During today’s First Quarter Earnings Release conference call, WWE Chief Operating Officer Michael Sileck announced that the company would be pulling the second annual ECW December to Dismember pay-per-view event from its schedule. According to Sileck, three WWE pay-per-views in five weeks is “just too much.”

This news does not come as a surprise to anyone backstage in WWE considering that last year’s ECW December to Dismember was an abysmal failure. While the show did include an Elimination Chamber main event, only two matches were promoted, and the entire event lasted just over two hours. Consequently Paul Heyman was demoted as the lead writer for the ECW brand shortly after.

3 in 5 weeks is too much? Way to spin it guy. Anyways, is anyone really disappointed that this pre-Holiday debacle has been canned? Maybe now they can do some decent build for Armageddon and New Year's Revolution.

Well with the PPV's now being tri brand there was no point to it. There's too many PPV's as it is. I expected them to drop it.

Yeah you guys are right they could now have a decent build up to matches for armageddon and NYR because there was so little time for armageddon that teddy long had to announce all the matches in the beginning so they could quickly get on with storylines

I think everyone hated DTD 2006, and Vince knows it. Plus with the tri brand PPV's now, as my fellow Stoke-On-Trenter Jake stated, there really is no need for it. ECW isn't strong enough as it is to hold a ECW only event, as it is anyway.

And yeah, like tom said, there will be more time to build up to more important Pay Per Views. I think it was a wise choice to drop it.

i actually liked the one night stand ecw ppv's, it wasnt totally an ecw product, but i thought that was how ecw needed to produce television b4 being bankrupted.

as for D2D, well that garbage should be flushed, vince should have realized you cant make ecw into a wwe type event.

PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! Imus gets fired. Paris Hilton is on her way to the joint and now there won't be another D2D. All I need is Barry Bonds to be caught with steroids and I can die a happy man. The guys in charge of the WWE, Vince included, would have to be completely brain dead to not realize that D2D was a bomb and killed them money wise. Lets hope this is the start of fixing the many mistakes in the WWE.
