Triple H vs The Undertaker I or II or III?

Very simple question, which of their 3 wrestlemania encounters was your favorite?

was it their arena wide brawl in which we saw HHH and taker brawl all over the asterdome, taker chokeslamming hhh of the camera tower, a super elbow, tombstones, sledgehammers and taker´s best bike entrance?

or was it hhh facing off 10 years later, when both of them just came back to face each other in a match we saw them go through the cole mine, back drops from tables to the floor, 3 pedigrees, a tombstone on the undertaker, hhh tapping out and the undertaker being carried out?

or was it the end of an era match in which we saw hbk referee a match in which i thought the streak would end after the sweet chin music/pedigree combination, sledgehammers, hellsgates, hell in a cell, multiple near falls and an embrace by the 3 men at the end of the match.?

in my opinion it was the third match that does it for me, it was just awesome, MATCH OF THE YEAR FOR SURE! perfect ending, hell of a story that closes the dx vs undertaker feud

For me it is the 3rd one.

"The Last Outlaw" The Undertaker vs. "The Game" Triple H inside Hell in a Cell with "The Heart Break Kid" Shawn Micheals as Special Guest Referee at WrestleMania 28 where the Undertaker went 20-0.

Wow, mouthful. Damn good build and Match. It told a story the whole way through. "I loved it. So many jumping spots where I though it would end. Just great match.

Definitely the third one.

I was actually at WM28 and got to see that match in person, and if that is the last WWE event I ever go to, then I'm glad I saw that match. It was amazing: the storytelling, the brutality, the finishers. I seriously thought the streak was over when Shawn superkicked Taker right into a Pedigree, and I swear, pretty much the whole crowd was on their feet from that point on.

The second match was good, but can't stack up to the third, and their first match is forgettable compared to its successors.

The third.

Some of the best story telling I've ever seen in a match. I wasn't that excited about the rematch initially, but it ended up being my favorite of the night.

First one gets lost in a stacked card. Solid match, nothing overly special.

Second one was fantastic.

Third one was perfect. They made us doubt them, they made the story complex at times, but it got personal. And there was no reason for us to doubt them.

Best instance of story-telling in the ring we have seen in years, if not, ever at a WrestleMania. Unreal.

For me all three were special but if I'm only allowed one then I choose the third. They beat each other down so bad that the guys on the roster now truly know that taker and hhh are the last of a dying breed. All Cena and the rock could do is watch how true wrestlers perform on the grandest stage of all. @pepentorreshhh very good question considering a lot of people forget about the 1st match they had at mania.

i have to go with round III. all 3 matches were awesome and memorable but the brutality and the drama from all 3 men was just perfect. hbk really sold everything well and there were a few times i thought undertaker was done, especially the super kick to pedigree combo. everything was done right in this match and the intensity of it had my heart rate going. wm28, wm27 & wm17. thats how i would rank them.

Sure a lot of people jumping on this Taker'/HHH bandwagon, considering a lot of you were complaining, well, pretty much since August that "oh my gawd they should never do this match again, it's gonna suck, there's no story, blah blah blah"

Just Sayin'.

I've only seen the second one, and that was pretty sick. So I'll have to remain undecided until I see the other two.

The htird one was the best. That match was awesome. During the second one at wmania 27, i thought that the streak might end when triple h tombstoned taker, but it only crossed my mind for a second. But when hhh hit the pedigree after hbk's superkick, it genuinely thought that the streak was over. So the third takes it for me

I guess I will pick the 3rd one with the 2nd match being at a close 2nd place. I too thought the streak was over when he got superkicked then pedigree'd and as I said in another topic a few days ago, the storytelling in the match was FANTASTIC! We even got to see some blood. Wonderful match!

I'm going against the masses here and picking the first one. I knew this question would get asked after Wrestlemania and made it a point to go back and watch their first 2 matches again right before watching Wrestlemania last Sunday. My problem with the third one was I never believed going in that HHH would win and I never doubted during the match. It was a lot of HHH trying to get HBK to call the match, why didn't HHH just try to pin Taker? That bothered me about III and still does. The second one was good but it was a few big moves and nothing else, where I tend to prefer matches that have a more continuous flow (HBK/Taker Hell in a Cell from Bad Blood instead of Taker/Mankind HIAC, that mentality). The first one was more excitement from bell to bell. Plus it was back in a time when "the streak" wasn't as pivotal a part of the storyline. The match stood alone. While all 3 were good, I'm giving the nod here to the first installment.

the 1st one had a much better build up. the promo's were better, the in ring action was better the only thing that was better in 2 and 3 is the storytelling while in the match

I haven't seen the 1st one in years butI think I'm going to have to go with the mass majority and say the third one, the 2nd one was great but at the same time it was kind of slow which for the two was a good pace, but in the third one I believed they were pulling out all the stops. What was even better is that I think I rember in the first match Charles Robinson the referee got knocked and ironically he got chokeslammed in this match lol. I don't know if they did that on purpose but it was a nice touch for me. But I was one of the people who was kind of iffy that they were wrestling a 3rd time because I didnt think they could top it. I was dead freaking wrong. If this is Undertaker and or Triple H's last match, they did it in a good way.

Number 3,

It was the best of the 3 Imo,

The story told in the ring was the best, the buildup was good, not as good as 1 or 2,

But there were moments where I thought the streak was over in 2 and 3,

2 (Tombstone on Taker)

3 (The chairshots where I thought HBK would call it, and the Sweet Chin Music into the Pedigree)

And from the two I liked the HIAC better.

DEFINATELY NUMBER 2!!!!!!!!!!

They were all great but 1st was all 90's arena brawl and 3rd had alot more to do with HBK and the emotion/ending an era.

The 2nd was truely TRIPLE H VS. THE UNDERTAKER at their BEST! High impact match with awesome spots and very "Jumping Out of You Seat" ending. Also I believe this was the only one where HHH used the tombstone on Taker, AWESOME SPOT! Also while most would say this doesn't matter, they both had the sickest entrances that night and in my opinion thier career, which I believe at mania is important because it is that big match feel and spectical that helps create the entertainment and energy!!!

well the third one by far it was an awesome match and told a great story and agree with everyone with what they said about the third match just epic and blew the past 2 out of the park.

Maybe it was because of my shitty stream, but I didn't get into the third match as much as everyone else. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely enjoyed it, but I still thought the second match was the better one. There were more high spots, greater intensity, a better story IMO and a better ending (Taker not being able to leave under his own power). To have Taker this year help carry out HHH - that didn't make sense to me and lacked the continuity of the Taker character.

2nd match was the best IMO.

2nd because the 3rd was boring and predictable... I could tell the way they were telling the story was too textbook... You guys say perfect, I say predictable... I don't want a perfect story, I need some holes so I can have interest in wondering why, I need an edge & the 2nd match had that... Plus it was the last real Undertaker match with his long hair... I mean when Undertaker took off his robe @ WM28 King goes "OMG What Happened To The Undertaker" And I am like he's balding & got fat... That's about it...

I had to reply to this to you because thus far you are the only other person that I have seen that was bothered by HHH trying to get HBK to stop the match. The only time I thought Taker might lose was the chin music pedigree combo. I see why they had all the interaction with HBK, but it just bothered me about the match. The part where I differ from you is my choice of match. Mine would be number 2. HHH's entrance gave me goosebumps right off the bat, and taker's was great to coming down to Cash. The match was more action packed I think than you are giving it credit for, and I really thought throughout that the streak was over. Great story told as well in that Taker won the fight, but had to be carried out. I loved this years match, and the first one, but to me the second was the total package.

The third one.

Everybody wanted to see these two in a Hell in a Cell match for a long time, the build up for it was epic, it had great action in it, great storytelling and all the kickouts I marked for especially the one after HBK and HHH Superkicked & Pedrigeed him. I almost wept throughout it cause it was just awesome.

The 3rd match was the best.

I went with #3 simply because of exceeding expectations. That's without me even getting started on the emotions shown or the story they told in the ring. Sure, the first match was great. The second one, I was unsure if I even wanted to see it or not. We had already seen them in a Wrestlemania match, so why do it again? The entrances were awesome and the match saved an otherwise horrible Wrestlemania.

This year I absolutely did not want to see a third match. At first. Then Michaels got picked as the guest ref. Suddenly, I was more interested. The match became a Hell In a Cell match. Ok, NOW they had me wanting to see it. From Triple H's cool entrance all the way to the final embrace between the three legends at the end, this match delivered and stole the show. They took a rematch that many fans were unsure of whether they wanted to see, and ended up stealing the show with it. Completely blew away all expectations and told an incredible story in the ring.

The second one was slow and boring and the third one had to be better than the second one. I'm going with their first bout. Everything about that feud was perfect from the moment the gong hit during HHH's diatribe about not being in the main event of Wrestlemania to the ending bell. I had no idea who was going to win that match and it does get overlooked because of TLC II and Rock/Austin II but it was a damn good match in its own right.

i thought both the second and third were average matches, I didnt like either one of those 2, i just thought that everything about the 3rd didnt work. HIAC is supposed to be the "devils playground" and the closest thing to hell there is, so why is shawn going to stop it? and having stupid conversations in the middle of a match. It seemed like more of a soap opera than a wrestling match. Sure i guess they told a brilliant story, but i thought the wrestling was sub-par and slow. 2nd is pretty average, but then again so was all of WM last year. 3rd was the best by far. Very under appreciated just because of everything else that happened at 17.

3rd match was the best hands down. The reasons are many...... Inclusion of HBK, the great story told throughout the match, the emotions running an all time high, and last but not the least, the crowd reaction was the best i've ever witnessed, only 2nd to the crowd at WM 18 during the hogan rock bout.

The third match for me was the best simply because it was perfect storytelling.

Going into the match, hhh said he would have to "end" taker. Not pin him - end him. That's why he kept telling Shawn to end It. It wasn't winning the match - it was killing taker

Next came the acting and reacting. I love wwe and wrestling but I always find their reactive emotions (if that makes sense) a little poor. Hbk was flawless.. Him hiding in the corner devastated and terrified of calling the match made me ache. It was truly flawless, gut wrenching, emotional acting.

To cut a long story short - a few months ago I saw a thread about "what match would you show someone who didn't watch wrestling". This was the first match since Bret stone cold that made me lose myself completely in the story. Match of the year - for me match of the decade
