Thoughts on Jinder Mahal

Shawn

Dark Match Winner
So i dont think there have been many threads on this guy. I dont get to watch Smackdown very often for the obvious reason that i'm never home on Friday nights like a lot of other people. I do watch it every time i get a chance. So i've seen this guy in the ring twice but the guys he face...well he demolished.

However, he seems to have that WWE look and i've heard him speak and he seems alright at that. Plus, putting Great Khali at his side gives him a little extra attention. I dont know if thats a good thing or not since Khali is a bit of a help to him but it seems intresting how this guy has a control over khali. I havent seen him to much in the ring as i said before so maybe you guys can give me your opinion on his in ring skills.

But my main questions to you are:
Does he have what it takes to make it in WWE or will he be put on Superstars and ultimatley on the future endeavord list?

Would he be better on his own or is Khali a help to him

and lastly, if you do think he could be a make it, do you think he could main event or be stuck in the midcard or even lower

I haven’t thought too much of Mahal yet. So far he’s a more boring version of Alberto Del Rio. Both have the pompous rich guy gimmick going but Del Rio has much more charisma. I’d probably like Mahal a little more if Del Rio wasn’t doing a better job with the same gimmick right now. I think while Del Rio is the pompous rich guy Mahal can play the role of the evil rich guy. So far I’m not overly impressed, but he’s still new so I’m not going to write him off yet. I wouldn’t mind a new finisher for him though. The full nelson slam just doesn’t do it for me as a finish.

I'm not really sure how I feel about mahal. He has a decent look for someone his size and some good mic skills, but I really can't judge him any further until he actually starts having matches where he can show off a bit more of his offense other than in 2-3 minute squash matches. That being said, I have seen him in house show matches and was able to see that he could have a bit more going for him in the long run when he starts having an actual storyline where he can show off more of his skills to the masses.

Jinder Mahal has yet to impress me. I really dont like him or his character or the fact that they brought back Khali because of him. It feels like theres no room for him on SD. SD is already considered a green roster even though its full of experienced performers, the last thing they need is someone whos green and has nothing going from him. I think he'll be future endeavored sooner than later.

omg i hate this guy. Then again we havent seen much of him. Like someone said, he seems like a boring Del rio, which in all reality he is. If Del Rio can barely get over with the crowd, May God help this guy D:

I can't say since they keep putting him in squash matches where he predictably wins. However, if they put him in matches where he has better competition then I will say if he has what it takes. Right now, only time will tell. I can say that wrestling wise- he's better than Khali (see his work from FCW)

Would he be better on his own or is Khali a help to him?
Khali is mainly there just to give this guy attention. I think one day, he needs to be on his own. The reason why Khali is still with the WWE because in India he is considered a huge superstar. However, if Jinder gets a good push and is over with the crowd (primarily India, but does need to be over with everyone) then he can do well.

And lastly, if you do think he could be a make it, do you think he could main event or be stuck in the midcard or even lower?
Only time will tell if WWE gives him the ball and he ran with it in a positive way.

As a mouthpiece for Khali or just as a general non-wrestler, he's great. He reminds me of Hassan in a way. The only difference is that Hassan could wrestle. I know they've only put him in squash matches, but his finisher sucks and his style just seems like an unexperienced brawler. Maybe if he gets a good full match we can see what he's really made of.

I think he suffers a bit from not having any decent commentators on SD!

When a new guy used to debut with JR commentating, he made them look amazing. Jinder actually is a very big guy, just standing next to Khali makes him look smaller than he is. JR, when guys debuted would really talk about how big someone was, what size their shoes were or how powerful they were and really get that wrestler over.

I remember when Nash returned to WWE with the nWo in 2002, he really made him seem like a big deal and how big he was and how powerful he was. because of Nash's mic skills I think a lot of people forget how big Nash is. But JR made him sound like King Kong.

Same with Big Show, when he first debuted JR would say things like "you can pass a silver dollar through Big Show's wedding ring"...

Mahal could do with some good old fashioned hype from the broadcast table that the current commentators just don't do like JR.

I think it would help Mahal if they'd put him in an actual program with anyone and let him get in the ring a bit more. It's become more about Khali than him now when it should be the other way around where Khali is just his muscle that helps him win matches. Mahal is never in a match over 3-5 minutes so we never really get to see what he's got. Word has it that he's green so maybe they're giving him time to improve, but some direction would be good in the meantime. Like Brain said, he's a worse version of ADR. I think focusing more on his Indian origin would be a good move. If he were more like one of the IWC's favorite former guys in Muhammad Hassan he might have something. I don't think he has close to the talent that guy did, but it'd be a good way to get heat.
