Getting Noticed By Management
I have recently rediscovered the Warlord on youtube and am wandering why he didnt get over more in wrestling. He def had a very unique look and was one of largest wrestlers of that time and maybe all time. I grew up in the Bahamas and remember a wrestling show there in about 95 or 96 where there were about 15 people (no kidding) in the audience and the show still went on. Warlord was one of the guys there and I remember being terrified of being so close to him. I didn't even want to get near him.

His wrestling moves aside, why couldnt a guy with that cool a look become a bigger player? Were monster heels really pushed in those days or were they just a circus act. What are your thoughts on Warlord and will we ever see him again in a big company ring?

The Warlord was an impressive specimen but he was very robotic and had zero personality. I could be wrong in that last statement but he never got a chance to show it. Warlord was a heel, a face gimmick wouldnt have worked at the time, especially if he couldnt speak and from that era I think Justice and Earthquake were both better main event heels.

Did I mention the Undertaker was born around 1991? Maybe that paid due to Warlords silent, menacing character.

I would assume the reason the Warlord didn't get a monster push was because he wasn't very good in the ring or on the mic. Matter of fact, I can't remember ever seeing a warlord promo, EVER!!! He either had Mr. Fuji or Slick doing his talking for him. Plus he looked like a juicer and WWE at that time was just starting to be investagated for steriods so that could of played a role in it too.

He did a shoot last year for RF and he said that he felt more comfortable as a tag team wrestler, and that once the Powers of Pain was broken up, he knew that his time in the WWF was coming to an end.

Is this the powers of pain DVD or is there on with him by himself. I would be interested in getting a copy of that.

The Warlord was awesome. I loved him as a kid and thought the powers of pain were one of the best tag teams ever. I completely lost interest in the warlord once he started dressing like the Phantom of the Opera. I think he rapidly declined with that stupid new gimmic and faded into obscurity.
