TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING ANNOUNCES NEW ONE-HOUR "TNA EPIX" PROGRAM TO BEGIN BROADCASTING IN 2009

Ongoing series to join "iMPACT!" and "Xplosion" as TNA's leading broadcasts

TNA Wrestling is announcing the creation of a new one-hour television series, set to debut in early 2009.

"TNA Epix" will feature the most awe-inspiring and monumental moments, matches and superstars that shaped the face of TNA from its 2002 inception until today!

From the first TNA event in 2002 and the early Wednesday night Pay-Per-Views, to the Fox Sports Net era and the evolution of TNA on SpikeTV as well as the most recent wars inside the six-sided ring, the new program will include rare matches, archived footage, fresh historical commentary from the TNA superstars and so much more

"We are extremely excited about ‘Epix' joining the TNA broadcasting universe," said Kevin Sullivan, Director of TNA Television. "While ‘iMPACT!' is undoubtedly the crown-jewel of our worldwide presence, ‘Epix' will chronicle the amazing history of TNA and allow our fans to re-live some of their favorite moments."

"Epix" will be produced by Bill Banks at TNA's new state-of-the-art television headquarters in Nashville.

Check back to TNAwrestling.com in the coming weeks for more exclusive news on "TNA Epix".

TNA Television currently produces over 350 hours of programming annually, including "iMPACT!", Xplosion, International broadcasts, DVDs, SpikeTV specials, online videos and much more. In addition to "Epix", TNA is already exploring additional broadcasting opportunities in 2009.

First off, stupid name. At least it's got an x in it. For extreme.

I dunno, does anyone actually give a shit? I'm gonna guess not. Raise your hand if you do. In the week I owned TNA iMPACT! (THE VIDEOGAME!) I browsed the bonus disc or whatever. It had a couple matches from 2002 on it. At this stage, TNA was just a glorified indie. Still is today really, just much more glorified. Nothing from TNA's past interests me.

So Hulk Hogan was in TNA one night? He was in WWE lots of nights, doing more interesting things. I'm guessing by "rarities" they mean has-beens and still-ares-but-want-moneys-and/or-are-pissed-at-Vince. I doubt anyone will show particular interest. I won't.

Wonder if it'll air on Bravo.

Well, since I've only been watched TNA for a little under a year now, I guess I'd be a little interested in this show. But seriously, how much wrestling can we possibly watch every week? The WWE provides me with 5 decent hours of wrestling every week, plus iMPACT equals 7 hours dedicated to wrestling every week of my life. I don't watch Explosion, because all I know about it is that it's just got dark matches involving unimportant superstars. And I can't be bothered watching it online anyway.

I mean it would be nice seeing a little of how shitty TNA was back then, but I think they should only introduce this show once they have more fans, so that the newer fans can get a good knowledge of the history of the company. TNA's TV ratings have hardly improved for a long time, meaning they haven't really introduced any new fans, futher proving that chances are that most current fans have seen the history of TNA.

If it does air here in Australia, I woudn't watch it unless I was really bored, which rarely happens anyway. I'd like to see some matches from the past, but this new show called "Epix", just isn't neccessary right now and it wouldn't really introduce new viewers to the product. Another pointless move by TNA.

I only started watching TNA since it debuted on Spike TV so yeah, this has me excited, especially if I get to see guys like Shamrock and Raven wrestle again. The name is pretty corny though.

i've seen every impact, and i've bought every ppv; even the weekly ones from before impact existed.

that being said, even if epix is full of material that i've seen before, i'm still interested. context and presentation are everything.

plus, it's possible that i've forgotten quite a bit.

either way, i hope the new show is a ratings success, as more revenue could not possibly hurt.

I've been a fan of TNA for many years and I think that this is wonderful. If TNA wants to do like many of the internet SMarks keeping suggesting and begins to re-feature the X-Division, then it needs to show the history of how it came into being. I mean with guys like The Amazing Red ready to return, why not show his old footage so that fans can actually find out more about him rather than sitting and wonder "who in the hell is this mexican guy in the red outfit?". It makes sense. It will show how far TNA has come, and it will be a great way for fans, like me, who only watched a few of the early ppv's to be able to see what I was missing before I wised up and got on the bus. I really don't see a downside to this as TNA will be using what should be classic material featuring some of the best stars and matches throughout their history and they won't have to put much into production costs to do it. Bonus for everyone.
