AN ALBUM OF GREAT OPENING TRACKS

It is very important to choose the correct song to open an album, as it can immediately change or confirm a listeners opinion on the band. A great opening track sets the tone for the rest of the album, letting the listener know what they are in for.

I have looked through my CDs and come up with a 16 track album of what I believe are all great opening album tracks, probably not the same as yours would be, but I think it makes for an excellent album.

Overall, a mixture of Metallica's slower and faster songs covering their entire back catalogue. I had to go 2 disc on this as Metallica have done far too many great songs for just a single disc.

Brand New is a band that started out as a complete Emo band, and over time, they've gotten infinitely weirder, and deeper at the same time.They don't falll into the rut of being depressed and angry though, rather, they look to solve real life problems through their songs. They're also responsible for four of my favorite songs of all time. This will be a shorter list, because their songs are generally longer, in the 6 to 7 minute range.

I think what I like best about these guys is the way that they can turn pain into something beautiful, which is something I can identify well with. They do a great job of mxing up their true spiritual questions with real life problems, mostlyh evidenced in Jesus Christ. Ive never heard lyrics in my life that I identify more with then from this band.

Besides the bonus tracks, that was pretty much the setlist 3DD played when I saw them live about a year ago. I added in some songs that didnt get played that I wished would. Pretty much all of these very best of tracks are like workout soundtracks or just mix cd's ive made of my favorite band's tunes. This band isn't the most popular among internet fans, but I grew up with them for the most part and they were one of the first artists I REALLY got into. Plus they are the only middle ground band so to speak with me and my dad. Just good memories and their songs have gotten me through some rough times. Strongly recommend you guys listen to "The Only One You've Got". One of the most if not most motivational songs Ive ever heard.

"When I'm Gone" is a fucking great song man, also "Here Without You" is another classic. I will definitely check out that motivational song you recommended dude, my brother is always telling me listen to more 3 Doors Down. Tried to rep you, guess i gotta give more people some before I do you again. Ive honestly never heard one even remotely bad song from 3 doors down and ive listened to every song they've ever put out. I will never understand the hate that they get, but hey all personal opinions. Must have something to do with the "generic rock radio" bs people say. Apparently getting radio play is a bad thing nowadays

I especially like them because they support the military more so than any band I know, im in the army in iraq right now so "When Im Gone" hits home for me every way imaginable. Ya "The Only One I've Got" has some of the best lyrics I've personally ever heard. Definitly check them out man

Soundgarden are a band I first got into thanks to a poster on another wrestling forum about 5 years ago. As he knew I already liked Audioslave, he recommended trying Chris Cornell's old band. I picked up the Superunknown album and never looked back.

I originally got into Nickatina's work a few years ago, and over that time I've managed to listen to his over 20 cd's multiple times(including his early work as Dre Dog). This best of list I've created is actually one of three that I have for him in my own library of music; though I did modify this one a little bit, just for you WZ.

So this list manages to just squeeze in under the 80min mark, and gives a pretty diverse selection of Nickatina's music. You can find all these videos on youtube, I just selected 8 various ones that I thought did a good job of showing his range of different rap styles.

Nickatina's been releasing records since 93' and only his first two albums where released under the name Dre Dog. Nickatina's been rapping for almost 20 years and he's still releasing some of the freshest raps today, just listen to the second track Blind Genius(video provided) he's still at the top of his game.

I hope someone out there enjoys this. Anyone out there who's looking for something new in the rap world should check out Nickatina's work, he's got plenty to choose from and you can't go wrong with any selection.
