i dont't knoe about u guys, but i wondering, would'nt it be better if it was a 4 sided ring than six sides? I mean i started watching tna, about6 months ago, and it was kool for the first couple of months until now. I m finding it really annoying, i dont know, im just curious abouit wat u guys think. because for me its really getting annoying.

its different but i dont see anything wrong with it.Only gripe i have is that i cant believe the NWA titles(heavyweight and tag) are defended in an untraditional ring and nwa is supposed to be all about tradition. But i guess when when you lease something you can do things however you see fit. /jim cornette mode off lol

Yeah, I liked it better at first. But then I realized that it just looks like they're cramped in there. It looks like guys have to slow down after they get an irish whip just so they don't run into the ropes too fast.

The six-sided ring is great for X-Division matches though. Unfortunately, it's really not working for everyone else. It's not good when you've gotta look behind you to make sure you don't accidentally throw someone into the ropes.

I like the ring. I have since the beginning and see the opportunites for offense that it provides. I like the fact that it doesn't cater to the WWE style of running and clotheslining for every other move, but is built for high flyers and has more turnbuckles to speak of. It's not that I prefer it as being better, but it's different and I like the unique nature of it. The only thing I really wished is that TNA would expand the ringside area to have a greater diameter so that there would be more room for planchas, topes, and the like. Also, so that there would be more room for brawling outside. I know this probably wouldn't happen until TNA moves into arenas rather than Universal, but I can hope. I know this is off topic, but I really miss the runway that WCW and ECW would use at times. It gave another dimension to the offense on the outside. In ECW it was great seeing Taz and Bam Bam go through it, and to see how the juniors like Super Crazy and Tajiri would make use of it.

The ring does'nt bother me, I dont really notice anymore. As long as they put on decent matches it does'nt matter. It also make's them stand out more, that's probably the reason for the change.

I think it better for the battle royals and six man tags. For singles matches I prefer the old ring.

There is nothing wrong with the ring. TNA is supposed to be somthing different, an alternative to the WWE and that's exactly what they did when they switched to the 6 sided ring.

i agree

its not the 50's or the 60's nomore its time for a change, n the 6sided ring is the new era of wrestling..Give it acouple years WWE will probably change it to 6 sides when TNA becomes the number 1 show

WWE will never change it to a six sided ring...there is no way vince McMahon is goin to copy the competion thats just stupid

Onto the point, the whole point of the Six Sided Ring is to be original. Its a way to set themselves apart from the Competition. Not only that but it gives their Wrestlers and extra dimension, in that they are able to work a Six Sided Ring as well as the more traditional Four Sided Ring. For me in the beginning it did tend to slow the wrestlers down slightly, but I think the majority of them have adjusted to the style. It also gives TNA some time before throwing Titles on new comers, because they have to learn to work the ring before hand, its possibly one of the reasons they didnt hotshot the NWA Title onto Angle so quickly, to give him time to adjust to the Six Sided Ring.

I don't know about you guys
but I think that the 6 sided ring is better than a 4 sided
because it makes it different to WWE's rings

at first i really hated the six sides of ring, because i thought it looked different, and they were just trying to get attention. but lately i think it was an awesome idea, and i like it more than 4 sides.

IMO it gives the x division stars more room to work with, and they can do more unique moves. It doesn't really hurt the heavyweights either, so i think there is nothing wrong with it

^ i think that they were trying to get attention too, but i think they have the same amount of room as a normal 4 sided ring. for the x division i think its not a bad idea cause they wanted to make the x division as original as they can, but for the heavyweights i think it looks a little goofy.

TNA didn't come up with the six-sided ring- they've been using it in Mexican El Lucha Libre for years. The only difference is TNA made it a little smaller to tighten the ropes for the high flyers. Having seen both shows live, there's not really that much size difference between the four and six sides, and Angle and Sting seem to have adapted well enough. As for WWE changing? I seriously doubt it. They're more likely to copy the octagon if Shane succeeds in pushing an MMA division, but even then I'm sure they'll stick with four sides. Vinnie Mac doesn't like to admit that anything he does doesn't work or isn't innovative enough.

I think that both types of rings are equally good. Four sides because it's classic and 6 sides because it adds more moves. Right now the ring is small, but they'll get a bigger one when they move out of Orlando (They had a bigger one in Detroit for Bound For Glory). Then it will be even better.

That's a huge judgement call you're making. How is TNA going to be number 1 in a couple of years if they're not even showing signs of drawing at larger arenas. Besides TNA has been running for the past four years and they're still seen as the minor leagues and for good reason. But back to the subject, I was wowed at first by the ring but now I'm annoyed because some people don't adapt well to the ring than others. People talk about the ring is suitable for the X Division but remember TNA survived three years with the traditional four sided ring and the X Division did quite well in the ring. There wasn't any major issues on their ability. But I think the six sided ring was TNA trying to gain publicity and notoriaty by using a different style of ring but from where I'm sitting, they still have a long ways to becoming number 1.

I agree, i just never notice it anymore, plus it is a great way to distinguish yourself from the competition without threatning the integrety of what wrestling is and what your company wants to do. And also as quoted somewhere else in the thread (which i cant be arsed to find) it helps shy away from the clothesline all the time of one rope scenairo.

MMA has over took Boxing as the most popular fighting. UFC is the top program and it has octagon so it is different from everything else. The four sided ring was taken from boxing. UFC has become popular and TNA is using the same concept to keep the new generation fans excited.

Or, it could be because TNA had a working relationship with AAA Wrestling (mexican lucha libre) in 2004, the same year they debuted TNA Impact! and AAA uses a six-sided ring more suited for their high-flying style. Also, Konnan was pretty instrumental in the beginning of AAA, so that probably plays a role, too. Not to mention all the other luchadore wrestlers that have competed at TNA Impact!.

i love the 6 sided ring because it provides opportunity for alot more different moves and seems to help a little with the fast-paced matches. It's good to see a change from the old 4-sided ring we're all used to.

I'm completely used to it and I like it more than the four sided ring now. Change is not always for the worse.

shut. up. heratic!!!! there is nothign wrong with the six sides... its wonderfull in all its uniqueness you will be doomed for tyour blasphamy

UFC has an octagon. And there's tons of room to move in their cages. So, I think the 6-sided ring works, but they need to widen it a bit to allow more room to move inside the ring.
