Unscripted 2014 Discussion: Los Magnificos Dragones (c) vs. Demon Foreigners

Getting Noticed By Management

The Demon Foreigners have risen to become number one contenders, but now they must face the new tag team champions, Los Magnificos Dragones! Who will stand as the tag team champions when this one is over? The WZCW Universe will choose a stipulation for this title match! Will it be a tornado tag, an elimination match, or lucha libre rules?

Los Mag Drags will go down as one of the best tag teams in WZCW history.

So, for the Demon Foreigners, this is going to be a huge challenge. They've lost to LMD before as well as to the other tag teams so they haven't had the best of luck but this is their chance to prove their worth. Having any title or major stipulation added to a match can really change one's motivation/determination to RP for a match and considering LMD just came off a victory against Strikeforce (regardless of their turmoil), if I had to pick a match the Foreigners could do something amazing, this is it.

As a betting man though, I cannot go for the underdog story:

Prediction: LMD retains

P.S - Any match stipulation will be excellent. A regular tag team match wouldn't do much justice and adds an extra exciting element to the match.

I think Tornado tag will be a bitch to write, but provides more double-teaming. Write, creative monkeys! ;)

Real talk, Strikeforce has only lost three non title tag matches. First to Holmes & Constantine, second to Saxton and Saboteur, and last week against LMD. That puts them in rare air.

I'm expecting LMD to retain here. The Demon Foreigners have good potential, but they haven't fully gelled as a team while LMD has been growing from strength to strength. If this was All or Nothing, DF might have been more ironed out and threatening, but giving it to the champs to retain.

As for match type, I'm up for seeing the rare match type we haven't seen: Lucha Rules.

Am I correct in believing that lucha rules means going to the floor is the same as a tag? Or is there a different set of lucha rules that I don't know?

I'm a bit sketchy on what the Lucha Rules are too. I still voted for it, because I think it'll be interesting to read.

The rules of lucha libre are similar to American singles matches. Matches can be won by pinning the opponent to the mat for the count of three, making him submit, knocking him out of the ring for a predetermined count (generally twenty) or by disqualification. Using the ropes for leverage is illegal, and once a luchador is on the ropes, his opponent must release any holds and he will not be able to pin him.

Disqualifications occur when an opponent uses an illegal hold, move (such as the piledriver, which is an illegal move in lucha libre and grounds for immediate disqualification, though some variations are legal in certain promotions), or weapon, hits his opponent in the groin (faul), uses outside interference, attacks the referee, or rips his opponent's mask completely off. Most matches are two out of three falls (de dos a tres caídas), which had been abandoned for title bouts in North America and Japan in the 1970s.

A rule unique to lucha libre applies during tag team matches, which is when the legal wrestler of a team touches the floor outside the ring, a teammate may enter the ring to take his place as the legal competitor. As the legal wrestler can step to the floor willingly, there is essentially no need for an actual tag to a teammate to bring him into a match. This often allows for much more frenetic action to take place in the ring than would otherwise be possible under standard tag rules.

Per Wikipedia because I'm too lazy to find something more "unique" for information.

So basically 2/3 falls, 20 count on the outside, and if you exit the ring it counts as a tag.

Thanks, Ty.

The 2/3 falls aspect really weighs it in favor of LMD. I do believe that anyone can lose on any given day, but beating LMD twice is a tall order.

With all due respect to the Demon Foreigners, LMD should have this. They are a special team, the kind that doesn't come along very often. The Full House Daves, Gareth Black and Phoenix, Strikeforce. LMD are in that category, and they're going to be champions for a while, unless an upset comes out of nowhere.
