The fact that people think Mayweather had no choice but to fight Pacquiao was ignorant. People act like Mayweather needed to prove something, as if he wasn't the best boxer of the last 10-15 years. You mean to tell me because Mayweather didn't knock everyone out in 10 seconds, he's a boring fighter? Maybe I'm the minority, but watching a boxer like Mayweather pick apart his opponent was far more entertaining to watch than a Pac-Man wild swingfest and hope he hits something. In my opinion, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao never was going to happen, because it didn't need to happen.

Clearly not, since it didn't hurt Manziel AT ALL. And Kleins bad game was better then Manziels.

And Megatron, just because he finished second doesn't mean he would be the winner. The majority of those voters would have flip flopped Klein and Manziel because they don't want a defender to win the award.

I don't think that the voters are actually biased against defensive players. I bet if a defensive player had mind-blowing numbers on a relatively down year for offensive players, the defensive player would win.

I'm with you for the most part though, I think Teo should have won. I hate it when the emphasis is on stats rather than championship aspirations.

Maywether had planned to make the Pacquaio fight all along, he was just trying to drive up the interest so both he and Pac made the max amount of money for doing it. I don't think people really ever got that. They would fatten it up by feasting on everybody else and when there was literally nobody else for either to fight that would make money, then it would happen.

Another thing that folks don't really understand... Floyd would have beaten Pacman with ease. It's a plum matchup for him. Pacquiao is overly aggressive offensively and sloppy defensively. A speedy counterpuncher like Floyd eats dudes like that for lunch.

I say would have at this point because now the fight is never going to happen now, nor should it. There is no money in it at all now.

So Paul Tagliabue pretty much told Roger Goodell to suck it.

He agreed there was a bounty system (which was pretty much undisputable), but wiped out all the player suspensions, basically saying there wasn't enough evidence to suspend the players.

Unrelated, the Jets just picked up Mark Sanchez's favorite security blanket, Braylon Edwards. They never should have let him go. He is going to be big for them in their playoff push (they're one game back of the last wildcard spot and the 2 teams ahead of them play each other and have a much more difficult schedule).

No, he didn't. He said there was a performance pool system for big plays which also included big hits, which was never denied by the players and does deserve some sort of punishment. However, while he "thinks" there was a bounty on Favre, there's still no proof that says there was besides a disgruntled ex-employee saying there was.

I'm still not happy about it. The guy worded it all in a way where the coaches suspensions were justified. And the fact is, Sean Payton's suspension is anything but justified, and it's because of that injustice that the Saints entire season got flushed down the fucking toilet and we might end up losing our coach this offseason.

I'd be nervous if I was a Saints fan. I wouldn't want to compete for Sean Payton's services with Jerry Jones and that loaded checkbook.

Bill Simmons makes a great point about how Payton's value just keeps rising with every game that the Saints struggle. I can't think of any coach who's value raised so much without actually coaching.

He's got a point. Early on in the season, the Saints looked completely fucking lost (still do, most of the time) and that could directly be attributed to the lack of Payton. Once they got more comfortable and got some other coaches back, they began to get some momentum, but they're still not the same team that won the Super Bowl three years ago.

Kevin Youkilis to the Yankees?!? You've got to be kidding me.
I know, it's fucking awesome. And you can't blame him or anything. Red Sox treated him like crap on the way out the door then traded him, and the Yankees were the only ones with an offer on the table.

I loved the guys style of play for year, but I could never root for the guy due to his sock color. Then he changes sock color to white and I rooted for him, and now I'm in full on YOOOOOOOOOOOUK! mode.

Playoff push? The New York Jets? This season?!?

Personally, I think you'd be better off pinning your hopes on the Giants this season, and hope the Jets can get a better draft selection or make some noise in the free agent market. I think they could benefit from a new quarterback. Don't you think this would serve them better in the long run, rather than limping into the sixth seed this year, only to be a sitting duck once they get there?

1. They are one game out of the playoffs. Hence, there is a push. Until you are eliminated from Playoff Contention, you push for the playoffs. And once you're done, you play your best to prove that you belong on the roster the next year. Not to mention it's plausible the Jets can end up tied for the Wild Card.

Jets remaining Schedule: @ Tennessee Monday Night, vs. San Diego, @ Buffalo.
Steelers Schedule: @ Dallas, vs. Cincinnati, vs. Cleveland
Bengals Schedule: @ Philly Thursday, @ Pittsburgh, vs. Baltimore
Colts Schedule: @ Houston, @ KC, vs. Houston.

If the winner of the Pittsburgh/Cincy game can lose one, the Jets could tie by winning out (VERY plausible since they are better then all 3 of the remaining opponents). If Pittsburgh loses 2 (Cincy and Dallas), The Jets hold a Tiebreaker over Cincy. If by a miracle Indy/Pitt/Cincy/Jets all finish 9-7 (and by Miracle I mean Indy loses to the Chiefs which would be a miracle), Jets and Indy make the playoffs (and Jets would be a 5 seed).

I'm not saying they WILL make the playoffs, I'm just saying there are very plausible scenarios that have the Jets in the playoffs, and once you're in the playoffs anything can happen. Giving up while you're still alive is pathetic. Hence, the Jets shouldn't give up.

2. Show me a fan that says they would rather not make the playoffs then make the playoffs, and I will show you someone who is not a fan. You cannot win a championship by not making the playoffs. And 6 seeds have won the Super Bowl.

3. Why the fuck would I root for the Giants? What the hell type of fan roots for the cross-town arch nemesis? Giant fans treat me like shit just because I wear green, I'd sooner root for the Patriots (which I did in both Super Bowls). At least if the Pats win I don't have to have them rub it in my face and verbally assault me every day/week.

You forgot the Browns. While a small chance, they can still get in if they win out and get some help.

The help they need is astronomical and unreasonable which is why I didn't include them.

The Jets and Cincy finishing 9-7 with Pittsburgh finishing 8-8 is very plausible (and to be honest wouldn't be all that surprising). Cincy beats Pittsburgh and Philly while losing to Baltimore, Jets winning out, and Pittsburgh losing to Cincy and Dallas while beating Cleveland means the Jets make the playoffs. The Browns finishing 8-8, along with the Jets, Cincy, and Pittsburgh both finishing 8-8 or worse is beyond reasonable thought.

Hell, Indy finishing 9-7 is more reasonable, since only one game would truly be a shocking loss for them (@KC), and I considered that miraculous.

I'd like to hear Harthan's reaction to the two Ohio teams' trade.

Speaking of it, I don't like Arizona's return on the deal. Bauer was far too much to give up in this deal; could have done better elsewhere if they were interested in trading him.
