I'm Literally Just Here for WZCW
The following is from the main WZ news site:

PWInsider.com is reporting that TNA has renewed interest in an all-knockouts TV show which would air separately from TNA Impact. Part of the new deal that TNA signed with SpikeTV recently allows them to shop TV show ideas around to other networks, which could hopefully land the knockout's show a spot somewhere else if SpikeTV is not interested. One of the main reasons why TNA created the Knockout's Tag Team division is to further create buzz over the women in the company in hopes of landing a TV deal.

So, it seems that the new tag titles & the sudden acquistion of more female talent to the TNA roster is sparking an interest in handing the TNA KnockOut's there own show. Now, this comes as a suprise to me that TNA is actually going forth with the operation.

For the positive, the division is filled with some of the best female wrestling talent that the professional wrestling world has seen. You have a huge variety of KnockOut's from different backgrounds with honed crafts & skills in different wrestling specialisations. This, coupled with the fact that the girls can work matches & can wrestle very well with minimal botching makes the division a great draw for the company. There are fans that do tune into TNA just to see the female competitors wrestle as their main purpose. So, with this in mind... an all KnockOut's TV program could work.

However, the female division has NEVER been a draw in itself. Not to sound sexist here at all, but it seems that women's sports including professional wrestling has never been as big as the men's sports. The main focus on the two is that men are naturally better at sports due to the genetic make-up of males & are built to perform. So, in this regard... the audience watches the men compete & watch the women compete to an extent but would much rather support the beauty they have. It does sound sexist which I am ashamed of saying, but in reality... it is the sad truth. My whole point here is that despite the fact that the KnockOut's division is full of talent, it does not have the drawing power as the male divisions... essentially for creating a show based on women only.

For myself, any show or company "all-women" is a great idea as it allows for the female talent to showcase their skills without any male talent taking the spotlight & proving the phenomena wrong created by the wrestling giant WWE that looks are the important thing in women, not the wrestling. It would also be great to separate the division as they now have two titles that will not get much TV time on Impact & give the male division more TV time on Impact to help progress storylines.

Any thoughts?

NOTE: I am positive that this thread has not been done as of yet, but if this should be under another thread... then I apoligise.

if handled correctly this could actually work this could be the thing that gets womens wrestling more exposure. the thing i like about the tna knockouts is the fact that these women can actually wrestle and are not just eye candy.

I don't think this show would end up working out at all. I'm the kind of fan that has watched wrestling all his life and will watch wrestling no matter how shitty it gets. But I would have zero interest in watching an entire show full of women's wrestling. Even with the Knockouts being better wrestlers than normal, I still don't really enjoy when there's more than 1 knockout match on an impact.

I would rather TNA got an x-division show. That'd be much more entertaining. For my personally at least.

I just don't really care about women's wrestling I guess.

I think an all womens show would be a very bad move. People like variety and yes the women help the ratings on the main show but having their own separate show isn't going to gain any fans, if it does anything it will split them up. The big knockout fans will stop watching impact, and the anybody with a life cant keep adding hours of wrestling watching to their week.

On second thought, the only way this could be positive is if this Knockout show was not on Spike but preferably on a network TV stations that many more people watch. Then they just plug the shit out of their main show thats on Spike during this womens programming.

This would be interesting. As far as I know, the KnockOuts' segments have always been some of the highest rated on Impact every week. It could potentially be a good idea for two reasons:

1. If the KnockOuts are that popular, why not try and get a highly rated second show? Put more focus on an already well-pushed women's division and see if they are good enough to stand alone.

2. It gives more time on Impact for TNA's male roster. TNA has a roster that is way too big with the women for a 3 hour show, which is why guys like the Motor City Machine Guns get left off TV for weeks at a time. Separating the guys from the girls will give both divisions much more TV time and keep everyone happier and much more featured.

I simply don't understand TNA's thought process here. Are they actively trying to fail or something? Do they honestly think that there will be enough interest in the Knockout division to warrant it's own television show? I'm telling you right now, if this show makes it to the air, it will fail, and I mean fail hard. TNA is already still a rather small promotion in terms of fans, but to start an all female wrestling show...man there's going to not be a lot of interest in that. I'm thinking ratings along the 0.3-0.6 area, and even that might be generous.

That said, I'd watch it if it were started. I enjoy the Knockouts division very much, but I just think it's a terrible idea from a practical point of view. An X-Division show would probably be more successful.

It sounds like a good idea. It would especially be a good idea if it was not on spike. TNA wants more exposure so it can do better house shows. Guys see Velvet Sky in a match with Sarita they are going to stop flipping through channels to get a better look. They watch the match and enjoy it an park there remote at that channel each week. That is what TNA wants. More viewers. More people that want to see live events. More exposure to hire better talent. A couple of months ago it was on this site that FX was looking for a sports or sports entertainment show. That could be a good fit.

Absolutely not in favor of this at all, and I think it is a big mistake. And pretty much for the reason stated in the OP in that Women's Wrestling simply is not a proven draw. And to all the women out there, no offense is meant from me ... but it is what it is.

I think it is very risky to do at this time, and that this television time would be far better utilized with another regular TNA program, which I would attempt to make a live show and market as their brand new "A" show. I think this would create a ton of buzz and get momentum going TNA's way with a move like that more so than an all Knockouts show.

This is an awful idea. Sure, people will stay tuned if the Knockout's come on while they are watching TNA, but tuning in for a show entirely composed of women is a completely different story. There aren't that many women's wrestling fans out there, and it wouldn't be a draw to the casual fan. If they went through with this, I think it would be disastorous. Women's wrestling simply doesn't draw, even if they are very good.

If TNA was to get more TV time, they should definetly use it as an extension of Impact. Not an X Division show or a Knockout's show, but another hour or two to build feuds and get wrestlers on TV who can't fit in on Impact. It would more or less be the same thing as WWE Superstars. Not only would that do better in the rating, but it would be more entertaining and help build for upcoming PPVs.

On the surface, it sounds like an interesting and intriguing idea. However, the intrigue just isn't supported by a long standing and well known truth about women's wrestling in America: It does not draw.

I don't want to sound sexist, I enjoy a lot of what's going on in the Knockout Division, but the facts are what they are. In the whole long history of women's professional wrestling in America, it's never been a big deal. Aside from the low interest among the typical wrestling fan, TNA in and of itself doesn't have a large enough fanbase to ultimately sustain the ratings to the overall satisfaction of the corporate big wigs that own TNA. They'd be much better off using the second show at this time to go along with the current TNA programming, provide a show to showcase a lot more of the company as a whole instead of just on the women's division.

Is this ultimately Dixie Carter's idea I wonder? She states that she's not a fan of monthly ppv, even though it's just more revenue to the company, and now there's this. I dunno..if this is Carter's notion for the most part, it really just shows how little she knows about wrestling.

I don't see why TNA would even consider doing this. Their ratings on their main show are no where near high enough to warrant a second show, let alone an all women's show.

No offence to the Knockouts or fans of the Knockouts, but this would never work, it would be a huge drain of money and time TNA could put toward so many other things that they need to concentrate on.

I'm all for pushing the Knockouts, but this should just be done on the main show to see if it works. This would fail so badly it could possibly finish TNA. I might sounds really negative here, but I really do enjoy watching the Knockouts and would like to see a bit more, but even I wouldn't tune into an all women's show, the Knockouts roster isn't strong enough to have it's own show and TNA should probably focus their efforts elsewhere.
