TNA in 2009 - The 2 months leading up to Bound for glory?

Pre-Show Stalwart
Recently Vince Russo said he had full creative control of everything in TNA in the 6-8 weeks leading up to the Hogan/Bischoff announcement (the week after BFG I believe)

What is/was your opinion on this time period of Impact? Did Vince Russo improve the show, was it better or worse than before and after?

The matchcard from wiki:

1 Amazing Red (with Don West) (c) defeated Suicide, Daniels, Homicide, Chris Sabin, and Alex Shelley Ultimate X Match for the TNA X Division Championship 15:17
2 Taylor Wilde and Sarita (c) defeated The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne) Tag Team Match for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship 2:58
3 Eric Young defeated Kevin Nash (c) and Hernandez Three Way Match for the TNA Legends Championship 8:50
4 The British Invasion (Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams) (previous IWGP and new TNA) and Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) (new IWGP) defeated The Main Event Mafia (Booker T and Scott Steiner) (previous TNA) and Beer Money, Inc. (Robert Roode and James Storm) Full Metal Mayhem Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship and the IWGP World Tag Team Championship 17:13
5 ODB (c) defeated Awesome Kong (with Raisha Saeed) and Tara Three Way Match for the TNA Women's Knockout Championship 7:29
6 Bobby Lashley defeated Samoa Joe Submission Match 8:07
7 Abyss defeated Mick Foley Monsters Ball Match with Dr. Stevie as Special Guest Referee; if Abyss used thumbtacks as a weapon, he would be disqualified. 11:03
8 Kurt Angle defeated Matt Morgan Singles Match 14:45
9 A.J. Styles (c) defeated Sting Singles Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship 13:52

The match Bobby Lashley vs Samoa Joe was billed as MMA vs TNA which Lashley won hence TNA lost ? (bad booking).

Eric Young defeated Kevin Nash for the "Legends" Championship. (Does that make Eric Young a legend ?). They should have used Legends Championship only for the Legends.

Other than these 2 matches everything else is okay.

I was a huge fan of TNA in 2009 (so much so i stopped watching WWE until when Kevin Nash came back last year because i couldn't stand watching it any longer) due to the Main Event Mafia (Kurt Angle, Sting, Kevin Nash, Booker T & Scott Steiner) plus Mick Foley & Jeff Jarrett.

Im not going to go into what Vince Russo is good at & bad at because i can't be bothered & if your on here you should know (but most don't im guessing even though they may think they do).

Im not a guy who hates everything Vince Russo but if that was the correct time he was writing TNA then i got to say i think the show got worse.

After Victory Road PPV when the MEM won all the Titles i definitely didn't think TNA was a good as it was previously. The MEM angle didn't even have a conclusion.

There was so many twists & turns in MEM angle prior to Victory Road...Christain being forced to join...then beat out of the company, Team 3D joining but then double crossing MEM, Sting/Angle fighting over leadership, Sting/Foley feud, Lashley debuting, Sting becoming leader, Samoa Joe joining MEM, Sting getting kicked out etc.....then it just sort of fizzled out.

The ratings reflect this also...in February, March & April they were breaking rating & quarter hour ratings records every week & did their first 1.3 rating during this period however during the time Russo was in charge of creative ratings decreased

What he did wasn't a bad idea but the "death" of the MEM wasn't a good ending. It should of had a better and more intense ending. Booker getting injured, nash joining world elite, angle face turn and everyone else doing whatever. It's like how Goldberg's streak came to an end; in a ridiculous style.:wtf:

Overall, BFG 2009 was a great and entertaining show. Great match card but I still think 2008 was better overall (the whole frikin year)

I think he probably saved it from becoming something even worse however. But maybe they should have revealed the original head writers plan so we know what could of happened. I think the final 2 months until that blonde hair idiot came over were aWWEsome and it was based on the TNA originals and a upcoming Desmond Wolfe (too bad he has gone)

Maybe Russo isn't that bad after all.
