom.jpg

Commissioner Doom

Way back in his youth, Corporal Doom was one of the best and most over heel characters in the entire of North America, and much in-demand by promoters everywhere. He even managed to capture the SWF world champion in 1978, beating Micky Starr. After losing the belt to Sam Strong in 1980 his career took a downturn though, and he never again reached those dizzy heights. He continued to wrestle all the way into his fifties, and was a solid, consistent performer for many promotions over the years. He finally retired from active competition in late 2007, but wasn't out of the spotlight for long; he swiftly was repackaged as Commissioner Doom, the USPW's on-screen authority figure.

DannyJillefski_alt2.jpg

Danny Jillefski

Danny Jillefski first found fame as an announcer for SWF during the late 1990s, although he was fired by 2000 after a very public falling out with Richard Eisen. He went on to form USPW in 2001, and he proved himself to be a decent business man, leading them to a lot of success. In 2006 he stepped aside to let his friend Sam Strong take over the company, realising that this was best for the promotion's future, returning to the Commentary Booth

MickyStarr.jpg

Mickey Starr

"Mighty" Micky Starr is a legendary wrestler from the 1970s and 80s. Breaking through in the American Pro Wrestling Federation, where he was a two time champion during the promotion's hottest period, he would find legend status when he moved to the Supreme Wrestling Federation in 1972. It was his lengthy world title reign that helped establish the company, and give it the foundation for its eventual national domination. Now retired, he works as The Colour Commentator for USPW.

SamStrong.jpg

Sam Strong

Veteran Sam Strong is without doubt the most iconic and successful wrestler of his generation, and is known throughout the wrestling world. Although his matches were often terrible, his charisma and look made him a hero to millions. He retired from active competition in 2005. Shortly afterward he became the owner of USPW, and his name value alone gave the promotion a massive boost. He is now hoping to make them a genuine threat to the "big two", SWF and TCW.

ShaneSneer.jpg

Shane Sneer

Shane Sneer is a veteran of the wrestling business, who is nowadays best known as a colour commentator or manger for USPW. Older fans will know that he used to be one of the best managers around, working for a variety of promotions, usually heading his heel group, The Sneer Corporation. Between 1998 and 2003 he was also the owner of Southern Championship Class Wrestling, an attempt to run a true old-school southern promotion in Tennessee, which is fondly remembered by some fans.

SheikMustafa_alt.jpg

Sheik Mustafa

Sheik Mustafa was born in Iraq, but moved to the United States as a student in the late 1960s, and has now lived in Maryland for over 30 years. He is perhaps best known for being a top heel in the Texas Wrestling League during the eighties, although to modern audiences he is associated with United States Pro Wrestling, where he is a former world champion. He retired from active competition in 2006, at the age of 56, and now works primarily as a generic heel manager.

This looks really interesting. Am loving the roster. Enygma is my favourite - and he appears to be World Champion too! Good luck.
