Top Ten Canadian Wrestlers

Mr. TM

Throwing a tantrum
1. Bret Hart- Bret Hart is the greatest Canadian wrestler ever. He is a patriotic symbol in Canada, even being placed on the top 50 list for greatest Canadians ever. Winner of five WWE Championships, he is sparking incredible rumours about a WWE return which could be huge.

2. Roddy Piper- Wait, I said top ten Canadians... not Scotsman. Wait, Saskatchewan... that IS in Canada. The early megastar of the WWE, along with Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper needs no introduction. He forced Hogan through a great feud, and forced the WWE into the top of the world for wrestling.

3. Lance Storm- Ever Canadian wrestling fan remembers Lance Storm with his three belts all with the Canadian flag stamped on them, and the Canadian flag glowing. He made Canadian fans proud of our nation, and is my most remembered WCW moment ever.

4. Chris Benoit- Multi time World Champion, and the man who is probably one of the most feared men in the business, and most loved. That was until his dark secret came out and crippked his legacy. But we will always remember him for his incredible matches.

5. Chris Jericho- The first Undisputed champion of WWE, he is one of the, if not best mid carders of all time. Though not born in Canada, he grew up Canadian, and always represents our nation with pride, as he punches bitches like his brothers all do.

6. Owen Hart- The kid brother of Bret Hart, Owen never made it out of the WWE midcard, dying in one of the greatest WWE trageties of all time. His big match was with his brother at Wrestlemania X in which he would go on to accomplish little. But there was always hope for him before the fall.

7. Edge- 8, 9 something like that world championship belts? How can Edge not be on the list of greats from our nations. He was born and has lived north of Toronto his entire life.

8. Trish Startus- Yep, shes a chick. But probably the greatest womens wrestler of all time. And Canada has to thank her for her work in the ring, as well as the WWE, and all the fans. She made the WWE Women's division exciting.

9. Steve Corino- The last knight of the indies. He has won numerous champions, but has never stayed around for long, moving on and helping buid the love for wrestling across the nation.

10. Ivan Koloff- What is with Canadians being given other national gimmicks. Imagine Santino and The Highlanders being Canadian. Wouldn't that be something? Imagine. Anyways, the WWE owes a lot to this man, who played a terrific heel for his career.

This is a temporary list.Things may change later.
1.Edge-from being a vampire,to a cool guy to an ultimate opportunist, this guy has the charisma, the skill and was in my favorite tag team(E&C).
2.Christian-at first I did not like this guy,but seeing his work in TNA made me believe he is instantly classic.
3.Kizarny.-yes,that is right. He is half Serbian, but I did not want to end up being nacionalistic,so I put him behind my favorite two Canadian wrestlers.
4.The Rock-according to wikipedia`s Canadian wrestler list, the Rock is Canadian.Do I really need to describe why is he in the top ten(everybody knows why)?
5.Chris Jericho-many people say that he is the best wrestler in the world.I do not.But I say he is in the top 25.He probably has the best moveset in the world.
6.Santino Marrela-he is really Canadian, even though he has an Italian gimmick. The guy actually can wrestle, his character when he was heel and mic skill are better than anybody else`s.
7.Bret Hart-true talent.Just like Jericho,he has a great moveset.He also had a great character.
8.Roddy Piper-the guy who in my opinion, was a bigger cheater than Flair and more controversial than Shawn Michaels. That is why I like him
9.Owen Hart-was a great wrestler.Too bad he died,he had main event potential
10.Trish Stratus-favorite Canadian diva, favorite diva at the moment.Just looking at her in her wrestling attire makes me think about sex.

I hate when people forget that being of descent makes you Italian... Maybe that's why WWE gave Santino, Highlanders, and Piper those gimmicks... Hmm just maybe.

4.The Rock-according to wikipedia`s Canadian wrestler list, the Rock is Canadian.Do I really need to describe why is he in the top ten(everybody knows why)?

The Rock wasn't born Canadian, but since his father had Canadian citizenship when he was born, he too got rights to be considered Canadian. So I guess he counts.

Here's my list...

1. Bret Hart - My respect for Bret Hart is unparallel. He is without a shadow of a doubt, my favorite wrestler of all time. And yes, I did just say wrestler.

2. Edge - He's got the best track record on Smackdown, after the Undertaker... and to be honest, Undertaker sucks, so that means Edge is simply the best.

3. Owen Hart - He was destined to be on my list. He's one of the three wrestlers that I idolize and mold most of my current moveset after.

4. Eric Young - Yes, he's very green but he's also very good. He's a 10 year veteran, and even with only one serious title reign in TNA, he's still one of the best that TNA has to offer. And after Turning Point 2007, he will forever be my favorite in TNA just because he was THAT dedicated.

5. Chris Benoit - I put him under Eric Young because when you think about his gimmick, he really didn't have one. I mean his in-ring style was nice, and he even had mic skills, but what the hell was he really about? Where was the background to this guy?

6. Chris Jericho - He has to be on this list. First ever Undisputed Champion, Multi-time World Champion, 10x Intercontinental Champion (record setting), Former European Champion, Multi-time Tag team champion, Former WCW Cruiserweight Champion, Superstar of the Year, and the first man to hold both the Undisputed World Championship and Unified World Tag Team Championship.

7. Petey Williams - Oh do not sit there and say that the Canadian Destroyer never got you off of your couch. Every single time he hits that move, it is beautiful. Why WWE has yet to pick him up is beyond me. Same thing goes for ROH.

8. Test - Quite frankly, this guy was under rated in WWE. He had great in-ring capabilities, and was a great power house.

9. Trish Stratus - Stratusfaction was delivered every single week, and still is with her special appearances.

10. El Generico - Shut up, this is my list! The dude has a terrific brainbuster that always sends shivers down my spine when he hits it.

1. Bret Hart - Unquestionable numba one here. Aside from being great in the ring, never injuring an opponent, and all that jazz, he looked damn fine in pinnk.

2. Chris Jericho - One of the best mic workers of all time, more than capable in the ring, beat da Rock and Steve Austin on the same night, he deserves a high spot here.

3. Chris Benoit - Absolutely incredible in the ring, one of the best of all time, no doubt. If he would've just had a little bit of charisma, he could've been a superstar.

4. Edge - Not only does he have a ton of titles, but he's one of the most entertaining men in the business today. He'll do anything to get on top, even if that means sleeping with Vickie.

5. Trish - I'm all for equal rights between men and women. Trish is known as quite possibly the greatest female of all time and had relations with a bunch of Canadian wrestlers over the years, she gets a high spot.

6. Christian - Part of the greatest tag team of the decade with his brother, he had success in both TNA the WWE and is one of the most over superstars in wrestling today.

7. Owen Hart - His match with Bret is one of the best ever. Who knows how far he could've gone if it wasn't for his untimely death.

8. Eric Young - Raspy voice and all, EY has somehow become relevant in TNA and isn't half bad.

9. Lance Storm - He's great in the ring, or so I've heard. Personally, think he's kind of overrated, but certainly deserves to make this list as he was solid enough and a true Canadian patriot.

10. Test - Yet another tragic death on this list, but Test was a pretty good big guy who was almost in the title picture at one point.

I will go through your list now, and tell you where you are wrong.

2.) Christian is no where near #2. He is a midcarder in the WWE, and has never been higher than that. He has a cople NWA title reigns, a belt that means little now.

3.) Kizarny lasted a couple of weeks, and the only reason he ever saw the back of a WWE stage is because he has a powerful friend. The guy was shit, and has no reason to be #2.

4.) Not a Canadian. My ancestors were born in Austria and England, but I am a Canadian. His father was born in Canada, so you are allowed to have Rocky Johnson, not The Rock.

6.) His name is Santino Marella, not Mareela, and I am his biggest-a-fan. But how can you have him ahead of Bret Hart?

7.) Bret Hart 7th? PWI ranks him in the top 5 in the world.

Well The Rock has duel citizenship, therefore, could be counted as Canadian. Just like every legal citizen in America can be counted as Americans.

As for his choice of people, this is opinion based so leave him alone. Sure, even i might not agree with his list, but it's his opinion to list his top 10 canadians. Hell, I listed El Generico and I'm dead serious about it too.

Here's my list :

1) Chris Benoit- Along with the Dynamite Kid the perfect blend of speed, power, and wrestling ability !

2) Stu Hart- Not so much for his wrestling ability, although I understand he was pretty good, but for his training of so many future greats in the game.

3) Gene Kiniski- "Big Thunder" was a great athlete who was the NWA World champ from 1966-1969 and billed himself as "Canada's Greatest Athlete" !

4) Roddy Piper- One of the greatest heels ever, top 5 for sure !

5) Owen Hart- In my opinion the most talented, best worker, and most charismatic Hart ever ! Also a pretty good promo guy unlike most Hart's(Bret).

6) Mad Dog Vachon- Former AWA champ and Olympic great was a major star as a heel for more than 25 years throughout North America.

7) Ivan Koloff- The "Russian Bear" was a former WWWF Champion, the man who ended Bruno's run of over 7 and a half years. Was a major star and draw as a heel from the early 70's through the late 80's all over North America.

8) Rick Martel- Former AWA champ was a top babyface and great worker from the mid-70's throughout the early 90's. Held a variety of titles all over the world !

9) Bret Hart- Good worker and former WWF champ. I feel he's a bit overrated, very robotic in his work, and not better than his brother Owen. Take out the Screwjob and nobody cares about him !

10) Edge- really came on the last 2 years ! Has the potential to move up if he can come back from his injury !

Not one person has even listed the greatest Canadian wrestler of all time, that being Iron Mike Sharpe :worship:

He was even introduced as "Canada's Greatest Athlete".

That whole "Canada's Greatest Athlete" thing was something he did steal from Gene Kiniski.

Here's my list:

1. Bret Hart- How can he not be #1? He's one of the best wrestlers of all time and a 7x heavyweigt champion.

2. Chris Jericho- In 10 years I think we'll look back and see just how underrated Jericho was. He had the ability and promo skills and yet wasn't as big as Rock, Austin, Angle, or HHH. He should go down as one of the best of all time when he retires.

3. Chris Benoit- One of the best technical wrestlers of all time and almost never had a bad match. He should have gone down as one of the best if not for the incident.

4. Edge- I'm not a big Edge fan, but the guy has done it all. 9x heavyweight champion, 14x tag team champ, 5x IC champ, KOTR winner, MITB winner, Royal Rumble winner. While he hasn't done a match that stands out to me like the others, his accomplishments alone should place him in the top 5 on this list.

5. Owen Hart- My 2nd favorite wrestler. This guy could do it all in the ring. He was great as a technical wrestler, submission wrestler, and a high flyer. Almost all of his matches were very good and gave it his all every time. IMO he's the best wrestler of all time not to win the heavyweight championship.

6. Roddy Piper- The 2nd best heel of the 80's behind Ric Flair. His promos were great and had some very good and exciting matches. Deserved to hold the WWF Championship at least once in his career.

7. Christian- One half of the best tag team of the last 10 years. If you count the ECW championship as a major heavyweight championship he's a grand slam winner. Hopefully he'll embark on some good feuds in the next couple months on Raw or Smackdown.

8. Lance Storm- Was a lot of fun to watch on ECW and Nitro. Had a lot of decents feuds and one of the better wrestlers in the business. If he had charisma like Jericho or Christian he could have been huge.

9. John Tenta- Had a great feud with Hulk Hogan for a while and wasn't a bad tag team wrestler with Typhoon. Even liked him as Golga when he was in the Oddities.

10. Stu Hart- I honestly don't know much about his wrestling career, but I do know he trained some of the best wrestlers of all time. Abdullah the Butcher, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Edge, Bret and Owen Hart, Dynamite Kid, Superstar Billy Graham, Honky Tonk Man, Gene Kiniski, the JYD, Jushin Liger, Brian Pillman, Gorilla Monsoon, Ken Shamrock, Davey Boy Smith, Lance Storm, and Greg Valentine are all wrestlers he trained. He deserves to be on this list.

Hmm I am Canadian and proud and here is my list ::

1.Bret Hart-Will be forever known as one of the greatest superstars to ever set foot in a WWF Ring, iconic, and as no one can forget, was on the receiving end of the infamous Montreal screwjob.

2.Edge- 9 world championships, 10 or more I forget Tag Team championships, including over 30 various WWF/WWE Title Belts, the guy could be bigger than Bret Hart in my opinion, but Edge would have to be screwed to be considered bigger than Bret Hart.

3.Chris Jericho- First Undisputed World Champion..and CANADIAN! a 6 time World Champion, 9 time Intercontinental Champion, 2008 Superstar of the Year, 2009 Tag Team of the Year, and so many many other accomplishments, he truly is maybe "the Best in the World at what he does"

4.Roddy Piper- Maybe one of the most legendary on this list in terms that he was one of the greatest heels of his time. He was great and still is fun to watch whenever he gets an opportunity to appear on WWE, example : Wrestlemania 25, Raw Guest Host, ect.

5.Christian-Amazing on the mic, puts so many people over in matches, and is great at helping the young talents as shown in ECW, has made a career out of winning Tag Team gold with Edge, and winning the Intercontinental Title, a Ladder match specialist, I can't wait till he wins a World Title that means something, being TNA World Champion doing shows in front of 300 people who get in for free is not very special.

6.Owen Hart- Good technical wrestler, I got a chance to see some of his matches, including the one with Bret Hart, and some with HBK Shawn Micheals, the guy is great, too bad he left too soon...

7.Trish Stratus- Can anyone think probably greatest woman wrestler and entertainer of all time? she's probably bound 100% for the WWE Hall of Fame

8.Ivan Koloff- Dethroned Bruno Sammartino's 7 1/2 years as World Champion, that alone speaks volumes.

9.Eric Young- To be honest, I never watch TNA, but something about Eric Young always makes me happy. He's just really good on the mic maybe, or maybe he's just a good wrestler, either or, he's my only TNA guy in this list

10.Stu Hart- Nothing can complete this list without the man who trained and helped out more than his fair share of WWF/E, TNA and other superstars, the man will be inducted probably this year, and it's about time, he's contributed so much, Vince should give him a billion dollars for cropping out guys like Edge, Christian, Jericho, and more that make Vince's company the one it is today.

OH AND By the way I didn't put Chris Benoit on the list because he is a disgrace to us Canadians in my opinion, I mean, if your gonna say the greatest Canadian wrestler is a murderer of his own family, and then killed himself, and was also a huge roid-rager, I'd be disgraced.

As a proud Canadian here is my list

1. Chris Jericho - I first saw him in WCW ( I read a lot of PWI's about him in ECW and Japan) and thought that he was an astonishing wrestler and one of the best on the Mic. Almost 15 years later that is all still true plus the transition from cruiserweight to heavyweight has been amazing. Oh yeah and Fozzy rules

2. Owen Hart - Tragedy struck way to early. I have no doubt that he was on his way to being a future champ. Hey he made Yokozuna look good. Nuff said.

3. Santino - Sure he's billed as Italian... but the guy is pure comic gold

4. Christian - He should have got Edge's push

5. Petey Williams - The Canadian Destroyer is the best finisher ever

6. Trish Stratus - Most Iconic female wrestler ever.

7. Bret Hart - the best there is was and ever will be, it was always love/hate for me with this guy

8. Gail Kim - IMO the best female wrestler ever great move set, weak on the mic

9. Lance Storm - What is it with Canadian wrestlers being such great technical wrestlers? Storm was amazing and I actually enjoyed him on the Mic

10. Vampiro - A hardcore legend

1. Bret Hart - This ones a no brainer, the most successful Canadian Wrestler of them all.
2. Roddy Piper - Great mouthpiece, was never really known as a Canadian (unless you count his stint as the Masked Canadian) but was probably one of the greatest "Heat Seekers" in the history of wrestling.
3. Abdullah The Butcher - No this guy isn't from the Sudan, he was born in Ontario. I have to give this guy a nod for the mark he made on Hardcore wrestling, his longevity, and this guy had an amazing career in Japan, not to mention Abdullah vs. Tiger Jeet Singh did the first ever million dollar house in the history of wrestling. Not the prettiest wrestler, but one of the most successful in the Land of the Rising Sun.
4. Chris Jericho - Though technically born in the States, I feel he counts just because he grew up in Canada and has always been billed as from Canada. Right now this guy is the best wrestler on the planet IMO and has always been one of the most rounded guys in the history of wrestling, mic, wrestling skill, psychology, promos, this guy has it all.
5. Chris Benoit - One of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time. There aren't too many guys who can go hold for hold with this guy. Just an awesome performer and was always a pleasure to watch in between the ropes.
6) Edge - A staple of the WWE for over 10 years, his career has been stellar so far and he still has a long ways to go. Good chance he'll retire as one of WWE's all time greats.
7) Gene Kiniski - Former AWA champion, and also had a solid career in the NWA. One of Canada's best in the 60s, 70s
8) Whipper Billy Watson - Former NWA champion, had a good career also in the AWA. Basically the same reasons I put Kiniski on here.
9) EARTHQUAKE - Earthquake was an awesome heel, did a tremendous job getting heat, and also had a pretty solid career when he was in the WWE. When he left he was mostly forgotten, but a great worker all around. Deserves to be in the top 10
10) Owen Hart - Someone I always thought was better than his brother Bret, he was a great technical wrestler, great in ring psychology, awesome aerial wrestler, its unfortunate we never got to see his full potential as a wrestler because this guy was something special.

Honorable Mentions: Leaping Lanny Poffo (born in Calgary, had to say it, love the Genius character), Mad Dog Vachon, Petey Williams (this is more of a personal preference), Stu Hart, Lance Storm, Christian.

1. Bret Hart-I love christian as a wrestler so much but bret is the best canadian. He's done so much for this business. One of the first technical wrestlers in the WWE and could put fans in seats!
2. Christain.-Not just beause i'm a huge fan, but because he has everything you could ever want in a wrestler. like charisma (hence the name "captain charisma") he can be a face, or heel, a cocky wrestler, a highflyer, technical wrestler, hardcore, mat wrestler, world champion (hopefully very soon:banghead:), or u.s. champion. Great wrestler (after and in TNA however)
3. Chris Benoit-how could you not mention him? One of the Best Technical wrestlers ever, along with Guerrero, Angle, and Malenko. Shame for him to go the way he did...
4. Chris Jericho-One of the greatest to ever step foot in the ring. good in the ring and very entertaining and hilarious on the mic. Total Package
5. Owen Hart-Always the underdog in his matches. Always underrated. should have been WWE champ in his career. More entertaining than bret...not ring/match wise though...
6. Trish Status-The best diva to ever lace up a pair of boots and panties. LOL, idk if it was because of the attitude era making her look so damn hot in the ring, or her actual ring style, she was great!
7. Edge-9 world championships in approx. 5 years. GOOD GOD, this man needs no reason to be on my list.
8. Roddy Piper-Great heel in his day. Very finny talk show (Piper's Pit) too.
9. Test--(R.I.P.) Like Owen, he was always underrated. He had power, great look, look of a champion, and great moves in the ring. Why not let him hold a title at least once??? IDK!
10. Vampiro-Followed his career, and he had some major feuds in WCW with sting (loser gets set on fire). Does some high flying moves in the ring but never made it big. Looks like Brandon Lee from the Crow in a way...:lmao:
