The Sports Bar

I'll respond in a bit. You pretty much set up my rebuttal to your rebuttal. Haha.

Yeah it was a pretty simple rebuttal just to get it going, same with my response. Didn't want to go too crazy on the opener, or I wouldn't have anything for later on when everybody else chimes in.

No. Just because, for example, I don't post sports doesn't mean I can't win, keep in mind.
crock hit it on the head. You don't need to be a regular sports poster to be able to debate. Isn't the judging based on debate, not opinion? Group 2 may be the better debaters, with group 1 being the better sports posters.

Sports knowledge still plays a huge part in it though. You can do all the research you want on your own choice but you're going to need a lot of sports knowledge to be able to refute the opinions of everyone else. Being able to debate is only half the battle. I'd say the combination of debating skills and sports knowledge in group 1 is greater then that of group 2.

but knowledge isn't the only thing needed. You can have all the knowledge int he world, but be unable to debate, and not win.

Also, just because they don't post in the SS doesn't mean they don't know sports. It just means they don't post int he SS.

That's why I said it's a combination of both. Not just one or the other.

Yes, but until I see that knowledge on display I can't make an opinion on how good it is.

especially when the questions are going to be very very generic. you aren't gonna get 'who's the best quarterback of all time'. you're going to get questions that have many possible answers.

yes the first group is more accomplished in the sports stadium, but lets see them as debaters.

and I'll get my argument up within the next 2 hours. i know who I want, and I think I'll have a good stance on it.

exactly. I thought there were people discrediting one group because it didn't have as many regulars. I don't see that as fair, if the group had people who may be known for debating prowess (I haven't the foggiest idea, since I didn't look at any of the SDL stuff, since I want no part of it).

Nobody can also make an opinion on how bad it is either.

Exactly, it is going to be interesting to see who people take with the first debate.

FYI, I'm also a huge sports fan, I just don't post in the Stadium much. I think my opening post really proved I knew what I was doing. That wasn't exactly a streak I pulled out of my ass, I thought it through and chose it.

Ahh glad somebody chose UConn. I have a couple easy rebuttals for that one, but I probably won't get to it until tomorrow.

Stanford just dominated Virginia Tech. Stanford then put Harbaugh on their shoulders, and Harbaugh told the ESPN interviewer to stop talking to him and start talking to the defensive hero, then Luck acted like a total pro, after solidifying his status as a soon to be first overall pick.

4 years ago, Stanford won 1 game. Today, they won the Orange Bowl. Congrats to them, they deserve it.

FUCK Rece Davis. You DON'T ask Jim Harbaugh about leaving Stanford during the trophy presentation. Jesus Christ that's sad. Thank you Harbaugh for telling him off.
