The Rhodes VS The Shield

The Eighties

Forward Thinking Nostalgist
The angle with Cody's firing looks like it will be one of the focuses going forward in this big Corporation storyline and after Goldust tried to help last week I can't see Dusty not showing up soon to try and reason with Triple H.

This got me to thinking, at one of the October PPV's could we see The Rhodes vs The Shield for Cody's job?

I mean I know Dusty is 67 but he wouldn't have to do much and I think the Rhodes family together vs The Shield could be a lot of fun on a "B" PPV.

Any interest?

I'm all for it. Good minds think alike. Rhodes Family vs. the Shield w/Cody getting the pin on Ambrose and elevating him further is just "Good for business." I thought it would happen at Survivor Series. The crowd was hot for Cody when he got "fired". It was hot for Goldust last week. It's only a matter of time before Dusty gets involved.

It wouldn't be a horrible idea. I think they could really let Cody shine and help him break out from his current state as a mid-carder. Goldust is probably worth another match or two and I personally love Dusty so would be glad to see him on TV. The obvious problem is could Dusty work a match. If it was a 6-man tag then he could just stay on the apron which I have no issue with.

What if (just for argument sake) Dusty sides with HHH and the McMahons? I doubt it would happen, but what if they take that angle instead? Just sayin..

I have to agree with Oldschoolersrule because that would be a decent angle. Have Cody come back at NOC and cause Daniel Bryan the match so Orton retains. The next night on RAW have him come out with the "Corporation" to explain his actions and say something along the lines that HHH or VKM offered him a job back if he was willing to join them. I could see Cody playing the mid-carder for a few more months before turning face on his former protege leading to a title match between Orton and Rhodes thus launching Rhodes into the main event picture as a top face.

Sounds great to me. I think Dusty, Cody & Goldust vs. Ambrose, Rollins & Reigns would be a fantastic addition to the new Battleground PPV.

Also that leaves Cody & potentially even Goldust for a short time open to feud with members of The Shield one on one going into Survivor Series, most likely Dean Ambrose since he holds the United States Championship.

& just on a random fantasy booking note, I'm not only really interested in seeing The Shield face off against other 3-man teams that are on the roster full-time like The Wyatt Family or even 3MB but I'd be extremely interested in seeing The Shield eventually take on some incarnation of Evolution or The McMahon Family. Triple H, Randy & a returning Batista vs. The Shield or Triple H & Mr. McMahon teaming with Randy or a returning Shane O' Mac to take on The Shield could be some awesome matches!

Well Dusty is going to be on Raw tonight and will hear a business proposition from Stephanie, I wonder if this could be the set up for the match to take place at Battleground as it's only 3 weeks away.

It looks like they could be building towards this. I was excited for this potential match and Raw only heightened this. As I stated previously, this could be a great match for all involved and should really happen at Battleground.

There's talk of this match indeed happening at Battleground, though it's iffy. After all, Dusty Rhodes is almost 68 years old and that alone is enough to make his inclusion in a six man tag match unlikely. Shit can happen in a wrestling match no matter what precautions are taken and preparations are made.

At the same time, however, Dusty Rhodes has lost a lot of weight. He's slimmer now than I've seen him in a very, very long time. If he's willing to do it, he undergoes medical exams to make sure there's nothing wrong and his involvement inside the ring is limited; then I'm all for it.
