The Sports Bar

The undisclosed are two 2nd round picks, one being from Golden State for the David Lee deal, So I'd imagine they're 2011 picks. 3 million in cash as well.

I realized I messed this up, it's the 2nd round draft picks from GS to Denver, the 3 million in cash goes to the Wolves as part of the Curry Randolph/Brewer trade.

wow. Just. WOW.

The New Jersey Nets just traded Devin Harris and Derrick Favors (and supposedly 2 1sts not in the article) to Utah for Deron Williams.

So much for any thought that Mikhail Prokhorov not being able to get stars...

I'm not a big NBA fan at all, but I just might check out the Knicks game tonight.

Also, it looks like Wainwright is going to need Tommy John surgery. Tough blow to the Cards as Wainwright, in my opinion, is the most underrated pitcher in the league.

I know no one here watches Nascar, but just making a note it's been 10 years to the day that the greatest driver ever Dale Earnhardt passed away in that fateful crash on the final lap of the Daytona 500. Most of my family were big Earnhardt fans, so it's kind of eerie thinking that it's been 10 years since that happened. Sad thing is it was probably the only Daytona 500 my dad missed.

I was a college freshman when this happened, and quite a few of the guys in my dorm loved Nascar. I was bored one afternoon after a workout and was watching with them and actually witnessed the crash live. It was the most horrifying thing Ive witnessed on live TV and I havent been able to bring myself to watch Nascar since, honestly. Im not a fan, but was a casual viewer with friends, but it shook me up to the point that I always passed on watching after that. Just a horrifying experience that shook me to the core.

The Sports Stadium was going well, then Blue left and the Sports Debate League started (which seemingly hogged all the sports posting to people involved with said league).

Plus it's February, the 1 month where both football and baseball are dormant. Now with Spring Training starting, baseball talk will begin. The NFL offseason stuff too just started with the combine, which starts the draft talk and Free Agency talk.

I'll prob get some posting in there tomorrow if I can, since I'll be going out for the rest of the night.

All I'll say right now is I like where the Yankees are right now. A-Rod is the healthiest he's been in years, CC's down 25 pounds, and last I checked they still have the best closer in the game.

They might be in a good position but I don't see them beating the Phillies in the World Series if it comes to that. The Phillies have the best starting pitchers in the league with the likes of Roy Halladay,Cliff Lee and Cole Hammels and as the Giants proved last year starting pitchers win championships. I just don't see anyone beating them come playoff time including the Yankees or the defending World Series champion Giants.

Yeah, I'll be getting a few posts in the Stadium tonight. Sports debaters league, along with a lack of working computer, have taken my time on these forums for the past few weeks.

Heat would've won that game if Bosh's shitty ass could've done better than going for 1-18. I would've benched him in favor of Big Z or Howard's old ass.

I know this was a while ago, but looking back, the Pistons trading away Chauncey was the beginning of the falling apart of this franchise. One of the worst trades a team could make.

Also, thread up about their current saga regarding the skipped shootaround yesterday.

I love Chauncey Billups. Excellent player, leader, and he'll be perfect for the Knickerbockers (for this year and next until Chris Paul signs with them). So I'm really glad y'all traded him, cause it allowed the Nuggets to trade him.

Yes, I liked him too. Then he was traded him for AI, which was a disaster. And the Pistons haven't been relevant since.

Ill post plenty when the SDL winds down. I have alot to say about the draft, both trade deadline deals(NBA and NHL) and then beginning of spring training. Just as an aside, the Penguins got Alexei Kovalev from Ottawa for a conditional 7th round draft ick. What a steal. Kovy isn't the same player he used to be, but his shot is still the same, and he's only lost a little speed. He was playing on a garbage team in Ottawa that hurt his numbers, but they were still decent at 14(now 150 goals) and 17 assists. He won the game in the shootout for the Penguins with an absolute rocket, proof that the shot hasn't disapeared in the slightest. The conditonal pick becomes a sixth rounder if the Pens get out of the first round, which they'll do if healthy, minus Malkin of course. Without Crosby they're screwed, but I have a feel he'll return with 5-10 games left in the regular season to get back into game form for the playoffs. With the additions of Kovy, James Neal, and Matt Nisakenen, plius the healthy returns of Chris Kunitz, Paul Martin and Brooks Orpik, this will be a dangerous team come playoff time. All of this depends on Crosby's return, but all signs here in Pittsburgh point to him returning before the end of the season.

And for the love, go check out the SDL finals. Its a fantastic read, as Big Sexy and I have both pointed out. We've all busted our rears here, and hopefully this isn't a one time thing, and some of you will enter it next year. The more competition, the better. Theres a ton of you passionate about sports that contribute every day, so theres no reason why this thing shouldnt be back and we shouldn't have more participants.

The Pistons core had proven that they couldn't get the job done anymore in terms of winning NBA titles. It also would have cost them to resign Chauncey and keep that aging core together especially when the chances of them winning another title seemed like it wasn't there. Joe D has always said it's about winning championships and anything less wouldn't cut it. He needed to take a risk and obviously the risk didn't pan out for a number of reasons but it was one that had to be made. The reason it was Chauncey that got traded instead of Rip or Tayshaun was because: 1. He was the most attractive trade option and the guy we could get the most out of. 2. Rodney Stuckey had looked very promising as a rookie so the replacement point guard seemed to be in place. Hindsight is 20/20 but at the time it seemed like a good deal.

Joe Dumars was part of the Bad Boys team that went to 3 straight finals and won 2 straight NBA titles. He was also part of the post Bad Boy era where the Pistons fluctuated from mediocrity to shit throughout the course of 9 seasons (only two seasons in that time period did they have more then 42 wins). Joe D didn't want that period between great eras that happened from the Bad Boys to the "Going to Work" era. He tried to avoid it and so far has failed but you can't blame him for trying.

I still don't like Jake Locker as an NFL quarterback. If you can't complete close to 60% of your passes in college then chances are you won't be very accurate in the pros. He has all the physical tools which makes him an attractive prospect but I don't see those tools leading to impressive production. He reminds me of a running version of Kyle Boller and trust me, the ability to run still wouldn't make Boller very good.

the only 40 time that really matters is Rich Eisens.

Oh, and Cam Newton had a 10'6" Broad Jump.

Of course they don't play football in Under Armor T-Shits and shorts.

I love Jake Locker and the prospect of him in the pros, but that's no secret. I think with his performance today plus everyone has said he has been the most impressive in interviews out of QB I can't see him falling past the Dolphins pick. Likely options for Locker seem to be Washington at 10, Minnesota at 12, and Miami at 14 (I think).

KNICKS 91
HEAT 86

Back to the topic of Chauncey Billups. I fucking LOVE Chauncey Billups. Mr. Big Shot drilled a 3 to take the lead (they never relenquished), then stole a pass and set up another score. The guy wins basketball games. I love how people kept saying how the Knicks don't have the 3rd star. I'd like to think they have an old star, but a star nevertheless.

Bron had a chance late to take the lead and got rejected by Amar'e, then was short on a 3 to tie the game with a second left. Bron failed. Knicks didn't tonite.

Heat scored a total of 52 points in the final 3 quarters.

Stormtrooper, just wanted to let you know that if Mark Sanchez looks better than ever next season, you will have one person to thank for that... Drew Brees. Brees has been working with Sanchez this off-season apparently.

He did the same for Josh Freeman last year.

It actually kind of bothers me he does this. I mean, I respect and appreciate how classy the guy is, but damn it... these guys could end up killing us in the future, especially Freeman.
