Thinking about getting a couple of tattoos...

Xemmy

of the Le'beau family
I'm wanting to get some Frankenstein stitch tattoos around my wrists for my birthday in a few days.
I love the idea, but I'm worried about it effecting career opportunities and what not.

What do you guys think?

For some reason I had it in my head that you're a kid.

As long as you've thought about it for a long time, you should do it.

It's 100% your choice. But the one thing I would say is that I'm 99% certain that some companies frown upon visible tattoos, and one on the wrist might be hard to cover up.

If you plan on going into the corporate world (where companies are more likely to frown on visible tattoos), I would be wary of something that would be difficult to cover up. If you don't plan on it, then it obviously doesn't matter. If you're unsure as to whether you'd want to work in the corporate world or not, then you'd probably be best suited to proceed as if you want to, in the event you ultimately choose to pursue that.

(Almost) Any respectable job/career choice out there will (likely) never hire you with visable tattoos, especially stupid/racist/sexist looking ones.

While the idea is nice, and on a personal note I'm a big fan of doing what makes you happy - so if you want them, get them; the fact is if you do, you'll never land a promising job without some major backstory and convincing that you aren't a hoodlum/thug.

My (former) Asst. Manager had music notes running up and down her entire arm (similar to Sandman's barbwire tattoo) While it was an innocent enough tattoo and had the exact lyrics to a favorite song of her's.. the Company refused to let her wear short-sleeves at any time, including Summer. She had to wear long sleeves at ALL times to cover it up.

Try an tweak it a bit and make it into a bracelet or bracelet size. That way if they do have a problem with it you just put a bracelet or watch on.

Best choice is to get one in an obscure location. Like they said above, getting a job with a visible tattoo is pretty unlikely. They don't hire where I work if the uniform doesn't hide it completely. Though my pick for a tattoo would probably be this:

Actually, this is what I was gonna say. I've been with the same local pizza place (along with some bar jobs/construction where they don't care about said things) for almost eight years now. The owners refuse to promote me to management because of my tattoo's, and I have to wear long sleeves year round, even though I work right next to a 500 degree oven.

I say, get the work somewhere a little less obvious than the wrist. Even as little as raising the location by 2 or 3 inches would work, as you can cover that up with long-sleeved button down shirts...

Visible tattoos are never a good idea, so I wouldnt do it.

But if you really want that, and its important to you...then go ahead.

No one can make this decision for you. I have a visible tattoo and have corporate responsibilities in my job.

Do what makes you happy.

Get a cross on your back.

You seem obsessed with my atheism.

To all else. Thanks.

Now, another thing that I haven't mentioned to anyone that want's to give further opinion, is that I'm a very big fan of dress shirts even in the summer, and I'm in the middle of getting my college degree.
Does that make a difference to anyone?

And you seem obsessed with religion.

The fact that you're asking people on a forum about whether you should get it or not should tell you that you shouldn't.

Yea man, did some preacherdude come along and snatch a lolli pop from you when you were a child?

No god no jesus, roses have thorns blah blah blah. We get it, fuck

A little general opinion doesn't hurt the fact that I want the tattoo. I'm getting it. Whether it be now, or it be 30 years down the road when I have a stable career.

And it's been nearly a month since I've even made a Jesus-jab. Hardly an obsession.

And no Norcal. I was raped viciously by a road side band of pastors and priests.

I'm getting a tattoo, still yet to get round to it but I always said when I got one I'd wait a year and if in a years time I wanted it in the same place then it's best to go for it

That's a pretty good policy.
