Undertaker In The Way

I always look forward to Taker's return because it's always done pretty well overall. Taker would only be "in the way", if he wasn't able to do his job as well as he does. The intention was to bring him back slowly over time, do the whole light flickering thing in the middle of Punk's matches or promos, throw out the bell gong thing and build it up over a period of weeks. Then, of course, Jeff Hardy goes and does the surpemely stupid move of leaving the biggest wrestling company in the world in the middle of the biggest push in his career. This means, the WWE has to scrap everything they had planned for Hardy and rush the Undertaker's return and soon.

This is CM Punk's 3rd reign as WHC and has yet to have a sustained feud with a legitimate main event wrestler. Punk is a main eventer now and in order to be felt as a true main eventer by the fans, he NEEDS to have a feud with someone that's not only already there but has been there for a long time. Big Show and Jericho are in the tag division helping to rebuild it, Edge is out for what looks to be a good chunk of next year, Mysterio is out for 30 days for a WP violation, so there's nobody really left but the Undertaker to give Punk the rub that he needs. Even if there were other choices, the Undertaker is still the best option. He's still one of the most over faces on the WWE roster, he's been in the main event scene for years, he can still perform at a very high level in the ring and he's a legend.

By the time the feud with the Undertaker is all said and done, Punk will be even more over than he already is. Whether he ultimately comes out of the feud in the end as the overall loser, he'll still look like a million bucks. It'll be a great feud with great matches so just sit back, enjoy and watch Punk's career and rep skyrocket even more.

Wow just because there is a thread titled "Undertaker, Just retire already," is enough to make an old school fan go insane. I rarely post in these forums, although I am a fan of what the "smart fan" has to say, but I felt a need to do so this time. I really just have one thing to say... When take retires, WWE will suffer a lot more than people think... I for one have become a bit bored with the repetitive product on RAW, and I am not a huge fan of the pushes going on in Smackdown (Ziggler, JOhn Morrison). The Undertaker is one of the only guaranteed draws WWE has... Let's face it... he is one of the two wrestlers with HBK who keeps the old school fans watching... I am one of them, and I am sure many can agree. Yes, he does not really fit in with the new day wrestlers with no gimmicks, and modified wrestling moves, but he is still the Undertaker... He gets the most pops out of everyone, and I believe that is why he can just come back and get a title shot. Breaking Point is a new Pay-Per-View notion for WWE... Does anyone here really think that Morrison vs. CM Punk in a Submission match can headline a PPV? Yes they can steal the show, but Morrison needs more time to develop his character, and the fans need more time to accept him as a main eventer. I will probably never accept him as a legit main eventer.... then again I never accepted Cena either... now where am I? Feeling like I wasted 40 bucks everytime John Cena walks out of a Pay-Per-View as the champion....
In conclusion.... DON'T BE P'OED CUZ TAKER MADE HIS RETURN THE WAY HE DID....

Ok, Here is what I think should happen with the Punk/Taker feud:

I think Taker will put punk over in the next two PPV, in matches you think Taker would win, being the Submission match, and Hell in a Cell. Then at Bragging Rights, I can see Taker taking the title from Punk. This would give Punk some good creditability having feuded with one of WWE's all-time biggest names, and a good 3 month title reign.

Further more, have the Taker/Punk feud play out a bit longer, throwing JoMo in the mix at times, having a 3-way feud. I think some JoMo vs. Taker would be some awesome matches, two great stylistic wrestlers. I do believe if Taker takes the WHC from Punk, he will eventually drop it to Jericho at the Rumble, so he can get into a feud with Edge for Wrestlemania for the title. But Taker and Jericho could feud with younger talent like Punk and Morrison, maybe even Hardy leading up to that.

I would also love to see this develop into a long feud with Punk and The Undertaker, hopefully even bringing them into a grudge match at Wrestlemania. That would be a great Wrestlemania, two good matchs: Taker vs. Punk, and Jericho vs. Edge for the WHC. Maybe give JoMo that Money in the Bank victory.

This would set in place some good entertainment for later this year.
