1 playoff appearance (won the division in 2006-2007 only to be eliminated in the first round). Other then that they've been on the outside of the playoffs looking in.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are a 2000 expansion team that has only 1 playoff appearance (2008-2009 7-seed, 1st round elimination via sweep).

Oh, and I noticed the 1969 Knicks are in this B-Ball tourney. Is there a 90's Knicks team, or is it just championship teams. Stupid Jordan kept them from winning a championship in the 90's.

The Knicks had their chance in 1994 but they lost a 3-2 lead to Houston.

Like I said before the tournament should be just championship teams. If a team couldn't win a title then they sure as fuck couldn't be considered the best ever.

You're right. Just asking.

That brings to mind a different idea for a Tournament. Not that I'd be able to do it (especially with basketball, the one sport where my knowledge is shit).

I think I know what you're getting at and it inspired a new thread series that I just started in the sports section.

you did get what I was getting at. exactly what I was thinking.

I can't tell you shit about the NBA, since basketball isn't my thing. I would actually say that, while the 93-94 was their closest chance at the title, it might not have the best team, since they regularly were fucked royally by Jordan (and some by the Pacers, who also should get consideration for that thread).

I'm thinking of taking a slightly similar topic and starting a thread series eventually.

And since the NCAA Bowl LD is seemingly dead, this Sun Bowl is fucking amazing, if you're an Irish fan. The Catholics are murdering the Convicts.

On to a new SHOCKING development (and by shocking, I mean totally NOT shocking).

John Fox if OFFICIALLY not being retained by the Carolina Panthers, and neither are any of his assistants.

Fuck Verne Ludqvist, he jinxed the Irish kicker. Seconds after saying he was perfect, he missed a kick.

That's because all of the big games are tommorow. Florida/Penn State, Michigan/Mississippi State, MSU/Bama, TCU/Wisconsin, and yes, even OU/UConn. I mean, South Florida/Clemson? UCF/Georgia? This Miami/ND game had potential to be good, with it being and old rivalry and all, but the U lost their coach and their new one really hasn't taken over yet, and ND came to play while Miami looks like they wanna stay home.

FSU/South Carolina could be interesting, but I'm not all that interested in that game at all. Sadly, if I have nothing to do for New Years, I might actually watch it.

oh I know none of the games were high-caliber matchups. But that doesn't mean people won't watch. Hell, we watched the pre-Christmas bowls and had more activity then today. It's probably because poeple are likely busy today and not sitting at their computer while watching college football.

I, for one, am very interested in UCF/Georgia. One of my friends went there, so I"ll pull for them.

Breaking news for everyone looking for entertaining sports TV tomorrow. The Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic has been pushed back to 8 PM due to rain expected in Pittsburgh throughout the afternoon.

I think thats a great move. A night game should be awesome. I cant wait to watch it.

I think I asked this before, but has anyone been watching the 4 part HBO special on the road to the Winter Classic? Its really a great watch. I recommend checking it out if you are even slightly interested in hockey.

I know you can't jump the gun on Favre, but I think he's done. His streak is done, his contract is up with Minny, he was whacked around a few times pretty hard this year, and I don't see who would go after an erratic, 40 year old, now-fragile QB. He should sign a 1 day contract to retire as a Packer, and try to heal the wounds b/w the fans.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Favre is done. I love the guy and despite the fact he played for my rival for so many years I've always respected and enjoyed how he played the game. I'll most certainly miss him. Love him or hate him, but ya gotta respect him. One of the toughest SOB's to play the game.

I was getting annoyed of Ron Pitts and John Lynch's ********ing of him during the Lions game. I mean, when the Vikes were down ten they were like 'don't you wish we could see Favre try a 2 minute drive one more time?' like he was dying or something. I know the guys a first ballot HOF, but their ********ing of him in a game he wasn't even playing in was annoying.

I, too, am of the camp that believes Brett Favre is done. I was hoping that he would be active today, so that he can have one more drive, so that his career wouldn't end on an injury. Sadly, that wasn't to be (unless he comes back for the 89709237th time, this time with the 49ers or something).

Both the Packers and Favre know that there is no way he can NOT sign a 1-day contract with them so that he can retire where he belongs. Hopefully they will get that done.

I didn't hear any of it, but 2 things you must remember:

1. It's most likely his last game, and when a guy of his caliber is on a roster for the last time, they talk about him incessantly.
2. This might also be the first (and only) time Ron Pitts and John Lynch (Fox's 6th commentating team) got to call a Favre game, and as such they wanted to talk about him non-stop, like every other commentator.

Hopefully Favre and the Packers organization can put aside the drama of a few seasons back and get the deal done. It is meant to be and would be the perfect ending to his legendary career.

Oh yeah, I knew he would be the talk of the game, but during the final 5 minutes where the Vikings were moving the ball I wished they would've just shut up and called the game and stop hoping that Favre could suit up and get a final GW drive.

Two new threads up in the Stadium with one being the NFL Playoff prediction thread. Also the Sports Debate League starts tomorrow. No hard feelings when I demolish everyone in my path.

MLB Hall of Fame announcement is only two days away. I started a thread about it in the stadium about a month ago. I obviously jumped the gun with it because it got zero replies. It quickly got lost in the stadium with all the end of year threads. Just thought I’d bring it up because I figured someone would start a thread in the next day or two. You can find mine on page three in the stadium.

On a separate note, where the hell is Blue? I haven’t been as active over the past couple days, but it seems like forever since I’ve seen him here. Anyone know where he’s been? Did he decide to leave us?

I got my answer ready to go, just got to wait for crock to lead it off. This should be fun, and have been waiting for this anxiously as I haven't posted non spam in a long ass time.

I hope he didnt leave us. I'm pretty sure STL got some bad weather recently and maybe his internet is down or something like that. I hope hes ok though.

The 1st group of the SDL is stacked. The second one is good, but the most of the most likely guys to win it are in Group 1.
