The Sports Bar

At least the Wings won, even if it got a little bit closer then I anticipated after they were up 3 in the 3rd.

Thank god for that, now the next 2 games (& hopefully last 2 of this series) are in Phoenix which means I'll get to see them when I get home from work next week

Also Franzen is fucking awesome, holy shit for a guy to take that much punishment (23 fucking stitches to the fucking face) and come back, then refuse to wear a face shield and keep playing is insane, I fucking love playoff hockey!

The Pavel Datsyuk between the legs shot was sick. Just think how much better the team will be once Zetterberg comes back.

Only Thomas and Bogans have ever been to the finals and some of the other guys have never even been out of the first round. They have some experience but very little compared to the other elite East teams.

I've considered experience to be overrated. You already have a general idea of how teams play during the regular season, and it gets more physical in the playoffs. Some teams switch up their gameplans a little bit. It's all about making adjustments in each series, adapting, and performing. You could say pressure, but if they are worried about having the ball in the closing seconds then they shouldn't have it in their hands.

Experience is a bigger factor then you think. In 2003 the Pistons had the best record in the East but fell to the defending East champion Nets in the East Finals. In 2004 the Pacers had the best record in the east but fell to the more experienced Pistons in the east Finals. In 2005 the Heat had the best record in the East but fell to the more experience Detorit Pistons. More often then not the more experienced you are the better. It isn't always like that but it's definitely a fairly big factor.

Pau Gasol needs to step up and the Lakers D needs to be a lot better or they won't make it too far in the playoffs. Chris Paul when healthy is right up there with Derrick Rose as the best point guard in the league. Definitely the best pure point guard as Rose is more of a scorer.

Just watched another great NHL playoff game, Ranger managed to put themselves back in the series with a 3-2 win over the Caps

I've completely lost touch with sports since the Super Bowl. I can't watch Baseball or Hockey, but I usually follow the NBA. This year though, I've been distracted by a lot of other things. I had no idea the playoffs started. I don't know who's playing who, but I discovered that Indiana made the playoffs. The fuck happened? I gots to get caught up.

They only had 37 wins. The Eastern Conference just has no depth. 3-4 great teams at the top and jack shit after that. The 5-8 seeds in the East wouldn't have made the playoffs in the West and there are 3 teams in the West who didn't make it that would have made it over the Pacers in the East.

Looks like the Wings will be gong for the sweep tomorrow (I think it's tomorrow) which is good, they need to rest up some players and give them time to heal up some of those injuries

The Wings needed a dominant series like this. With Zetterberg not playing one game yet it's just that much more impressive.

Is there any announcer more awesome than Vin Scully? Watching the Dodgers game now and he's so great to listen to. It's amazing that he always calls the game by himself and there is never a dull moment or any silence. It's almost soothing listening to him. Calling games since 1950 and still going strong. Vin Scully is baseball.

What a freakin' game! Unbelievable. Playoff hockey is the best. Sharks come back from 4-0 deficit and win in OT 6-5 for the 2nd biggest comeback in NHL playoff history. The 2nd period was one of the best period I've ever seen. Momentum is fully on the Sharks side. Just a great game. I'm so drained.

Fuck the NCAA. Motherfuckers think their word is better than my state's government

Issue is University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux nickname. The NCAA deemed it a hostile nickname and are basically forcing UND to change the name or never host a playoff game at home if they keep the name. My state legislature passed a bill saying the Fighting Sioux nickname must stay for the University. They also wanted to contact the NCAA and discuss the issue alongside the Sioux Indian Tribes as well. A meeting was setup for the near future. This is what the NCAA does:

Sends a letter saying basically the law means jack shit to them.
Cancel the meeting by simply saying they're not coming.

They don't even want to have a productive meeting to settle the dispute. The University has used the name for damn near a century, and also provide the most scholarships to Native Americans in the country. The name is highly respected and a lot of people care about it. Even people that haven't gone to school there wear Sioux jerseys. Just because we're not a "big" name school who can pay off the NCAA to allow them to keep the name like some other schools (Florida State Seminoles), they won't even reconsider or listen to the people at the college and around the state.

The Red Wings are the first team to advance into the next round after sweeping the Coyotes. They played all 4 games without probably their second best offensive player in Henrick Zetterberg.

Those last 7 seconds to the Spurs/Grizzlies game were facepalm worthy. How do you not get a shot up?

Oh, and a new thread up on the NFL schedule.
