The Rock and his one night WWE Return

The Next One
I just went on PWInsider.com and they're showing spoilers for SD 10ths anniversary..what does this have to do with Raw?

Well, I read about the Rock segment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REq05U4j9TM

*Taped Rock promo. They're doing like 5 or 6 takes. He makes a random comment asking who Dolph Ziggler is. He then goes on to do the "Finally the Rock has come back to Smackdown" and talks about being there since the beginning. The crowd chants his name, etc. He talks about CM Punk, says he should be called BM Punk (bowel movement). He talks about making history with Taker, tells a camera guy to shave his chest, talks about Hell in the Cell and says maybe its time he guest hosts Raw. The crowd went nuts for that.

This is prolly a small tease and can (not will) happen..Wouldn't this awesome! I really dont have the words to think of the rock's return to the WWE..but man it'd be something..one can only hope he hosts a 3hr edition of Raw. Sorry guys, but the reason why i kept watchin the wwf is cause of him lol..i'll end the corny stuff right here. Just wanted your thoughts

Bringing in someone like Rock or SCSA for a three hour RAW is an excellent idea. We won't want some random celeb hosting a three hour edition with talent from all three shows. Maybe we get this wish when the next 3-hour RAW eminates from Hershey, PA in November.

Well if Rock is going to return ANYtime, it might be for a guest host position. Let's be honest: The Ro... I mean Dwayne Johnson, a guy who would be a nutrition specialist at a Florida gym had it not have been for WWE, has done everything possible to stay away from WWE. He's been jokingly called out by Cena time and time again trying to lure him back in the ring. Dwayne isn't buying an in-ring return. I'm not either. I hate to say this because I don't know him as a person. But Dwayne Johnson sold wrestling and its fans down the river in order to make movies. While he is making millions and having less wear and tear on his body, you would think someone who basically owes his celebrity to this industry would be a little more appreciative to the company that brought him to the promised land.

However, it is in the realm of possibility for Dwayne Johnson to assume his role as The Rock on a guest hosting gig on Monday Night Raw. That would equal ratings for one night to see "The Great One" return to Monday Night. It would take a movie plug to get "The Rock" on TV... and the right TV crowd. I would definitely keep him away from New York. They'll eat him alive like a cheesecake at The View. LA or Miami would probably be the best bets for a Rock return. His return would be nostalgia, pure and simple. One last night of The Rock on WWE TV... other than possibly his own Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

I was a huge Rock fan back in the day. Decent wrestler in the ring, great mic skills, unbelievable charisma. But at the end of the day, The Rock's story is as much about what he did for the wrestling business as what he did after he was done to the wrestling business. Dwayne Johnson one day will have to smell the roses. WWE MADE THE ROCK! He wouldn't be where he's at without WWE or the wrestlers who helped put him over.

I'd watch all 3 hours of it and not miss a minute. Maybe make myself some popcorn and start watching 10 minutes before it starts just in case I don't miss a minute of THE GREAT ONE! or THE RATTLESNAKE! Another person I'd like to see guest host Raw is Eric Bischoff. The former Raw GM would be great for the guest host concept. I got an idea, how about they bring back people from the Attitude Era for a number of consecutive weeks and that would make things SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING.

I just got back from the event, everybody went nuts when he said "maybe it's time I host RAW". Promo was funny though, it seemed like it all flowed naturally as if he never left.

BTW, show was great I wouldn't miss it friday. Good matches not to lengthy anddd the main event was great.

Oh yeah and I couldn't believe people actually cheered for hornswaggle......like 20 year old+ -.-

Well I don;t think they were cheering HIM as much as cheering for what he did..... (to Maria) ;) I won't spoil. And The Rock was great. You guys don't wanna miss his segment. Very funny.

The Rock was hilarious as I expected. It seemed as if he never lost it. Calling out Ziggler and Punk, raising the eye brow, singing about Jabroni Drive, making fun of people interviewing him and girls with action screen. What set it off was when he said "maybe its time for the great one to host raw". The building vibrated.

I would LOVE to see The Rock host Raw, it's like And I'm Awesome said, it would be a lot better than some random celebrity hosting. IF he would host a Raw, they would have to do it for a huge event like a 3 hour Raw or a Raw leading into a PPV or something...the 3 hour Raw would make a lot more sense because, 1) the fans would LOVE to see The Rock return to WWE in some form, and 2) I think that the WWE would trust Rock with a lot more on screen things as far as matches and what not (I hate when the announcers or wrestlers say during Raw, "I just got back from seeing...whoever the host is...and they said this..."

Personally, I would just love to see The Rock interact with Triple H again, even HBK.....and I really think that seeing Rock and Santino on the screen at the same time would be classic

I would mark out way more for the Rock then I would SCSA - Seriously, I have seen Austin dozens of times since his retirement and as cool as that is its just not a big deal anymore. The rock on the other hand, you know it'll be ages before it happens again if it ever does.

Just My Opinon

at the very least, WWE should bring it peopel that know what the damn product is all about..seriously! at the very least, bring people the fans will know.honestly who knows the reverend Al Sharpton? Who knows ZZ-Top? I doubt even half the average audience has any idea who Bob Barker is!

if the rock hosted it...i would love it... we would actually get someone who can make a decent promo and who knows wrestling... and imo i would think cena would get screwed somehow :D

i havent watched a WWE event in a few weeks because they all come on while im at work here in japan...but if rock hosts RAW, i'd use one of my sick days and have a party for that RAW. an announced rock return would be nearly as big as a PPV.
As for Rock doing a 3 hour RAW?....doubt it. to get someone of his caliber to host RAW, its gotta his venue choice and his date because im sure the E is telling rock, 'whatever you need champ, just host our show!'. so if Rock wants to travel to PA to the 3 hour edition, then sweet!

but i doubt it.

If the Rock returned, even just as guest host, he would have to return as a heel.... purely because he has heat with Super Cena. The money involved with bringing the Rock back would be huge as well at least in the 500k range. Can you see VKM spending that much on a one night aperance, even if its the rock?

But im sure heel or face, the crowd would mark the F out... i know i will.

Thanks For Reading

BTW im not as big a shelton mark as i formaly was.

it would be such a memorable moment if the Rock came back to host RAW.
Most of the previous hosts have been terrible, and haven't brought anything to the table. they have just been there to promote their new blah blah blah. But the Rock knows what wrestling is all about and we all know how good he is when you put a mic in front of him.

i would cry tears of joy if he came back.

Vince paid Hogan 400k for one Summerslam match. So yeah, I could see Vince spending 500k just to get Rocky for one 3 hour Raw which if promoted properly could break 5.0 in the ratings. Look how high the ratings for Shaq went. Fans know he's an actual wrestling fan and people like him. How many more would tune in for a one night return of one of the biggest names in wrestling history? They have built in spots for him with Santino, Cena, and HHH. And he'd have the Hogan reaction at WM18 if he came back as a heel, Cena would get booed out of the damn arena like Rock was against Hogan.

The Crock Dwayne Johnson will not be returning to WWE at all he is making more millions than any wrestler combined! I don't see him even hosting RAW as well as I don't see Bret Hart either doing a host they should scrap this hosting special as it is declining rates of WWE RAW showed for 2 months RAW sucked big time with every guest they got from a comedian Cedric The Entertainer to Reverand Sharpton to Shaq and so on
It works well when wrestlers host it like Trish and Batista
But since now Vicky GUerrero is finally returning to RAW and SMackdown it will eliminate the hosting concept from celebrities as it sucks
Seriously hosting RAW with a celebrity is awful it is not The Tonight SHow with Jay Leno and Late NIght with David Letterman !

Like I said, if WWE was smart enough to bring in old school big names, and with proper promos, ratings will sky rocket! I know there are potentially millions (and millions) out there who would sit down and watch the two full hours of Raw just to see old time greats! Whether its Bret, Rocky, SCSA, hell some people even like Hogan, it would work..

Regarding last monday, well I was disappointed..got bored after 30min..but I had a good laugh as soon as Al came out lol "tough crowd"..ya damn right!

If anybody saw the spoiler video on the main page, The Rock had a perfect promo/interview video. It was pre-taped and he still knew when the fans would cheer. When they did, he paused. When they cheered he said things like, oh yeah-referring to the fans' cheers. Even though this was pre-taped, he knew that when the fans would cheer, booed and laugh and he paused or said something. He's the perfect promo maker/speaker that graced the land of wrestling. He has a connection with the fans that nobody else has and he knows how everyone will react. And that wasn't his entire speech. I just can't wait for The Rock's full video and when he guest hosts Raw.

Your thoughts.

there's a full video up for those who are interested..but ya totally agreed..he'd prolly be the best raw guest host no question..

I have some idea of when he will guest host. The night after Survivor Series, it's being said that Raw will have a 3 hour special. That would make the most sense right now since his movie comes out November 20th and he would promote it. And 3 full hours of The Great One at a WWE event is fucking amazing. Hey, you heard it here first, The Rock to guest host November 23rd edition of Raw. It will probably be called "The Rawk" or something like that, lol.

I wouldn't to ruin the entire Rock segment for myself so I'll wait until Friday to watch it. I watch it on youtube at around 1-2 o'clock because some people put it up there and I'm a religious Jew so I can't watch it Friday night. Can't wait.

Guys, I just watched the promo The Rock cut for Smackdown this Friday, and it's the damn most entertaining thing I've seen on WWE Television in quite sometime. There's just something about The Rock that instantly brings a smile to your face and makes you happy to be a wrestling fan. But, the problem is that WWE doesn't have anyone close to being anywhere near as fun as him on the current roster, and personally... I think it's a bad idea to bring him The Rock in just for a couple of shots, because he's going to show himself to still be the most entertaining person the WWE has, and will ever, have. To me, that's a problem.

Sure, if he hosts Raw, it'll be a very good Raw and I will sure as shit tune in, but doesn't it hurt every other babyface in the company, when this guy who's not on roster comes in and cuts better promos on heels than everyone else? Isn't it a problem that WWE tries to promote Raw as a comedy show, yet no wrestler is actually funny, but when a former wrestler like The Rock comes out, the show all of the sudden is hilarious?

No one in WWE has a delivery like The Rock. No one is anywhere near as charismatic or electrifying, and to keep reminding us that by bringing this dude back just for a couple of shots is just not good business, in my opinion. I mean, seriously... Raw with him is going to be great for 1 week, but what happens the next week when his presence is no longer apart of the program? It takes a huge decline, that's what, and other wrestlers just look like shit because of it. All we will think about the week after The Rock host is, "Damn, I wish The Rock was here." And I think pretty much all of you will agree with that.

What do you think? Do you agree with me, or do you think I'm looking too much into it? Do you think one or two shows featuring The Rock is worth all the trouble it could possibly cause, just so when can be entertained for those couple of hours he's on? What do you think?

Sadly, I think the Rock coming back for even just one night will unfortunately be a bad thing. It just shows today's audience how much WWE completely sucks compared to back in the days when the Rock was with the company. Obviously, this is something that older fans already know. But it really puts the WWE of today very much in a negative perspective compared to when times were so much better.

It would serve WWE well to really look at how things were ran back then and do a little compare/contrast session with today and determine where they are going wrong. Obviously though, those of us with half a brain who don't have tunnel vision could probably list about 2 dozen things off the top of our head, for them.

Well if he guest host i don't think it will be that bad of a thing. I mean most likely alot of his old schools fans the one who watched the Attitude era and stop watching wrestling will tune in and maybe some of the people that are fans of his movies will tune in since they like Dwayne Johnson and it would raise the rating to at least a 3.9 4.0 so it wont be that bad.

It could be awful in the short-run, but it could be the thing that shows Vince and the current performers just how much they need to improve, and do it quickly. The ratings that RAW would get with Dwayne guest hosting would be stupidly high, and the only way they'll ever be able to reproduce those is if they can build some guy's up and allow them to just let loose on the mic and in the ring.

I'm not going to watch the segment, I don't want to be spoiled haha.

Is it good or bad? Really doesn't matter to me. Most of us wrestling fans are nostalgists. Who wouldn't be seeing the radical change between 2001 and 2004? I'm honestly just fed up about all the whining. Maybe this exposes how bad the WWE is in its current state, but I just want to freaking see the Rock. Man, that just brings a big smile to my face.
