Unpopular Film/TV/Music/Video Games Opinions

I swear Boromir had more character development in Fellowship Of The Ring (and that 5 minute part from the extended Two Towers) than any of the other characters did in three films

I'd agree, but that's because all the others started out as paragons of virtue and finished up as paragons of virtue. It's why I'll always like the Fellowship more, despite the more heavy action in the later two, I couldn't have cared less whether they succeeded or failed, or lived and died.

An Unexpected Journey > Fellowship of the Ring

I agree. Aside from Boromir and the flashback to the War of the Last Alliance, I found Fellowship to be largely boring.

Pah, this is purely hipster opinion. Fellowship has Sean Bean in it. Richard Armitage is a poor replacement.

I've been somewhat disappointed in Armitage and the portrayal of Thorin thus far. I think the actor has retained too posh an accent and the stretching of the Hobbit to three films has meant the lessening of the impact of Oakenshield's obsession.

Actually the entire LOTR trilogy is worth watching just for Boromir's last stand and Pelennor Fields.

That is the perhaps the one major problem with the story-telling in the LOTR. Aside from Boromir, the Fellowship is too perfect. Aside from Boromir, the only character who shows any real deviation from their original nature is Frodo when he fails in his quest and claims the Ring for himself. The other Hobbits I suppose prove to be more heroic than first suggested but there was nothing out of the expected there.

More friction beyond banter between Gimli and Legolas would have brought something to the party. Actually, the Legolas and the dwarves of Desolation would have been more compelling in LOTR.

An actual use of the death of Boromir to prove that the Fellowship was not invincible would have helped. There were very few times where you thought any of the main characters were actually in peril. I think even Jackson realised that by introducing the Elves at Helm's Deep to kill someone off.

Don't get me wrong, the Siege of Minas Tirith is great stuff as is the arrival and Charge of the Rohirrim and the end of Theoden/Witch King but the arrival of the Dead Men of Dunharrow just ruins the whole thing.

More should have been made of the dire straights that the Rohirrim and the defenders of Minas Tirith were in before the arrival of Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas on the captured Corsair ships. Then the Dead Men should not have been portrayed as ghostly cavalry swarming the entire battlefield, devouring every enemy like locusts. Instead, they should have been a small but powerful infantry force that struck the besiegers on their exposed flank and relieved the city before turning to help the stricken Rohirrim.

Yeah, I always forget about the dead folks, you know its bad that you have to defend Aragorn not sending them into Mordor because "well, Frodo and Sam are in there, and, erm, yeah..."

Isn't the guy who played him play Lurtz and The Witch King

I couldn't tell you, I just saw the guy and instantly thought Martin Clunes

Didn't get the hype for Bioshock, having played through the first two.

I hate pretty much any american sitcoms. Friends is the only one that gets a pass for being well written in parts, but I still can't stand it nor the format. HIMYM can piss the shit off. Horse shit. And Big Bang Theory.

Neither Ricky Gervais nor Steven Merchant are particularly funny. I don't understand the scale of their success.

Loads of TV series out now do nothing for me conceptually. Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Spartacus, Walking Dead. Some of them just sound mind-numbingly boring.

Movie 43 was the worst piece of bullshit ever created, And I can tell from watching the trailers and looking at their wikipedia page!

And, I actully would love to watch Free Birds.

I actually watched Movie 43 the other night and didn't completely hate it. The speed dating with Robin, batman, supergirl and Wonder Woman had some funny moments.

The story with the kid being home-schooled and his parents 'recreating' the full school experience was good too.

I blame Christopher Nolan for the large amount of sequels/reboots that have been happening recently
