Wow... CRAZY finish to the Dallas/OKC game just now.
Dallas was down by 2, and Vince Carter hit a 3 with 1.8 seconds left to put the Mavs up by 1. I was so happy for him. That dude was such a great player whose career got ruined by injuries. But, the joyness wouldn't last as Kevin Durant nailed a DEEP 3 at the buzzer to give OKC the win.

Kevin Durant is off to a great start and may very well end up with the MVP award when the season is all said and done. With Kobe aging Durant has moved into that top 2 with LeBron as the best players in the league. LeBron, Durant, CP3, Dwight Howard, and Kobe are my top 5.
I love Dirk and have him at number 6 but if I were putting together a team for this one season and could take any player in the NBA, I'd take the 5 I listed over Dirk.
Dirk almost always puts up big numbers in the playoffs. Last years run was remarkable but Dallas won the title because they had the most complete team they had ever had.

I have to keep Dirk so high because he's someone you cannot contain. You can limit Chris Paul and even Dwight Howard... but it's literally impossible to stop Dirk Nowitzki. Since this guy finally grew some balls and started attacking the basket... he's simply been unstoppable. He's off to a slow start this year, but that's to be expected. He'll get back to last year's form very soon.

That's funny. They look like the best to me. The whole being in the playoffs thing kinda confirms my argument here.
They have hit a snag. And Oakland looked like total shit. And San Diego, like always, looked like shit for the majority of the year before having a decent last few weeks. The season does not start in late December, and as such the Broncos look like the best 8-8 AFC West team.
Do you perhaps mean the AFC South?

Oakland hasn't looked great the last couple weeks, but they've looked a lot better than the Broncos, who can't score and have been turning the ball over. Let's not forget about the multiple fluke victory's, like Chicago for example.
San Diego looked decent in the beginning of the season, the had to fight through tons of o-line and defensive injuries and played much better as the team got healthy towards the end of the season.
Bronco's where terrible all season long, they had a miraculous run in the middle of the season and have been spiraling out the last few weeks. They also lost to KC 7-3 in what was a must win game for them at the time, and the couldn't even muster a TD against the "worst" team in the division.

The Broncos did get into the playoffs but it was on the third tie breaker. All three teams at the top went 8-8 overall, 3-3 in the division, and split all of the games they had with each other. Denver was the luckiest of the three because they were the only team to not really suffer any major injuries.
I count 6 opening day starters on injured reserve for the Chargers including their starting left tackle and left guard. The Raiders started 4-2 and then lost their starting qb in Jason Campbell. They also lost Darren McFadden for the last 9 games of the season. He was leading the NFL in rushing at the time of his injury. The biggest losses for the Broncos were backup running back Knowshon Moreno and nickel corner Cassius Vaughn.

Nice to see coach D finally get the monkey off his back and get that elusive bowl win. I know it might not seem like a lot since they were the #2 Big 10 team facing anywhere from the 3rd to 5th best SEC team, but dammit a win over a 10 win (and divisional champ) SEC team is a hell of a way to go out the year, especially after last years debacle. Thank you seniors - Cousins, Cunningham, Martin, Foreman, Robinson, etc. - for making these last 2 years the most exciting and happy I've been since I've regularly followed MSU. I wouldn't be shocked with another top 15 ranking to begin the year, due to us returning possibly 10 of our defensive starters (should Worthy and Adams stay their senior year) even with a new QB and receivers (Maxwell is a junior though and it should be a smooth transition). This is a huge step with this bowl win, and hopefully these guys can make it back to back in the Legends and finally get into the Rose Bowl (or possibly more, I don't wanna overestimate my hopes though).

Go Blue! Thank god Frank Beamer is an idiot. The Wolverines certainly didn't play their best game tonight, in fact offensively it may have been their worst of the season, but they still played their asses off. These are the kind of games last year where Michigan would have been blown out but with Brady Hoke and this improved defense they were able to pull out a hard fought victory. 11-2 and a BCS Bowl win is pretty damn good for any first year head coach but even more remarkable considering the drastic changes Michigan made in philosophy on both sides of the ball. 21 seniors are now gone including a few guys in Mike Martin, Junior Hemingway, David Molk, Ryan Van Bergen, and Kevin Koger who have a chance to play on Sundays. Next year the team will be better overall but the schedule is tougher as they have to play Alabama. The goal for next year is a Big Ten Championship.
Has anyone else had their estimation of the Marlins really drop over the last few weeks? I feel like they're not going to be nearly as good as I thought they were immediately following the Reyes signing. I feel like 85 wins, maybe less if the Nationals sign Fielder.
Yeah, good all around. A decent starter for the Marlins, and Ozzie's presence can hopefully keep him in check a bit. Meanwhile the Cubs shed even more weight as they prepare to rebuild. Good stuff, good stuff.
