UFC 167 - St-Pierre vs. Hendricks ft. Chael Sonnen

I had it 1, 2, 4 for Hendricks. GSP really didn't do too much in the first besides that opening takedown and the almost Guillotine that it looked like Hendricks might have tapped to. The rest of the of the round I thought Hendricks imposed his gameplan better, landed that left, those elbows, and those knees, which did damage.

Two of the judges gave GSP round one.

I can't wait to re-watch.

Round 1 was close, but I think Hendricks was definitely the winner. At the same time, I don't see Hendricks winning round 2. If I remember correctly, Hendricks had a roughly 30 second window where he tagged GSP hard, but other than that, GSP basically did what he wanted.

I thought Round 2 was pretty even with both guys getting offense in but I thought Hendricks edged it where he significantly rocked GSP.

I think this was one of those fights that the winner was determined by the judging system. If you score the fight on the whole, Hendricks won, but under the 10 point must system GSP took it. The rounds Hendricks won, I felt we won by a much wider margin than the rounds GSP won, but I would have given it to GSP 48-47 if I were a judge.

Chris Weidman showed the World how you beat a Champion in a combat sport. In a really close fight, which GSP/Hendricks undoubtedly was, you give the edge to the champion come decision time, always and forever. That's the way it is and that's the way it should be. Happened in the Jones/Gus fight, and it happened here; justifiably so in both cases.

With that said, Hendricks did a whole lot better than I ever expected. Major props to him.

Also, fuck Dana White for jumping down GSP's throat for wanting to take some time off. GSP has done more for that company than ANYONE, and Dana is a true scumbag to throw such a bitch fit simply because GSP wants to take a break.

Exactly how I feel.
