To Play List - A challenge

Lee

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's Supermod!
So I'm the sort of person who'll buy a game, play it and play the next one. I'm also the sort who goes "oooh that's only £5 I better buy it" or starts a game and something comes up (like losing a job and selling said game).

So I've decided to finally work my way through my to play list. With that I'll also give a brief snapshot of what I thought of said games.

This list is for the Wii and I started the challenge on Thursday, my list was as follows:

Not played at all

Madworld

No More Heors
Metroid Other M
Pikmin (new play control)

Briefly started but doesn't count so lets start again
Ivy the Kiwi
Sonic Colours
Mini Ninjas
de blob
Little Kings Story
Zack and Wiki

That's 10 games, my aim is to finish this by the time OOT is released and then I'll hopefully move onto the 3DS version of said thing. Games in Blue I've now completed.

Metroid Other M
: Many reviews have noted the whiny attitude of Samus in this, but if you look at the context of what's happening I think it's pretty believable. That being said the Gameplay is fantastic and a nice fun game. Not bad for £3 (£6 at game and £3 off my card I had for there).

Pikmin (New Play control): As if I've never played Pikmin before. Great fun, the controls for new play control work so well and it's a nice taxing game which has it's easy moments and it's frustrating I've just lost 80 pikmin because they fell in a puddle type moments.

So yourself? Do you have any games to play? Do you want to take up the challenge?

Fuck yes I want to take up the challenge. I have a few games i'm planning on completing by the end of July.

Not Played At All:

Final Fantasy 7(Played a long time ago, just never beat it.)
Mass Effect 2

Games I have started:

Shadow of the Colossus
Fallout 3
Mass Effect 1

Again, hoping to finish them before the end of July. I want to beat both Mass Effects before the third is released. That's just because it is very decision oriented. After these games I want to begin playing Dragon Age 2 as I enjoyed Origins so much. Not to mention, Gears of War 3 will be out soon enough.

Madworld has a red for a very good reason, this game didn't appeal to me at all and as such the game has been abandoned, Whilst visually it looked brilliant (kind of like a comic noire type) gameplay and the violence in it just isn't what I like in a game. I can see the appeal of it though for most people and it's worth picking up if you're into that (I got mine for £5) but for me it's a no.

As an avid horror gamer I have played neither the Penumbra series nor Amnesia: The Dark Descent which are seen as must play games in the eyes of avid horror gamers. Amnesia however is impossible because I have neither the money for a €500 graphics card nor a top notch gaming laptop.

I have a means of collecting the first Penumbra games and I'm certain there are means by which to play the other two games in the series. My goal is to collect the first game and have it finished by the end of this month.

I'm also playing Half Life 1 and Clive Barker's Undying(That's right kiddies, HORROR GAMES!) and hope to complete the story mode(Pretty long for a fighting game.) of Mortal Kombat also by the end of this month. It seems I'm putting up quite alot but even if I get two of these done then I'll be happy with myself

Games that I'm playing now:

Mortal Kombat (Completed just about everything, just have to beat the arcade ladder with everyone)
Red Dead Redemption
Dragon Age: Origins (PS3)
Madworld
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Final Fantasy IV (DS)

I actually started Madworld recently myself, Lee. While I can't say much I do enjoy the art style and the emphasis on creative and brutal killing. Though the commentary, while funny at times, can reach mute-worthy levels of irritating. You're right though, it's definitely not for everyone.

My To Play list currently contains about 60 games so, unless asked, I won't list them. However, I will list the games I own but haven't gotten around to playing yet.

Bioshock 2
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
Metroid Prime 2: Echos
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (PS3)
Singularity
Mafia 2
The Legend of Zelda:phantom Hourglass

Has I make my way through my current play list, I'll gradually get through my To-Play. Once I finish Red Dead, I'll likely jump into either Bioshock 2 or Mafia 2. I'm hoping to get through at least half of these games by the summer and maintain some steady progress through my huge backlog while juggling new releases such as L.A. Noire and Infamous 2.

Finished Shadow of the Colossus. I wanted to get that out of the way because it was much faster and easier than the other games on the list. It was a very fun play with some good graphics and epic boss fights. The control was stiff and climbing the Colossus was a little tough at times. There would be something on the Colossus that would block you from jumping. It was also difficult to rest and regain your strength without falling off the Colossus which could cause for some crazy repetitiveness of having to climb all the way back up. Overall though, I liked the game. I thought the horse controlled very well in comparison to some other means of transportation in video games, and it had that epic feeling you look for in a video game. It's not really my style of game but I did enjoy my time playing.

I have my gaming queue divided into two section: Games I haven't touched & Games I want to replay.

Games I Haven't Touched
Red Dead Redemption
Fallout 3
Stacked
Infamous
LA Noire
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Little Big Planet 2

I received Red Dead Redemption last year from my girlfriend for my birthday & unfortunately have yet to experience it. Part of me is waiting to play it on a better TV, as we currently only have a standard definition one. The same applies for Fallout 3 & LA Noire.

I'm waiting for Infamous to be released in Sony's 'Welcome Back' program, where I'll be getting it for free.

I got Stacked for free for being a PlayStation Plus member, but still haven't played it for more than a quick ten minutes.

Games to Replay
Uncharted
Uncharted 2
Bioshock
Bioshock 2
Heavy Rain

Both Uncharted & Bioshock have another game coming to their respective franchise later this year, I would love to be able to replay all games before the release of the new games.

Due to how hectic things have been in my life for the past year, and will continue to be, its impossible for me to put an end date for when I'll be able to complete this challenge.

I'm thinking about getting a PS3 at the end of the summer because there is a bunch of games I want to play on it. While some of these games I could play on the 360, I don't actually have one of my own and it is a pain in the ass trying to rent a game and than beat it within a week. And I'm definantly not buying games for some else's system.

Anyways, this is a list of games that I plan on playing when I eventually get my PS3:

Uncharted series: The main reason I want a PS3. I watched one of my friends play it the other day and made a goal in life to play these games. They look phenomenal and I have heard nothing but good things about them.

BioShock series: This is one of those games that I could play on the 360, but if I'm going to get a PS3 anyways I'll just wait. The things I've heard of this game are quite
remarkable and I really don't think I can really ignore this game much longer. Plus I've seen screen shots of the game and the setting of rapture is too alluring not to play.

L.A. Noire
: This one isn't too urgent for me to play due to the fact that it just came out and I've heard some mix reviews about it, but I'll try to get to it before Arkham City invades my life in October.

That's it for the PS3, but that's five games for a system I don't even own yet ( and as MTM said earlier, both Bioshock and Uncharted are releasing a third game in the next year or so). For my Wii, I still plan on playing The New Super Mario bros. Wii which I keep putting off for something else, and I just started playing Pokemon Soulsilver this week.

I have a long list of games I am wanting to get through:

Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii)
Dragon Age (360)
Dragon Age 2 (360)
Dragon Quest 6 (DS)
Dragon Quest 8 (PS2)
Metroid Other M (Wii)
New Super Mario Bros Wii (Wii)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)

These are all games I started but either never finished or wish to replay. Given that I have a full time job and am married.... I do not have as much spare time on my hands as others might and I spend a good portion of what little spare time I have on here. I give myself a year to get through this whole list because that should be long enough even if I only get a couple of hours of gaming in per evening. So that is my "to play list" challenge for now.
