I Am The One Who Knocks
Well the title says it all. Any fans of the show Supernatural? I know there are a few. Eternal Dragon and Klunderbunker will probably post here. Anyways on to discussing the awesomeness of this show.

A little while ago KB and ED were talking about this show Supernatural. I figured what the hell I'll check it out. Im glad I did. It truly is a fantastic show. There are only a handful of episodes that actually suck. Which is very rare in any good show.

The way they go about chasing the ghosts, demons, werewolves, vampires, and such is absolutely amazing. The two main characters were cast appropriatley. Its a very serious show, a very funny show at times, and downright a damn good show in general.

So lets get some discussion going in here. What was your favorite episode?

Mine was definitly the one in the first season where Dean gets sick. Then Sam goes off to find a way to heal his brother and comes across a spiritual healer. Story moves on and they find out the only way these people are living is because a Reaper is actually taking the lives of other people. The best part of this whole episode is how they depict the reaper. Its not some guy in a long suit with a hood and a scythe. I really cant explain it but they did an excellent job with this episode.

So now its your turn. Lets hopefully have some good discussion.

I'll go with the time loop episode where Sam keeps living the same day over and over. The sequence where Dean dies time after time had me cracking up. It's a lighter episode, but did a great job of setting the stage for Sam potentially being alone later in the show should something happen to Dean. The song got on my nerves after awhile, but overall a great episode with great comedy.

The spiritual healer epsiode was good as well. There's rarely a bad episode in this series. The Healer was good in that it led you to believe one thing and shifts completely at the end. Not to mention, I believe at the end they tied it into the main plot of the season, something this show does very well. It's a great show, one of the best on tv today, and I can't wait for next season.

Ah yes. The time loop episode how could I forget. That episode was great. Each time that Dean died it was very humorous. Then in the end to find out it was the Trickster was truly hysterical. To be honest the Trickster was also in another one of my favorite episodes.

In the spiritual healing episode I just loved the way they depicted the reaper. He seemed like a normal man but in a way very creepy. Then you get to see another reaper in the first episode of the second season. That reaper was very creepy looking, and that episode was very heartbreaking too.

For the worst episode I would have to go with the Hook Man episode. To me that had no purpose to be in the show. Its already been overdone in pop culture with I Know What You Did Last Summer. They did nothing new with this particular episode which was a let down. Plus there really is nothing you can do with it. I dont know. It just wasnt one of my favorites.

Yeah the Hook Man was bad. So was Bloody Mary. A lot of the episodes in the middle of the seasons are more filler than anything else. There's not much going on after about the first 5 episodes until around the tenth-eleventh of the season. Then the main plot starts to get rolling. Another bad one was the second of the series, the Wendigo. Yes it moved forward with them trying to find their dad, but it just didn't do it for me. Not bad, but dull at best.

Ahhh I love you so much for making this! <3 Even if it just three people posting here!

I think you chose a REALLY good episode to be your favorite. "Faith," was amazing in everyway. I love how after Dean gets sick, he's still joking in the hospital trying to save face, but we see that all crumble when he tells Sam to just accept that he's dying, and Sam just flat out refuses to let it happen.

Dean: "I know it's not easy but I'm gonna die and you can't stop it."
Sam: "Watch me."

I love how Sam calls their Dad and leaves a message about Dean, but even that's not enough to bring John there. The one thing that just caught me in this episode was the fact that it talked about having faith in different things. Having faith in yourself, in your family, in strangers, in religion. One of my favorite lines from ANY show is Layla's line to Dean at the end- "You have to have faith even when the miracles don't happen." Also the use of "Don't Fear the Reaper" was so f'ing perfect that it's not even funny.

Okay, anyways my favorite episode is... hmph this is REALLY hard because there are so many great episodes. I really, really liked In My Time of Dying (season 2 premier) and All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2 (Season 2 finale). I think both episodes were really well written and acted and the stories in both were amazing. It was so interesting how Dean was the apparition in IMTOD and he had an outside view on Sam and John, his only family. The way the episode ended was heartbreaking, but in a way the whole season premier was. Dean demanding John to do something, to save him; Sam telling Dean that he had to wake up because they were just starting to be brothers again; and finally John telling Sam he just didn't want to fight anymore before he died. And GOD where do I even get started on AHBL Part 2. If I've ever seen some GREAT acting it is in that episode from Jensen and Jared. Those first 10 minutes where you can practically FEEL Dean's desperation and grief and anger, and then Dean telling Bobby to let the world end because his already has. Talk about taking out your heart and stamping on it. And OF COURSE there's Dean's speech to the dead Sam, where he ends it by yelling "What am I supposed to do?" The symbolism there is just WOW because Dean's been taking orders his whole life, from John, and his whole purpose was to keep Sam safe and without that what is he really supposed to do? So he does the only thing he can, brings that purpose back into his life by selling his own soul. A selfless act for completely selfish reasons. And I don't mean to leave Jared out because I thought he did Sam REALLY well in this episode, especially when he kills Jake and vows to save Dean. It was perfect.

And I'm totally rambling, but I love this show, so that tends to happen a lot.

I had forgotten about those. What took you so long Dragon? There's been a thread open about this for 30 minutes already! Just messing with you, you know we love you. Anyway, those were both great in their own right. Supernatural can be so dramatic at times is insane. It's a perfect mix of action, comedy and drama it's hard to believe. Sam and Dean are so perfect together sometimes, you'd think they're really brothers. The times where one of them is dead or on the verge thereof even makes my heart break, and that never happens.

I think the fact that Jensen and Jared are so close off screen translates on screen and the chemistry that they have is unbelieveable as actors. Supernatural just recently won two awards for best chemistry and that really is what makes this show. Because despite what some people may think, just because it's called Supernatural doesn't mean that is the main focus. Family is what it's really all about. Brotherhood. And that's one of the things I admire about the actors in this show, they embody these characters, until all you can do is believe that they really are brothers.

Oh and I think it'd be really interesting to discuss the music used on this show, just because I think it's definitely what sets Supernatural aside from a lot of the other shows.

Really. I loved the Wendigo episode, pronounced When Dee (Im watching you Dragon) Go. I thought it was a cool creature. It really didnt have much to do with the plot but it didnt need to really. Its one of those episodes that get by on being badass. I also really liked the Bloody Mary episode. Then again that is actually one of the few folktales that actually gets me frightened. LOL.

In the episode In My Time Of Dying. I actually cried. I'm man enough to admit it. It was a truly heartbreaking episode. Also in the season finale of this season when they are both singing Wanted Dead Or Alive. Truly heartbreaking. It starts out all fun then you see Dean realizing that hes actually going to hell.

I'm so pissed that I have to wait three months for new episodes.

Oh yeah. A friend of mine suggested this show to me and I was going to pass until she started talking about the music on it. That's what got me into it. Having all of the old rock songs are simply perfect. And as you know, you can set your watch on hearing Carry on my Wayward Son at least once a year. It's the perfect song for the series, and by Kansas. As for the chemistry, couldn't agree more. My friend and I have gotten obsessed with this show, and that's the main reason why. They're perfect together, especially when they argue. It's just like two brothers would do.

I totally forgot the Bon Jovi thing. That brought a tear to my eye also. It was their last time of being able to just be dumb and do something stupid before it all came to a head. To be able to take something so simple like singing a song with your brother and turn it into such an emotional scene is truly amazing stuff. I agree on the three months thing. I hope they get Dean out, but it could lead to a huge plot line next season.

See that's what I love about Supernatural, the way they incorporate music. Sam and Dean singing "Wanted Dead or Alive" was so touching. It wasn't sad in that sappy, overdone way. It was sad in a realistic way. I starts out as Dean just singing and enjoying music one last time, then it transforms into Sam and Dean having this one last brotherly bonding moment, and it ends up with them shooting to Dean's face while the lyrics to the song repeat "Wanted Dead or Alive,' and he realizes that he is wanted dead or alive himself and most likely will end up dead.

Another great use of music was "Renegade" by Styx in the episode "Nightshfiter." The timing was spot on and it fit really well with them fleeing the FBI. "Carry on my Wayward Son" doesn't fit anything as well as it fits Supernatural.

Oh and yeah it sucks having to wait so long for Supernatural episodes. The series not only ended in MAY, it ended six episodes early and will premier later than all of the other CW shows.

I love the way the shows balance out the serious more drama filled episodes by providing a comedy episode every now and again, and some of my favourite episodes are the comedy ones.

I like the one with the lucky rabbits foot, and also the one where the trickster was at the university. Hilarious stuff.

But the thing about the show which makes it so good as others have already said is the chemistry between the two, which makes the show highly enjoyable to watch. Also the fact that while the episode content is highly unbelievable it has a certain level of believability to it, I mean I know demons and stuff arent real but they could be interpereted (sp?) as metaphors for things that we encounter in life.

Anyway, here in Oz, we still havent finished season 3 as we are just getting episodes that were done after the writers strike, episode 14 according to Wikipedia so looking forward to the last couple of episodes and how the boys will save Dean from hell.

Ahh good to see we have another fan. I was beginning to think that there was only three of us on here. The lucky rabbits foot episode was stupendously funny. I agree with you on how they incorporate drama and comedy. Besides the chemistry of Jensen and Jared its that aspect that puts the show in my top 5 for me.

Sorry to hear that you have to wait for the last couple episodes of season 3. Hey at least you still have the luxury of seeing new episodes for the time being. LOL. Keep your eyes open as they are damn good.

We just got the season 3 finale on Sunday night here and I thought it was well done. Certainly not where I thought they were going with it, but I am intrigued as to where this leads for Season 4.

Also totally agree with the Dead or Alive song being a well done aspect.

I do like the new 'Baddie' in Lillith, but kinda hoping she goes back into the little girl, because
evil little girl = SCARY

But seeing as how Bella's incident occured in the second last episode and Ruby off somewhere, and we saw Bobby again in the last episode it has got me thinking about the semi-regular guest stars that have appeared.

Overall I think Bobby is the one who contributes the most simply because he is their go-to guy, a case could even be made for a surrogate father/brother character since the departure of John. Not to mention he is there when the boys seem to be in their deepest amount of shit. He contributes to the advancement of the series and he can also be hilarious, and I do think that he will have a bigger part in the first half of season 4 at least.

My favourite though has to be Ava, and although only appears in two episodes I am counting her as a semi-regular. I just thought she was hilarious in her first appearance and with a heel turn I didnt see coming in the second episode, I thought she was a great character and I wish we got to see more of her.

Who is your favourite and who has contributed alot to the Supernatural universe? :)

Well there Supernaturalites. I have seen the first five minutes of the Season 4 premier thanks to a very good friend with deep connections LOL. Let me tell you, it does NOT disappoint. It's very fucking EPIC to say the least. The show is called Lazarus Rising, so take it for what it is worth. It should definitely set the tone for the whole season. Will Dean get out out of hell? Will he stay there? Will Papa Winchester make a return? These questions NEED to be answered.

I know I will be glued to my TV on the 18th of September to see how this all unfolds. It should be nothing short of Epic.

I knew you were just using me to see those first five minutes. :p

After watching the first five minutes and reading ALL the speculation, I think it's obvious that this premier is probably going to be the most anticipated out of all the premiers and rightly so. Even though in season one's season finale we did have that big cliffhanger with the truck crashing into the Impala, there's nothing bigger out there than Dean's death, which is why this premier is so important. There are so many questions that need to be answered, and more than just the typical "Will Dean get out of hell?" questions. Stuff like if he does get out, what then? How would hell change Dean and how's that going to affect the relationship between Sam and Dean? And then there's Sam's powers, which seem to have returned, and Lilith to worry about, and I'm sure all three things are connected in some way.

Setemper 18th could not come any quicker.

We know he gets out or it wouldn't be supernatural:) What I'm looking foward to is the changes it makes in him and his relationship with his brother.. (and how did his brother change while he was in hell, did he start using his "powers" that he promised he wouldn't use)..

One of the big things I'm looking forward to is what happened at the hunters bar with Jo and did any survive.. I love this show and YES I even collect the trading card for it (including have the Jensen and Jared autographs).. It is a great show and one of the best on tv.. from what I hear they will be doing 2 more seasons (this one plus 1 more) then there will be a spin off and a movie(which may turn into a movie franchise)..

Did anyone notice the season 1 episode where Dean accidentaly called Sam by his real name? I caught it right away but don't remember which episode it was:) .. Season 3 kind of ventured away from the formula (scary monsters and good music) but season 4 is supposed to be more like season 1..

I don't think we're ever going to go back to the Roadhouse or meet up with Jo and/or Ellen again on the show. At least not in this season. From what I've heard, Eric (Kripke that is) has said that the role of Jo went in a different direction that what he had intended her role to be, so that's why she really hasn't been seen in the show anymore. As for Ellen, I heard the actress who plays her has had problems with the CW so she can't return. That only leaves Bobby and that new hunter Dean met at the end of season four (can't recall his name). I'd really love it if they could utilize both of them, especially Bobby, who seems to fill in that hole that John left behind. Speaking of John- it'd be GREAT to see him return, especially because the whole mystery around Mary and Azazel never was solved.

I know that Supernatural's pretty much for five seasons, but I haven't heard anything on a movie.

I don't see much need for a spin-off. It would be overkill, and I don't see why they would want to tarnish a near perfect show. Seriously...How often do spin-offs ever work? Rarely ever. This would just give Supernatural a swift kick in the nuts. It would just ruin it. As for a movie though...that intrigues the hell out of me. I hope they could do one, and do it right. It could work, and I hope it does. A movie would be a fantastic way to end this show.

There is an interview with Jensen and Jared in Australia where they talk about the plan for 2 more years then a Movie(which both are in for)..

The spin off wouldn't include any of the current cast from what I heard, one of the ideas is an western type show kind of a back to the beginning of the whole moster myth (the first hunter type of thing).. With Smackdown leaving the CW and Smallville on probably it's last season Supernatural will be one of its highest rated shows and they will need a sci fi/horror show to go with it..

Lazarus Rising
Well there Supernaturalites. We have just witnessed one of the most EPIC episodes of Supernatural EVER. The show starts off as always with a great recap of the road they have traveled already. Seriously, props to the video guys. They do a hell of a job with these. They always send chills down my spine.

Now to the beginning of the show. We start off with snippets of Dean still in hell. Then suddenly that stops. WTF? He is then magically inside of a casket. Which is course the casket he was buried in. He then rises from the grave, which was an immensley cool and epic scene.

*Monkeys Note: How can someone who has just climbed out of hell, still have such great looking hair?*

I digress...

We then see Dean walk around, very scared like. He finds an empty convienence store. Dean goes inside, finds himself some water and snacks. Oh, and in typical Dean style he finds himself a copy of Big Busty Asian. Oh Dean...How I admire you. Dean starts to get ready to leave the store, but all of a sudden something starts going haywire, the T.V. turns on automatically, and you can hear a high pitched noise and rumble. Which in fact breaks the glass windows of the store.

Dean cleans himself up and calls Bobby Singer from a payphone. Bobby doesnt believe who it is and hangs up. Dean calls again, once more Bobby hangs up. This prompts Dean to hotwire a car around him.

*Monkeys Note: I was pretty heartbroken that he didnt get to drive the Impala right off the bat, but understood that he couldnt for obvious reasons.*

Dean drives the car to Bobby's house, Bobby stands there in amazement. Bobby goes after Dean with a silver knife. Dean says that he is not a shapeshifter, and proves this by cutting himself with the silver knife. Dean embraces Bobby in a very emotional moment for us Supernaturalites. Dean calls Bobby a father figure, then Bobby throws holy water onto Dean, "Just to be sure".

Dean and Bobby of course find a way to find out where Sam is staying at. Ironically Sam is staying very close to where Dean was buried. They end up finding the Hotel only to knock on the door to the room and have a girl answer it, and ask why it takes to people to deliver pizza.

Sam then comes around the corner, stops and looks right at Dean.

Monkeys Note: I was pretty emotional at this part, I dont know why. But I choked up a wee bit, and maybe had a couple Dean tears come out of my eyes. (Everyone should know that a Dean tear is a man tear god damnit)

Sam looks very shocked to see his brother standing there. He goes after him with a knife, only to have Bobby break them apart. Saying that he already tried everything and that this Dean is the real Dean. They then go back and forth about how Dean got back to earth, Dean asks Sam if he did anything. Sam says he tried but nothing worked. No demons would make any deals.

After all that Bobby says he knows a psychic who could find out what brought back Dean. They go to her. I must say, this psychic was fucking GORGEOUS! They sit around a table and she starts her chant. She asks the thing to show itself to her. Well...It does, and in what was probably the creepiest moment in Supernatural history. Flames rose from the candles, and all I can say is SHIT WENT DOWN! Her eyes got gouged out in the end as well.

After this the Winchester boys go to a diner to have what they think will be a nice lunch. They were wrong, everyone in the place is a demon. The waitress sits down and has a talk with Dean, Dean slaps her a couple times asking if she is going to do anything. Surprisingly she doesnt. They get up and go on their separate ways.

*Funny line of the night*

Demon Waitress: So you get to just strolled out of the Pit, huh? Tell me, what makes you so special?
Dean: I'd like to think it's because of my perky nipples.

Dean goes with Bobby to someplace and start to plan out a way to trap what has been following Dean this whole time. Sam goes back to the diner, where he meets up with the girl from his room. Who turns out to be none other than RUBY! But its not the hot Ruby, its a different one. This one can die for all I care. Sam starts to learn some of the abilities that he has.

Dean and Bobby are still setting up for whats been following Dean. Then all of a sudden the high pitched noise comes along along with the rumbling. It leads to glass breaking all around. Then you see a figure coming through the doors. In comes a very decent looking guy. He starts talking to Dean. Dean wants to know who he is. As does Bobby, the man puts Bobby down, but does not kill him. The man finally reveals himself to be Castiel, he then says that he is an Angel of God. Thats right, with all the bad things that happen, all the monsters, and all the demons. AN ANGEL has finally come through. He says he brought Dean back from Hell. Dean asks why, Castiel says its because they have something big planned for him.

Ending Thoughts:

A hell of a season premiere from the cast and crew. Whoever cast Castiel needs to get a fucking raise, he is PERFECT in his role. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. Whats in store for us? Will we see Sam finally go darkside and have Brother vs Brother. Is that what Castiel was talking about? Something that me and Dragon realized. Remember back in the first season, when Deans mother says that Angels are watching over him? Well I guess that actually proved true. I'm really excited for all the possibilites and options that are available after this episode. I also apoligize if I left some things out, my mind is stll trying to process everything. Very excited...

Until next week Supernaturalites. Looking forward to another fun live discussion in the bar room.

So it's been over 3 months of waiting, and FINALLY the show returns with the season four premier "Lazarus Rising." I think Monkey Man (:p) took care of the recapping just fine, so no need to go into that.

As far as season premiers go, this is definitely one packed with a lot of punches, more so than the other season premiers. Dean's brought back from hell, there's a mysterious force that literally drug him out of hell, Sam has tapped into his powers, Ruby is back, and that mysterious power is an angel from God who tells Dean he has work to do. That's a lot of stuff to put in one episode, not that I'm complaining, but it took a while to process it all. There's so much that's happened and so much that's left unanswered, and in all this jumble I think it's easy to forget the core of this show. Sam and Dean.

So while all of these thing were revealed in LR, the most important scene, the most important moment, the whole purpose of this episode, was Sam and Dean's reunion and it's aftermath. Let us not forget that while Dean may not remember spending four months in hell (or does he?), that's exactly where he's been for four months to Sam. He's been dead, buried, and burning in hell. Let me tell you, the affects of those four months on Sam are not going to be resolved with a hug, no matter how touching that scene was. Those four months changed Sam in ways we can't even fathom. Desperation, revenge, they can twist even the best of us, and unlike John Winchetser, Sam lived in a world where he was alone, the only person he was REALLY attached to (besides Bobby of course) gone. I'm not trying to say Sam is evil, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been doing the wrong thing the past few months for the right reasons.

Then there's Dean. I very much doubt that Dean will forget his memories of hell forever, and when he does remember them all, it'll be interesting to see how they've changed him. Even without those memories, Dean is different, just like Sam is. It's not as obvious as the changes in Sam, but I think the inclusion of Castiel, the angel, will definitely show us what hell has done to Dean.

Together, there seems to be a lot of tension between these two in the episode. Of course they're BEYOND happy to see each other, happy that Dean is alive and well, but it isn't long before Sam is keeping secrets from Dean and Dean is keeping secrets from Sam.

I think I want to end this by saying that despite everything, despite the lies, despite the tension, despite the fact that Dean went to hell and Sam couldn't save him, despite everything, in the end they're still brothers, and that's the whole point. Supernatural-stripped of all its demons, angels, hell, heaven- take that all off and you're left with Sam and Dean.

fx6zo3.jpg

And I wouldn't want it any other way. Good to have this show back.

Thank god the matriarch of this thread has come back. Lol.

Yes I agree with everything you have said. It wont be too long before the brothers find out what each other are hiding from one another. That is exactly where I see this season heading. When Castiel said "We have bigger plans for you." I immediately thought..."Shit, they're going to have Sam and Dean go after each other" :(. Action packed is not the phrase to use on this show. Emotional investment would be a better one. I for one never thought I could get so emotionally into a show as to where I want to see the brothers together.

Like I said before, this is shaping up to be a great season. Possibly even the BEST season to date. With everything that has been opened up by the premiere, EPIC doesnt even seem to fit. I'll be watching, with my eyes GLUED.

Matriarch? LOL I feel like I'm 50 now or something.

I don't think the Sam vs Dean is going to be intentional, it seems more like something that will just fall into place without Sam and Dean realizing that they'll end up on opposite sides of the battle field. I really hope they don't take it too far with that, none of the fans could bear to see the boys be split apart for a substantial amount of time.

Amen. And HOPEFULLY the strong rating we got this week will continue to stay the same and consistently rise along with the season. :)
