And this is how we are introduced to the man that "has always been Suicide." Chances are he's sticking with it too. Just how worse of a debut for a repackaging can you get? Let's get it straight. The masked badass that flew around on a highwire and doing crazy high spots (according to TNA) got beat up by Austin Aries so badly he had to go to Hulk Hogan and tell him he had his suit stolen? Are we supposed to take this beat up mess seriously now as opposed to when he had a cool suit and deep voice? I don't think so.

Yeah. He sure was selling the crap out of that one. He made that one-man backstage beatdown look way worse than an entire Ultimate X match. That's... questionable, at best. To be fair and honest, I still don't know much about TJ Perkins but I intend to look him up and see what he really is about.

One must admit that with the way the Aries screwjob was handled by management i.e. Hogan, it is to be assumed, at least for the time being, that Aries retains regardless and that he is indeed X-Division champ. If that IS the case, then Perkins immediately becomes irrelevant unless they're planning to get him involved in the upcoming Aries/Bully feud which would be valid only if Perkins has mad skills and titanium balls to back it up.

One way or the other, that storyline just started off as a complete logistical mess so TNA will quickly have to come up with something to make it look even remotely credible. THEN, Perkins might try and woo us...

I've followed TJ Perkins for awhile, including his recent work in ROH. He had some great matches with Jay Lethal, Matt Taven and Adam Cole there. He actually is a decent talent.

With that said, Hogan told a boldface lie when he said Perkins "always has been Suicide." That was a slap in the face as "Intelligent fans" know Christopher Daniels and Kaz have both been behind the mask of Suicide. I wanted to slap the taste out of Hogan's ignorant mouth for making that stupid comment.

If this means it's the end for the dreadful Suicide character, than Hogan can lie to me all he wants. In fact, this SHOULD signal the end of Suicide...the key word here being 'should'. If I know TNA like I think I know them, they'll end up milking this thing two weeks past it's due date. It won't end until everyone on the roster has had a chance to try out the costume. I hope it doesn't come down to that. It was kind of cool how it all played out last week with Aries and everything...so please just leave it alone. Let's not do 2 months of masked mystery adventures please. Instead lets bring back Rashad Cameron, Sonjay Dutt, Petey Williams and maybe a fresh new tag team and let's start
to get serious about the X-Division.

You know your masked mystery gimmick has been on it's deathbed for too long when a whole tag team has been Suicide. The only way that this could get more Russo is if they had a four-way "Mask on a Pole" match between TJ Perkins, Austin Aries, and the members of Bad Influence.

Welcome to professional wrestling. Let me introduce to my friend here. His name's kayfabe.

Now onto the actual topic. This doesn't bother me. Like at all. Normally, a person would just take care of a situation by themselves. But this was a match for the X-Division Championship and for a potential shot for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Of course TJ Perkins would go to Hulk Hogan about it. That was his match and that was his shot, he wants it. Running out to the ring and socking Aries in the face won't change what happened. Hulk Hogan, on the other hand, has that power to reverse a decision or make a match for TJ to get a chance to earn his shot.

We also have no idea how TJ's beatdown went. Aries could have beat the guy with any number of items/weapons and left him in a closet unconscious. Perhaps, in kayfabe terms, we should be looking at TJ as being a strong kid for even walking out onto the ramp so soon after it.

While I can guarantee you that the character Suicide will have been much cooler than this TJ Perkins, and yes there would've been much better ways to unmask him, I don't have a problem with how he sold the injuries. The "attack" was not filmed whatsoever (unless I missed something), so its up to your imagination as to how Aries took out Perkins. For all you know he put a baseball bat to the side of his knee. Pretty sure that's going to take anyone out of a match.

While it's a poor start for Perkins, all he has to do to look good is to be a legit threat when he is uninjured. That all comes down to booking. This storyline has made Aries look awesome anyways, so there's a win right there.

Give the guy, and the creative staff, a chance before you write him off completely.

Yeah, Aries did more damage to Perkins than Aces and Eights ever done to anyone. Poor dude, suffered a huge downhill tumble on his repacking. He's been Suicide the whole time which we know isn't true. But for the non internet fans it can be played off.

Hopefully Perkins can recover from this. He did over-sell the beat down to much, but it worked. It made the main event all the more exciting. Does this mean no more Suicide? If so what and how is Perkin's going to recover from this? He is very fluid in the ring and now the X-Division has some stories going for it. Everyone should be excited about that.

You mean the "masked badass that flew around on a highwire and doing crazy high spots" who's entire existence in the company was based on a failed video game? Who cares? I'm glad they did this, because it assuredly ends the miserable reign of "Suicide" — a character with a failed history and an even more inappropriate name. Besides, I'm just glad I might never have to hear those stupid fucking song lyrics "Suicide, Comes Alive" anymore. Suicide, comes alive? You're aware these two terms are antithetical to one another, yes? It would have been like having Homicide's lyrics be "Homicide, saves a life!".

Maybe it doesn't help Perkins much, but let's not sit here pretending that a poor initial outing equates the end of a performer's career. Plenty of guys got off to a rocky start. His work in the ring will tell a far more compelling story than Suicide — that's for sure.

Are we really getting mad because someone got taken out due to an unseen backstage assault? Really? After the 50+ years that it's been used in the business, this is the time you want to get on a high horse and get pissed about it? Oh wait, he's been in Ultimate X so he should be used to the pain...

Meanwhile, Triple H was taken out by a simple submission despite being through Elimination Chambers, Hell in a Cells, and 3 Stages of Hell matches... but we're going to ignore that logic and bash TNA for using what's been done for years.

Before this nobody knew or cared who the fuck TJ Perkins was, this doesn't hurt him at all, it did the opposite & gave him exposure, now he doesn't have to rely on the stupid Suicide gimmick to get over, he just go out there & be TJ Perkins, & make a career off his own name, also the Aries reveal last week also made for good TV.

I'm just glad that Perkins is in TNA and I am hoping that the guys backstage decide to keep him around after Destination X. TJ is a great tallent and is far better then a lot of the guys TNA have signed over the last few years and Can see him becoming the X division champion quite quickly.

I'm surprised so many people DON'T know TJ Perkins. The guy has some serious talent (way more than a Garett Bischoff or even Briscoe). You guys and gals should check out some of his youtube videos from his ROH days.

If anything it adds more talent and intrigue to the X-Division. The division is getting some exciting talent: Petey Williams, Perkins, Kenny King, Austin Aries, Chris Sabin and Sonjay Dutt.

TNA should continue to pillage ROH and bring in The Briscoes who are having a contract spat with ROH, Jay Lethal, Eddie Edwards, Davey Richards, Adam Cole, Roderick Strong and Michael Bennett. ROH is dying anyway.

i think this goes into the who gives a care category in my mind. the Suicide character was WAY overplayed and the only thing i cared about the character was who was under the mask and not the character himself. the whole Suicide gimmick though was just based on a video game character, but he wasnt really special with his promos or wasnt mysterious like Kane was in his early years and usually when the characters lose the Suicide gimmick, the wrestler under the mask improves. for example, look at Daniels and Kaz. being Suicide to now being a tag team that is entertaining and in my book should be Tag Team Champs sometime soon again. as for Perkins, hope they dump the Suicide character and let him play his own guy.

I believe it was intentional for Hogan to do that. And I think it has been done for continuity's sake. Suicide has always been treated as a single entity despite being played by numerous people. He's considered a former X-Division champion no matter who's under the mask, and was even touted by Tenay as being a veteran of Ultimate X (even though Perkins himself had never been in Ultimate X previously).

So in order to "retcon" all of that, it's now established that Suicide was Perkins the whole time. It ties up some issues, like the whole 2011 ordeal when Daniels was riding with Fortune and at the same time going around as Suicide.

If you are going to complain about something make sure you get the details right

It was never said that TJ ran to Hogan. He said TJ got beat down in the back. Judging by how hard TJ was selling the beating TJ was probably found laid out in the backstage area. Word gets to Hogan. He finds out someone got hurt, pumps him for info and then brings TJ with him while "Suicide" is still in the ring.

Now mind you during all this they said TJ was the only suicide since day one.
Any accolades fall on TJ now, Ultimate X, title reigns, etc.
He's been outed and needs to feud with Austin Aries for redemption.
They gave the fans a reason to care about Suicide/TJ for the first time since he appeared in TNA. We know exactly what side of the locker room he's on. We know he can go in the ring. He's about to be in a summer feud with Austin Aries. In what way does this repackaging suck? I agree he oversold the beating but considering how vicious Aries is, I can imagine he would have made sure Suicide was done for the whole night and the next day

At least the continuity was better than when WCW did something like this. Remember that masked man who attacked Rick Steiner finally unmasked himself, revealing that he was...indeed....Rick Steiner.

I wonder why TNA decided to show TJ's face? Are they officialy ending the Suicide gimmick? I know they wanted to say that the guy wearing the mask wasn't TJ but they could at least make an effort to keep the mystery alive of their only masked guy. Hogan could have said, "the real Suicide is backstage and you've injured him" or have TJ come in with a towel over his head or another mask.

That's the only explanation for it I think. Unless TNA does something that I think wrestling companies should've done a long time ago. Have a masked wrestler but don't keep his identity a secret. You know, like Deadpool. We know what he looks like.

I always thought it'd be cool if there was one masked guy who simply used the mask as an accessory and not a damn plot point. That way he can keep the coolness of having a mask and also cut promos with the mask off. Just for the lulz. It doesn't always have to be that damn "who is under the mask" storyline. Think out of the box, people.

But yeah, it does seem like TNA is pulling the plug on the Suicide character which I think is a pity. I really liked the concept. Hell, I even liked the cheesy voice. With the right writing, they could've really turned him into something ultra cool. Even if it would've been unrealistic, it could have kicked ass. Hell, Undertaker is a badass and he's shooting lightnings and disappearing in thin air.

On that note, am I the only one who misses characters like that? I know wrestling's going for realism these days, but I miss the whacky unrealistic characters too. Gangrel, Undertaker (when he was still active) and a bunch of others. I always thought they are entertaining as hell. I guess they have no place in 2013 but I sure miss them.

Either way, RIP Suicide, hello Evan Bourne Lite.

RIP Suicide, Welcome Manic! ;) (they should at least have given him another costume! lol)

About characters, yea wrestling was much more fun with characters. There was a change over a more plain wrestling style in around 2000 where everyone had a similar look. I think the last character before Suicide was the guy eating worms in the WWE.

TNA shoots itself in the foot yet again.

so what was the point of the suit being stolen to have Aries win the X division title?

you reveal TJ Perkins as the guy behind the mask, and now TJ Perkins is behind the mask in the same suit under a different name. the only difference in the Suicide suit and the Manik suit is the name Suicide across the chest. the "M" was always there, just covered by the Suicide name.
they could have at least come up with a new/different suit. I think it's just ******ed to use the same suit. everyone knows this is not only TJ Perkins, but as long as they use this suit everyone will still recognize this guy as "Suicide". people will be watching and they will mention "Manic" to where viewers will be confused because no that's Suicide.

I thought it could have been cool to go to a similar suit, but with like rips and maybe black. the moves TJ Perkins does remind me of Spiderman, like the move where he hangs between the ropes. a suit something like the black one from Spiderman 3 would have been better.
