Things you LIKED about Wrestlemania 27

The Idiot

Getting Noticed By Management
Wow...what a concept. Call me crazy, call me a complete tool...but there was quite a few things I actually enjoyed and wouldn't change about Wrestlemania 27.
I understand it's gotten alot of criticism, which is justified. I will also admit that it's been one of the worst Manias in recent years. However, in my opinion...it was not a "horrible" show...and I will go over the things that I THINK were well booked.

-HBK not being involved in the Taker/HHH match was a GOOD thing. He's retired and was just inducted in the HOF. Why spoil that moment by having him cost Taker the match, or even get involved? The two men settled their differences one on one...isn't that what we want anyway? Run-ins at Wrestlemania shouldn't happen. Undertaker winning was great...and made HHH look good as well. The crowd bought into that tombstone finish, as did I. Great job on both parts.

-The Rock opening the show was another good thing. I liked how he came out and got the crowd going before the first match. He is the "Host" afterall.

-I don't see anything wrong with Edge/ADR as the opening match. It was kind of a shocker and the crowd's full attention was given. They didn't have to follow a 4 star match which will lead to a tired crowd. I liked it...I like who went over....although the post match antics was stupid. Face it...the WHC is not the #1 title...we've known that for quite a few years now, which is why a unification needs to happen in the next couple years...possibly WM 30 at MSG.

-Miz retains the championship. This was a great thing....in fact it was awesome. Long title reigns are few and far between these days, and the Miz is the perfect guy to carry the strap for the future. Could they have had a better main event? Of course. Could it have ended differently? Yes. But it doesn't take a genius to figure out that they were running out of time. The PPV slot was allowed 4 hours...and with only a few minutes left you knew the end was coming. For this instance...I don't blame the workers, I blame the booking for too much backstage stuff. That I would have cut down on and given the main event a full 45 minutes instead of 20.

-The promo videos were all very well done...especially the Miz video. The production team did a great job from top to bottom. The look and feel for this Wrestlemania was better than ever...and the videos were some of the best I've seen.

-Orton/Punk was a great match, and had a great ending. Was it in the right placement of the lineup? No....it should have been towards the end and Orton was right to be pissed. Regardless...it was a great match. Whether the right guy won or not is subjective, we needed to have a quality match on the card and we got it.

The main problem I saw with this PPV was there was too much attention given to things that did not matter. The backstage stuff, Snookie, Cole and Lawler, and the Edge and Christian post match car beatdown could have been cut back a bit to allow more time for the important matches.

But there were still some great things about the show...and hopefully Vince sees the things they did wrong and fix them for next year.

Although I agree with most that it was a very flawed Mania, I think there were definitely some bright spots, as you mentioned.

The Miz video package was awesome, agreed. Glad the Miz retained the title too, even if the execution and the match wasn't great. Orton vs Punk was very entertaining. I love both guys, kind of glad Orton won though too. Rey vs Cody I enjoyed a lot, it surprised me. HHH vs Taker, although I don't think it was as good as the HBK/Taker matches, and although I thought it started off way too slow due to the big bumps right away and resting periods, I thought in the 2nd half of the match especially it told a great great story and was on the edge of my seat. Edge/Del Rio I thought was a nice surprise as an opener, since there was no US title match (which was lame) and no MitB.

Also, as much as I loved that final promo between HHH/Taker/HBK on the final Raw before Mania, I agree I'm glad HBK didn't interfere either, even if I was kind of excited at the prospect of it happening lol. Once it didn't happen, I instantly realized it was a good move.

Theres more dislikes than likes but here they are:

Loved the set of the stage. The cube thing that was above the ring looked good during peoples entrances.

Loved the Edge v Del Rio match. Would of liked to see Del Rio win.

Also loved Rey Mysterio v Rhodes. Great match.

Great mark out moment when CM Punk jumped off the ropes and Randy hit him with an RKO. The match was okay. From two great talents i expected more from them.

The 8 man tag match, i though was actully good even tho it lasted for 3 minutes. The same with the 6 person tag match.

Loved HHH's entrance. Would of liked to see him wear the mask and his cape during the whole of his entrance. The match with Trips and Taker was awesome. IMO was better dan Taker v HBK at WM 25.

Loved the video packages for The Miz and Cena. Was very happy that The Miz retained the WWE title.

Thats about it...

Well I liked a lot about Mania, the only major problem was the booking of stuff.

I really enjoyed the matches. I thought Del Rio and Edge put on a good match, it shouldn't have been as short. Rey and Cody, was good as well.

I really liked the Taker/HHH match. Thought it told a great story.

The set was awesome, as well as The rock's promos.

- I loved that Edge went over Del Rio. This dude is way to young to get such a huge accomplishment in getting a championship win at Wrestlemania in less than a year. Good call, good match.

- I loved the match between Cody and Rey. Good execution all around, and Cody proved to me that he is an exceptional wrestler. Also another great call in Cody going over.

- I loved the limb psychology in the Randy Orton/CM Punk match.

- The Taker/HHH match was brilliant. Nuff said.

- Though the execution of the match was somewhat poor, I LOVED the outcome of the Cena/Miz match. Miz solidified his self as a true top star, and that outweighs the actual match in my eyes.

But most of all,

- I loved Wrestlemania 27.

There are a few things I liked about WrestleMania 27.

- I liked the fact that Christian did not turn heel on Edge. I think that the way in which Christian has been booked in the past few weeks could lead to an IC Championship victory for Christian. If Edge and Christian ever decide to feud again, Edge should be the one to go heel as he is better in that role.

- I liked Rock's interaction with Stone Cold. It was the only cool moment Rock had that night apart from the finish where he screwed Cena.

- Orton/ Punk was my match of the night. It is refreshing to see a face sell an injury that he had obtained prior to the match.

- I liked what happened after the HHH/ Undertaker match. Undertaker being carried out on a stretcher with "Ain't no Grave" playing in the background was a neat effect.

- I loved the video packages for both Miz and John Cena. It kinda symbolized what both men stand for.

- I think that Miz was booked well in the main event. There is no way any heel gets a clean victory over John Cena and so Miz did the next best thing. He did not cheat blatantly to win and even kicked out of an FU and thus showed that he was equal to Cena in every way.

- Finally... Rock screwing Cena was great but it looks even better now with their maatch getting announced at WrestleMania 28.

things i liked:

1. Miz kicking out of the Attitude Adjustment (biggest cheer of the nigth for me, because i was unexpected)

2. Snooki's moves (very impressive, didn't see it coming)

3. Rock-Stone Cold Moment

4. King-JR reunion on commentary

5. Stunners (thought Stone Cold was in great shape, his best appearance in years)

6. Rock Bottom (i know some peopel say it was cheap finish...regardless, when he hit the Rock Bottom ii marked out like crazy)

I like the show a lot actually. My two highlights were the Taker/HHH match and Rhodes/Mysterio. Thought both were very good.

Thought Edge/Del Rio and Punk/Orton were also good.

The ME wasn't bad, though clearly rushed so that let it fall a little.

Like others have said, the issue wasn't the matches, it was the back-stage stuff taking away from the matches and leaving them less then they could have been.

Thing I find funniest is I have seen a lot of people bitch and complain about WM 27 and then in their critique say that they liked Edge/Del Rio, Rhodes/Mysterio, Punk/Orton, and Taker/HHH. The way I look at it there were 6 matches that people were really looking forward to (not counting the multi-person tags as everyone pretty much knew what to expect) and 4 of those 6 were good and 1 was OK. The only match that I felt really failed to live up to the hype was Lawler/Cole. Also, the issue of dark-matching the US Title match sucked.

I know I kind of went off topic there, just wanted to rant a bit.

i suppose i am one of the few who actually loved WM 27! Really in all honesty i think the people that didn't like the show need to stop being so picky! Look at the 2 world title matches......... A young talent against a veteran in both matches so of course it doesn't have the star power of Rock-Austin but both were good matches IMO

The triple h Undertaker match was one of the best matches i've seen in years and was way better then my expectations!

Both of the shitty tag matches we're kept short but sweet

Orton Punk put on a great match with what they had to work with

Rhodes Mysterio had a GREAT match with Cody getting a big win!

Alot of things about this mania were good and i definitely was a mania building the stars of the future, so all of you that didn't like this mania have to remember this isn't the "Attitude Era" this is a new WWE and they are rebuilding! it will take some time but i am looking forward to what the future brings:lol:

RkoMachine I was at WM 27 with my friend and we loved just everything about it. Both Title Matches had two of the biggest Heels in WWE right now challenging for (ADR) and defending a Title (The Miz).

Triple H & Undertaker put a classic and I would love to see them go at one more time.

Randy Orton & CM Punk had a good Match with lots of back & forth action. The RKO in mid-air was great.

I liked Rey Mysterio & Cody Rhodes with Cody getting a huge win on the biggest night of the year.

Edge/Del Rio was a good opener to get everyone in the GA Dome going.

The Rock cut a good promo to start it off and we were going right along with him.

Snooki impressed me with some of her moves in the Ring including the handstand stuff in the corner.

My friend and I liked the Stone Cold Stunners espeically on Jack Swagger. Felt kinda bad for Josh Matthews though.

So I don't know why this Wrestlemania is getting some negative reviews and I don't know what some people expectations were, frankly I don't care. People need to realize that while the Attitude Era was good overall ITS NOT COMING BACK.

I actually liked Wrestlemania 27 apart from the match order and the main event.

The stage was AMAZING I was jizzing all over my sofa when I saw the stage. The Rocks introduction was pretty cool and I thought to my self..FINALLY Vince is gona give the fans a proper show. Which he always should at Wrestlemania since it's Wrestlemania, WWE's superbowl.

But after The Rocks promo it went downhill straight away, and thought Fuck You Vince. The first match wasn't that bad, it got the crowd rolling. It would have been much better if some other match was first to get the crowd heated up, like Sheamus and Bryan. I'm pretty sure they would have given us a good or decent match. Edge and ADR's match was alright, but like I said should have been later in the card since it was the WORLD TITLE match, but oh well.

I don't know why the fuck Vince would put the 8 man tag team match instead of the US title. No one gave a flying fuck about that match, and they made The Corre lose all the credibility they ever had, by getting pinned by Santino of all people. This match should have been 2nd, with The CORRE squashing the other 4.

The crowd was pretty good and it made the show and the matches much better. I don't know how it felt on T.V but, I had a stream on which I bought and had the volume on fall so it felt pretty nice.

The HHH vs Taker match was a spot fest, we weren't even into the 10 mins of the match and we already see a table get used. Poor booking IMO they should have had them wrestle in the ring for a good 8-10 mins THEN go outside and have your spot party. What the fuck was that with all the near falls? Does WWE think that they can't have a good match without near falls? That too with their finishing moves? It was fine in 2009 with HBK, but they over did it in this match. It was a pretty good match overall but I think they messed up what could have been much better.

King Vs Cole..Man..I read that, that match was 15 minutes long or something and said really? really Vince? This should have been a squash aswell with King beating the shit out of Cole and getting the win in 5-6 mins at most, but FUCK 15 mins? That too for this piece of shit of a match? Facepalm moment

The 6 person tag match was alright, short and sweet, no complaints should have been earlier in the evening, not before the main event and after HHH vs Taker.

Rey vs Cody pretty good match, but it did look like they weren't their best there, a lot of moves weren't executed properly. A good match nonetheless.

Orton Vs Punk pretty good once again, but I think Punk should have gone over, with a GTS off of a top rope or something :P.

The main-event was fucked up pretty badly. On wikipedia it says this match lasted 19 mins, it sure as hell didn't feel like 19 mins. This match should have been at most 22 mins long with a proper finish. Instead of getting double counted out, I would have had Alex Riley accidentally nail the ref with the title belt, then run off, THEN The Rocks music hits, and the ref is down Cena goes for the AA, Rock comes Rock Bottoms Cena and leaves. This would have been a much better finish then the clusterfuck they came up with.

But whatever, lets see what they do a next year with Rock and Cena headlining. I hope they don't fuck that up as well.

I dont know why everyone gives WM 27 a bad rap? Has anyone seen WM 2, 9, 7, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13? these are all awfull WM's, good memoires, but horrible matches! Id rather watch WM 27 anyday over these WM's. I enjoyed Del Rio v Edge (not sure about it starting first though) Loved Rhodes v Rey, loved punk v orton and thought HHH v taker was a classic! And the stare-down between rock and austin was magic! i also thought rock was cracking some pretty decent jokes about may young.

WM 27 was the worst WM i had ever seen but it was not a bad show, just bad compared to the other WMs. I liked the CM Punk/ Randy Orton match, it was too short but the finisher was amazing. The multi superstars matches should have been dark matches and they should have kept the Sheamus/Daniel Bryan match. I liked the stone cold/booker t segment, especially the stunner booker t received! The opening match was pretty cool, i did not at all expect edge to win, and i was shocked but happy to see him win.

All in all, it was good but nothing compared to WM26 or any other WM.

With a while now to look back on it I figured I'd put in the things I like.

I agree with HBK not being involved in the Streak match being good. I think HBK now he's retired should stay retired. I would love to see him in the ring again but for HBK as a person he should just stay away. The simplest mistake like a slip can turn his retirement into being spent in a wheelchair.

Cody going over Mysterio. Cody is in my opinion going to be huge. I've loved his character recently and thats saying something because when I first heard about the Dashing thing I thought it was lame but the boy has taken the reigns and ran with it. Makes me think he'll be a star above others because he obviously cares.

Edge Del Rio and Punk Orton were both great matches. They showed the art of wrestling being mixed with entertainment is still there and still possible.

Edge retaining, this is with the benefit of hindsight obviously. But he deserved to walk out of WM with the title that once. Great moment again in hindsight.

Stone Cold looking like he was having a great time. He shouldn't wrestle again for the same reasons as HBK and I don't want him appearing every week for the reason that it stops it being as special as it is at the moment but seeing the guy I got into wrestling through back in the ring and obviously enjoying himself was great.

I know it's kind of split people but I loved HHH Taker was a pure battle of giants.

Like always it looked amazing. The promo videos, with Cenas and Miz's actually being better than the match, were great, the set was great it was smooth and looked fantastic but then again I always expect that from the E they've perfected it.

JR and King behind the desk again. Doubt much more has to be said but any other combination available at the moment just looks minor leagues next to these two.

Let's see.... Things I actually LIKED about Wrestlemania 27.... Well, the opening match between Del Rio and Edge was good. Trips and Undertaker had a great match and by far the best on the card. Trips' entrance with the Metallica playing might very well have been the best part of the show because of them using one of my favorite songs in For Whom The Bell Tolls and for how awesome Trips looked. He looked kind of like Shao Khan from Mortal Kombat! I also liked the staredown backstage between Stone Cold and The Rock. The video packages for Cena and Miz were very well done. That's basically it. Although the bad outweights the good, there are still a few cool things about Wrestlemania 27 that I liked even though the show was so disappointing.
