Time To Move On?

Quarterback is without a doubt the most important position in the NFL. There are some teams that have veterans that aren't playing as well as they usually do and there are other teams with young qb's that were thought to be the future but are struggling.

I'll list the qb's, you tell me whether they should get another shot as the starter next year or if the team should move on. Obvious teams like the Niners, Cardinals, and Vikings (assuming Favre retires) will be left off.

Redskins: Donovann McNabb- He was just given a huge contract by the Skins but they have an out if he's released after this year. I say they should keep him because the team has talent so rebuilding around a young qb would be a step back and they aren't going to find any veteran better then McNabb. They need to focus on improving other aspects of the team.

Seahawks: Matt Hasselbeck- I say keep him the starter next year. They should get a young guy in there to learn behind him but he needs to be kept at least another year. He is playing good this season and has the Seahawks poised to make the playoffs. Charlie Whitehurst is not the future in Seattle.

Dolphins: Chad Henne - Once again I say keep him as the starter. He really didn't play bad at all this year and has actually had a solid season. He is also better then any other option they have. Thigpen is fine for a few starts but he isn't a full time guy and Chad Pennington just can't stay on the field. The Dolphins running game is what let them down the most this year.

Bengals: Carson Palmer- I think it's time for Carson to go. I don't think he is necessarily finished as a starting qb in this league but for the Bengals it just isn't working out. He seems to be digressing every year. He needs a change of scenery and the Bengals need someone to look towards the future.

Jaguars: David Garrard- This may surprise people but I say keep him for another year. For all of the hate he gets, Garrard is having a great year. He has completed nearly 68% of his passes for 1,700 yards, 17 tds, and 10 picks. His 98.5 qb rating ranks 6th in the league. He has a few too may turnovers this year but nothing overly bad. The Jags are not going to get a high enough draft pick to get a rookie who will be ready to contribute and there won't be any veteran out there that is a better fit.

Titans: Vince Young- It's time to move on. This isn't because of his play, it's because of his character. The guy has all the talent in the world but he needs to grow up. The Titans can go out and find some veteran, maybe a Carson Palmer if he's available, and they will be better off.

Broncos: Kyle Orton- They should keep him for at least one more year as the starter. I have said it before and I will say it again: Tim Tebow is never going to be a successful starting qb in this league. I know a lot of people disagree but until he proves me wrong I'm standing by that statement. Orton is not a great qb but the Broncos are not a great team and they have a lot more pressing issues. Orton has been one of the few bright spots this year.

Donovan McNabb:

Do they have any other option now that they have sent him a nice fat check? And as a Bears fan Rex Grossman is never i repeat NEVER an option

Carson Palmer:

This is sorta tough...he has the potential to be good again...and other than Andrew Luck and Jack Locker who is there to take in the draft this year? for now one more year.

Matt Hasselback:

Move on...He is getting older and they could trade for a QB (thats has starts) say a Kevin Kolb or maybe Carson Palmer if the Bengals will trade him reunite the coach and QB...hey Matt Leinart out there lol

Kyle Orton:

Keep cause for one Brady Quinn is a bust never lived up to his expectations...and tim tebow isnt ready yet and kyle is surprisingly doing good in denver he just not as superstar ish as manning brees rivers or brady

David Garrard:

the jury is still out...right now he getting lucky and would stay but i still feel like they can do better but they wont get a high pick in the draft so kinda stuck with him too.

Chad Henne:

KEEP!! I mean at least give him another year he still young and another thing look at the division...i mean idk if Marino could of won this division..

Im adding him in...

Mathew Staford:

may seem early but my god i honestly dont remember seeing him play cause he is always hurt.

Redskins: Donovann McNabb

The contract is a win-win for both parties here. With the potential of a lockout and no QB set for next season the Skins will be guaranteed one and McNabb will be guaranteed a job next year. I do believe McNabb should be the Skins starter next season, as they don't have anything better to go with and it is likely they won't get a better option in there.

Seahawks: Matt Hasselbeck

If I'm not mistaken Matty H's contract is up at the end of this season and they did just trade for Charlie Whitehurst. Now I'm not saying Whitehurst is a go to guy for any franchise, but I've heard Carrol is high on the guy and they did trade a good deal for him. With Hasselbeck's contract being up I say the Hawks will move on with Whitehurst or a potential rookie.

Dolphins: Chad Henne

As much as I love Tyler Thigpen and would love to see him start, the Phins best bet is to stick with Henne. Who knows if Pennington's shoulder will heal or if there will be better options available. Going the safe route is the best option for Miami and Henne could still turn out to be a solid NFL QB.

Bengals: Carson Palmer

Like I said in the other thread about Palmer, I'm not a fan of his at all and for him to succeed it'll have to be outside Cincinnati. I think it is time for the Bengals to move on and clean house. Get a new coach and they should be in a great situation to snatch up one of the top 3 QB in the 2011 draft. Moving on is best for both parties.

Jaguars: David Garrard

I thought the Jags were gonna be cellar dwellers this season and be looking elsewhere for a QB, but Garrard and the Jags have been a pleasant surprise this season. Garrard was shaky early on, but he has been solid the past few weeks and right now Garrard will be their best bet going into next season.

Titans: Vince Young

I like VY and all, but it is time to go. He has major character concerns and doesn't handle criticism well at all. I don't care if Bud Adams says that Vince and Fisher need to kiss and make up since both guys are under contract, one of them will be out of Tennessee next year and if the Titans are smart it won't be Jeff Fisher.

Broncos: Kyle Orton

Kyle Orton should stay in Denver. He is having a great season despite their record and seems to be the perfect fit for McDaniels system. However with Tebow lurking in the background I think Denver is going to seriously ponder trading him in the offseason to a team that is in need of a QB (Minnesota, Arizona, San Fran, etc...). Though I don't think they get what they are looking for and Denver decides to stay put with Orton.
