The Sports Bar

I'm not a fan of Kaepernick but I don't want him to suffer from prostate cancer or even worse having to be a Jet.

In some ways his addition to the team would be scary good for the Jets offense and it's hard to blame him for the fall of 2015 49ers. But Ty makes some really good points as to what is standing in the way from it happening and I would add that Brandon Marshall and Kaepernick might make for a difficult pair to team up.

Kaepernick should retire and the Jets should disband. Its the only reasonable solution here.

Conditional 4th is what I said (IE starts as a 6, if he starts 8 games its a 5, starts 12 games its a 4)

If Kap can be 80% of his best self, and the Jets score on a couple draft picks they can be a legit contender.

I love the idea of improving any position but as Ty said there are a few hurdles. The only way I'd want him is if he got cut or we gave up a VERY small amount. I like him but I'm not sacrificing the future for a guy who was so bad last year that Blaine fucking Gabbert was chosen over him. He has been flawed as of late and it's for a reason.

I'd also be careful since Brandon Marshall said he wants Fitz back. He could leave without Fitz there.

The most important aspect of all of this? The Jets are becoming a team that players WANT to come to. Not surprising, being a 10 win team with a strong coaching staff. Now they just need to get some help on the o line and find a way to either keep Ivory or sign someone (maybe draft Ezekiel Elliot?)

So FIFA elected a new president. Gianni Infantino won after receiving a majority on the second ballot.

Too bad, I was rooting for Prine Ali.... Only because anytime he enters a room he would need to play this:

NFL free agency is already looking pretty crazy, and players still can't actually sign yet. What moves have caught your eye so far, whether good or bad?

Well its cleat the Jaguars aren't fucking around. Duuuuvaaalll

What the fuck is the deal with their level of non support? I find that shit fascinating. Its a top ten market population-wise, with no other major teams in it. Yet no one gives a shit.

How the fuck is that possible? It should be the ultimate combo of small market passion but with big market population....Like, it should be the OPPOSITE of what it is...

What is the deal with that Bearded?

Good:
-Forte. An RB1, and arguably the best one available. a versatile back who still has a year or 2 left. Big upgrade over Chris Ivory, and when paired with either a lower-level FA or a draft pick will form a formidable duo.
-DeMarco Murray to the Titans: They gave up next to nothing for him supposedly (rumors were they swapped 4's). He will be not be pigeonholed into a shotgun-exclusive running game, which is unsuitable for him.

Bad:
-Osweiler. 4 years/$72M to Houston. He sat on the bench for 4 years, was OK when he played in 7 games this year until he had to get benched, and the Broncos didn't try too hard to keep him. If they really had faith in Osweiler they would have gotten him.
-Damon Harrison. 5 years/$46M. He is an excellent run stuffing interior lineman. One of my favorite Jets the past couple years. But he's a 2 down player and a Nose Tackle who leaves a 3-4 to play the 4-3. Too much money for a 2 down player.

What did you guys end up paying Forte?

2 years ago a line with Mario Williams and Suh would've been feared by everyone. Now, not so sure. Their line was supposed to be amazing last year. How'd that work out for them? But they didn't pay too much for Williams, so I guess that's good.

I think it's a Florida thing in general. Even the Heat didn't sell out a lot of nights when they had their big 3.

It also doesn't help that they often times get some pretty decent names going there (like this year) and still churn out losing season after losing season.

The Jags had a ton of cap space and they're making sure they use it. It makes me a bit nervous, I have to admit, since the teams that win the off-season don't usually win in the regular season.

But Jacksonville is one of the smallest markets in the NFL, though. It's near the bottom of the list with Buffalo and Green Bay. The link below is a couple years old by now, but I don't think there has been a drastic change since then. It shows how all the NFL markets compare. The Jags' number inside the parenthesis is the Jacksonville market by itself.

To answer your question, support has gotten SO much better in recent years, but it still truthfully isn't where it should be. I was going through some of my old posts on here the other day and found posts that said I'm struggling to give tickets away. I don't have that problem anymore. A lot of the lack of support came from a staleness from the old ownership. Ever since Shad Khan bought the Jaguars it's been a night and day difference.

Another aspect is fans who grew up with the team, which are known as "Generation Jaguar," are now old enough to be able to buy tickets. We are the die-hards, and it's going to keep growing from us. The Jags have come outright and said the fans have to support the team better, and that's what the younger generation of fans is trying to do.

There's still a ways to go, and I doubt we'll ever be like the Packers or Bears, but at least we haven't had a blackout in six years and aren't in any danger of relocating.

My man......

Its a small MEDIA market, but population-wise, Jax is the number 12 market in the US, and top 25 in North America.

So again I ask,

What the fuck?

Man I hate that the Eagles got rid of Murray. I know he had a shocking season but really not many people had good seasons for us. There was an obvious rift between him and chip as well so maybe this year could of been (will be) different. Sure there is better guys out there but I personally like the dude and if Eagles are willing to re sign Bradford for that type of money then surely keeping Murray isn't a concern.

I do see why they did but I would've given him another chance.

Has anyone else seen the tail spin of the OKC Thunder? It just goes to show that a team without defined roles will never be able to win a championship. First off, they hardly play defense. That by itself is going to stop them from winning. What's worse, though, is that they don't know if its Durant's team or Westbrook's. Neither one of them will take charge when it matters. Instead they play the your turn my turn game. Any team that's ever had more than one great player has always had a pecking order. Jordan and Pippen, Shaq and Kobe, Magic and Kareem, Bird and Mchale, and so on. Until they figure out who's THE GUY, they're never going to win. They'll be a great regular season team, might even go deep in the playoffs. Against a truly great team, though, they have no chance.

They made it to the finals in 2012 only because Westbrook wasn't really established yet and he deferred to Durant. Also, they still had Harden. Now, they'll never make it that far.

They will be a force come playoffs. I remember Spurs not caring about the regular season as well for years. I think this is kind of the same thing, add in the fact that they have a new coach as well. It'll all work itself out by playoffs. Westbrook is averaging 24, 7 boards, 10 dimes and leads the league in steals and triple doubles yet is getting walked on by everyone for some reason. That's better numbers than currys last year who was the MVP over Harden. Durant is still the best scorer in the league (not curry), so it's going to be hard to stop both off them when the game has slowed down and there is a lot more iso sets and defensive pressure in the playoffs. No team matches up well with them at all, not even warriors as Curry can't check Westbrook as effective as the other way around and Durant only has to worry about help defense when he is guarding Iggy and then score.

Thunder, like the clippers, are in a unique position were they have top player in the most important spot (point guard) and then have a star that is hard to match up on in a not so demanding spot, the small forward and the power forward. I really like it in terms of matchup with the warriors.

I know what you are saying though, thunder aren't what they should be right now. However i think it's more everyone else than KD and Russ not being able to work together. They are fine. It's guys like Kanter who take continuous plays off defense, Roberson who can't hit shots, waiters who is a tough player but holds the ball more than he should (although has improved greatly recently), A rookie back up guard, Kyle singler who should be sitting more often than not.

I promise you Phenom they will be monsters in the playoffs. With more 1 on 1s,
nobody will be stopping the best duo in the NBA effectively.

Titans made one good move today.

Texans and Jags have been busy in free agency already so I'm hoping the Titans make a couple more moves and get at least a somewhat decent team. I'm not looking for a miracle.

Though I wish they had kept Zach Brown.

Jacksonville might be one of the largest cities population-wise in the NFL, but it's one of the smallest metropolitan areas in the league. In fact, it's the fourth-smallest in the NFL, according to the website linked below. It used the numbers from the 2010 census, but I can't see the numbers shifting that dramatically.

http://www.125downtowns.info/front-page/home/sports/smallest-cities-with-major-sports

So Jacksonville is still one of the smallest markets in the league. While the fanbase does need to improve, I'm honestly surprised its been as supportive as it has since the Jags haven't had a winning season since since 2007, or really been competitive since 2010. But the fans are quickly starting to lose patience with coach Gus Bradley's constant losing.

Titans getting Ben Jones was a great move, as was the Texans signing Lamar Miller.

After all the hype of the Jags' targets, I was honestly feeling just a bit disappointed by just signing Malik Jackson and Chris Ivory (even though I love both signings), but the acquisition of Tashaun Gibson makes me feel better.

What did you guys end up paying Forte?
It hasn't been reported yet. Hell they haven't announced how long the deal was yet either (not that that matters since players seldom play out their contracts it seems). However long it is there is probably an out after 2 years.

By the way am I the only one who doesn't understand what the Dolphins did? They let Vernon go, they replaced Cam Wake with Mario Williams, and they traded down to get Kiko Alonso and replace Brent Grimes with Byron Maxwell?

They replaced better players with worse players and moved down in the draft and are giving them more money (aside from Vernon w ho is getting a kings ransom).

I'm kinda surprised the Jets and Fitzpatrick haven't gotten closer to an agreement yet. He is better off with the Jets than with any other team and the Jets need a starter. RGIII is the 2nd best QB available and I don't know how I feel about giving him the #1QB job right away.

I think Houston can be a contender with Osweiller, I really do. They'd have been better off if they didn't bring in Lamar Miller, and drafted E. Elliot out of Ohio State instead. But Miller is a solid piece, and now they can focus somewhere else in the first round. However, their defense is already pretty solid, and now they have a QB.

I like Brock Osweiller a ton. He's huge with a great arm, and I think Denver is stupid for not trying to lock him up before he hit the free agency. Only thing is, Houston paid him a ton. A ton for someone who hasn't proven anything yet, I mean no wonder why Brock walked. If Osweiller ends up not living up to that potential, then Houston is going to be paying for it for a long time.

The Texans have to be heavy in Free Agency this year. By making the playoffs they are drafting 22nd, which is generally too late to get a QB (which they desperately need). It also will seemingly be too late for a runner, which is why they got Lamar Miller.

Ezekiel Elliot wouldn't be there when the Texans drafted at 22. a lot of Mocks have him going to the Jets at 20, with others way sooner then that. Besides they would rather take Lamar Miller who is a proven commodity over gambling on a rookie.
