UFC 120 LD - We're Just Watching for Bruce Buffer Introducing Dan Hardy

I take it your not a Condit fan then? I thought the fight was excellent and by far the best fight of the night so far.

I'm a Condit fan, but I felt the home-country advantage with the energy of the crowd would help Hardy through the fight. He just got caught where no fighter wants to be caught. Yeah, it was a good fight, but it definately wasn't what I expected, or even wanted to see tonight. Condit definately deserves at least consideration for a title shot after tonight.

Okay. I wouldn't go as far as saying he should be considered for a title fight since their are still two guys well ahead of him and maybe even a third person. But he is certainly on the short list of guys who are in the running for a title shot eventually. He just needs another big win, maybe against whoever doesn't get GSP next, meaning Fitch or Shields.

I love how half the drunk chicks near Mark and Joe are trying to reach those high notes in Yoshi's song and are failing miserably.

WOO HOO!!!! The Count is here!

Condit/Fitch for number 1 contender makes sense if/when Shields beats Kampmann.

See my only problem with this though is that Dana already said the winner of Fitch/Alves would get the next shot, and after Fitch won Dana started saying how Shields was going to get it. I don't mind either guy fighting for the belt, but I will be a little upset if Shields does indeed get the shot over Fitch who was told he would get the next title fight. Just another example of Dana saying shit and then not backing it up.

I'm not saying you're wrong on that, I just never heard Dana say that about the Alves/Fitch fight. I don't see how Alves would get a rematch for the belt after be dominated by GSP just the fight before. Don't get me wrong I think Fitch is deserving of a title shot, for his string of wins since the GSP loss. But If it is true that is bull that Dana did do that to Fitch.

Doug Crosby is apparently allowed to judge again after trolling The Underground when explaining his 50-45 score for Edgar/Penn I.

It was on Sherdog around UFC 117, I will try and find it, but yeah I agree. It didn't make much sense, at least not for Thiago Alves. Had he won and got a title shot I would have been beyond livid.

Add another No. 1 contender match to Saturday's UFC 117 card in Oakland, Calif.

At press conference on Thursday, UFC president Dana White announced that the winner of the welterweight bout between Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves will earn a title shot.

"These two guys are gonna face off, and the winner of this fight will fight against the winner of Koscheck-St. Pierre for the title," White said. "And yes, Jon Fitch will fight Koscheck if he wins."

St. Pierre and Koscheck are opposing coaches on the upcoming season of "The Ultimate Fighter," which debuts on Sept. 15 on Spike TV. The two will square off on an as-yet-to-be announced fight card in December.

Koscheck is a teammate of Fitch's at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Calif., and the two have expressed opposition toward fighting one another despite both being highly ranked in the UFC's 170-pound division.

When asked about a potential matchup with Koscheck on Thursday, Fitch instead chose to focus on his clash with Alves.

"I have a big fight ahead of me on Saturday night, and that's the focus of my attention. Anything in the future will be dealt (with) in the future," he said.

St. Pierre owns previous unanimous decision victories over all of his potential future opponents: Koscheck at UFC 74, Fitch at UFC 87 and Alves at UFC 100.

Fitch-Alves has been delayed several times already, and the Ft. Wayne, Ind., native is looking forward to the opportunity to step into the Octagon against the American Top Team product.

"This is a huge fight for me. It's the biggest fight possible for me right now," Fitch said. "It's been the biggest fight for the last 6-8 months or however long they've been trying to put it together. I'm just happy that Thiago is healthy and we're able to get this fight and get it underway.

"The consensus No. 2 and No. 3 in the world and we've been that way for a long time. A lot of fans have been asking for this fight for a long time. It needs to happen."

It's the second bout on the card for No. 1 contender status. It had been previously announced that the Roy Nelson-Junior dos Santos winner will earn a heavyweight title shot against the Oct. 23 winner of Brock Lesnar-Cain Velasquez at UFC 121 in Anaheim, Calif.
