This has been building for a few weeks

Remix

Is a thin rope
But from where I'm sitting, I don't see a line between truth and fiction in the CM Punk/WWE title situation any more. It might come back, but for now, it's gone. In short, this has stopped being an angle for me. Shit just got real, dammit.

For the first time in I don't know how long I'm being worked like a 5 year old, and I love every. Fucking. Second of it.

Sadly the critic in me is expecting them to screw it up. But it sounds like the ending to Raw was great and the ideal way to build on Sunday night.

You could even say the same about the Vince/HHH angle

As I'm sure it's true to an extent... just like the CM Punk/WWE angle.. it's true to an extent. To what extent it's true to.. now that is the mystery...

It's all a part of one huge angle, which is using reality to it's advantage. Good stuff.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner! The fact that this is fooling so many intelligent fans is proof that the WWE is nailing it. That said, even as an educated fan I'm still having trouble deciphering what aspects of this are real and fake, which is about as good as the WWE is going to get with me.

Well, they completely fooled X-Pac. Someone needs to explain the whole kayfabe thing to Sean again. Either that or he's publicly pretending to have insider info that supports kayfabe so that he can get back in WWE good graces.
I was at the show last night and they had the audience's head spinning in so many directions it was crazy. Same people went from singing "Hey, Hey Goodbye" to chanting "thank you, Vince" in about thirty seconds. The thank you chant caught Vince off guard a little bit, but he handled it well after Raw went off air, he was able to redirect back to his planned bit where he was going to fight Cena.
I was surprised recently that Vince had returned to the airwaves at all. I had heard he wanted to scale that back. Now, I think maybe that was the point of his return. Last night's "firing" of Vince might have been his way of using his real life decision to step away from TV and pass the torch to HHH.
I would be surprised if we see Vince on TV playing out a feud now. I think the character of "Mr. McMahon" just retired last night, but unlike a wrestler he can't just say that he did.

99% of this is 100% fake. However, we may have seen the last of Vince on television. I can easily see him being happy with a quick, abrupt exit. I'm not sure he'd want to make a bigger deal out of it.

Or, he could show up next week.

TNA fans, pay attention... this is why you can't break the fourth wall down every single fucking week on television. And this is why the Attitude Era almost ruined pro-wrestling.

When you do it each week, the shock value is gone. The surprise is no more. We'll be called hypocrites, just wait.

And this is why the Attitude Era almost ruined pro-wrestling.

Curious to know how an era of such popularity nearly ruined anything....

In the short run, it was fantastic. But it almost took every means of surprise out of the game.

I suppose I agree with that. Then again, I think WWE's creative team has been lazy as fuck for years now, so I put most of the blame there. Things are changing, for the better.

I don't think they're lazy. I think they let enough time pass where angles like the most recent ones can actually come as a shock to viewers. Back during the AE, these angles wouldn't have made NEARLY as much of an impact as they do now.

You call millions and millions of dollars and a tremendous following "ruining"? Please explain further.

In the long run, the Attitude Era was hurting the business. It took all surprise out of the product.

I'm not saying it wasn't good product but I don't think it would've lasted if it never changed back to more friendly television product.

Punk will return with this title:

Austin v. Corporation = Attitude Era to me. Not...Val Venis, Mae Young birthing a hand, hoes, flashing breasts to a ppv audience, flashing OLD breasts to a ppv audience, etc. etc.

The Austin bit could have worked by itself.
