The Rey Mysterio Corps

remyx

TEAM ME
Now why on Earth did they not have Mysterio even bring up his WWE championship rematch on RAW?! Maybe they will have him fight for it when RAW goes to San Diego the night after Summerslam… that would be frickin’ awesome.

I however want to see them do something even better (in my mind) with the luchadore. They’re always playing up the fact that Rey is like a superhero, what with the mask and high flying moves… In DC comics they have The Green Lantern Corps (and various other lantern corps) and more recently a group of different people taking up the mantle of Batman (with Bruce Wayne as the leader) in Batman Inc. Marvel also did something similar in a mini-series called 'Captain America Corps'.. I know wrestling is not comics, and I know Rey isn't really a superhero.. but hear me out.

THE MYSTERIO CORPS.

Now don’t get me wrong, it does sound a bit silly. But Rey can still be the good guy the kids want to cheer for.. and he can band together a few other of the smaller guys who get pushed aside. Tyson Kidd, Even Bourne maybe, possibly any other smaller guys they’re looking to bring onto the main shows. He could use them as a means to and end to get his title back from the conspiracy that is John Cena as paper WWE Champion. They could look to Rey to lead them, he’s not that bad on the mic and any team that ‘fly’ the mysterio colours would get over more.

and besides he could pull of the disgruntled, yet doing whats right by himself, superhero leader type character. Why wouldn't people follow him? One of the most over wrestlers of the past 15 years, always gets the spotlight, has won the world championship 3 times, and in the space of 8 days was in a televised ladder match, 3 match tournament WINNING the championship, and the fighting champion he is defended it ONLY to narrowly be defeated by a fresh John Cena who had only competed in ONE match in those eight days.

Lets be honest they’ve had worse & more childish idea’s in wrestling in the past 5 years. The Boogeyman? Hornswoggle? Rey wouldn’t have to play it down or even pander to the kids either. So what if he has a group of smaller, but great, wrestlers who wear the Rey mysterio winged symbol and all fight under a common idea, they had Stone cold be the sheriff of RAW with a damn sheriff badge, and even after HHH made fun of it I thought it was still awesome. Wrestling is meant to be fun!

THE MYSTERIO CORPS

I think that's an awesome idea, throw guys like Bourne, Kidd hell even Yoshi Tatsu. this would be a perfect way of getting these guys more exposure and also add more personality to their in my opinion bland characters.
Have Have Ziggler, Mcgilicutty & Otunga come form a stable and say the reason why they joined forces is because athough their Champions, they aint getting the deserved respect blah blah.
Let the writers come up with some storyline causing Rey Mysterio Corps and Zigglers to fued.
I see this as a win -win situation for all those invloved.

Not to shabby remy, its a pretty good idea BUT sorry to pop your bubble bro but the WWE isn't so good at maintaining stables. I can see who CAN be in the stable but the WWE would probably blow it in the span of three months tops. Instead of making Evan, Kidd, Yoshi(-_-), Zack Ryder(yeah that's for the Zack Pack), etc. etc. it may very well break them. However only time will tell what will happen if this stable actually does come into fruition.

I just see this as you cleverly trying to turn Mysterio heel and nothing else. You really that fans that hate Cena would cheer for guys like Bourne and Kidd. A majority of the audience will boo them and I guarantee you that. Besides, we don't know how Summerslam is going to turn out. If John Cena beats Punk or the other way around, then your idea would be pretty useless.

Why would Rey need to be heel? I never mentioned that him being whiny, or an out of character arse. But why would a face Rey Mysterio getting whats owed to him, and taking the lead and some initiative make him bad all of a sudden? When Rey and Cena face off the crowd is always split, more often than not IN Rey's favour.. Bourne & Kidd don't have to be pushed above anyone else in the roster, but having them just waste away in purgatory is doing nothing for them... sooner have them get some airtime, maybe an actual voice and do what they're doing now with more force and heat behind their characters than needlessly face off and lose meaninglessly in throw away matches.

All i'm doing is airing idea's that I'd like to discuss and hear others opinions on. Im sure every die hard wrestling fan has a wishlist of things they'd like to see happen and scenarios that they think would make wrestling better. Everyone knows the WWE writers can't normally string two decent shows together in a row, without them actually keeping up with continuity.

Everyone on the roster can benefit by just actually EXISTING within the WWE 'universe' without having to win all the time, or hold titles, or hog the spotlight. APA were more over than any of the tag teams now even when they only appeared in skits backstage.. but it added to the product. Crash Holly could have lost every week and still been over than more than half the roster including those people he was losing to... even if he never was a big draw he had his place and people looked forward to that.

And also I never said anything about Cenas haters or supporters having any preference towards guys I merely suggested as being in this group. Hell its nice when the fans these days even so much as make any reaction during the show.

I was thinking about this earlier today actually. I was thinking about how during the "attitude era" there seemed to be a lot more superstars on my tv then now, and I realized why. Stables. Sure we can have Mysterio vs. Ziggler, but why not have "The Mysterio Corps" vs. Ziggler's corps? It would take about the same amount of air time to give triple the amount of people some exposure. And you never know who's waiting in the wings. It might give a perfect platform for someone to hit their stride and make it big. All the sudden the crowd is behind a guy and its not even Rey. It gives more people a chance, you can have many more match types, a wider variety of story telling ability, and you don't lose any time from Raw or Smackdown then you would just by having Kofi Kingston fight Dolph again.
But like someone else said, WWE just likes to drop the ball on this stuff. Stables and tag teams need longevity to make a difference. And WWE's favorite move is to have them break themselves up EVERY chance they get. Hart Foundation, Corre, Nexus, S.E.S., I could go on but you get the point. APA were around FOREVER and they were legendary. Then when JBL turned on Farooq, it wasn't "oh here we go again" it was "DAMN" (pun intended).

Basically, I completely agree, But i don't want them to do it if they don't last. Hell the Mysterio Corp idea could take Rey WAY beyond retiring, he could last on tv forever without having to wrestle anymore. That'd be up to him, but it opens up many possibilities that having 50 one on ones during the show don't.

Mysterio sucks, i mean seriously who gives a damn about mysterio, he's been doing the same old shit now for 10 years, it was good at first but after 10 years of springboard followed by 619 and usually getting the shit kicked out of him for an entire match and then coming back like a superhero, i mean ino that the sin cara and rey are meant to be superhero's but rey should just retire and pass the torch over to sin cara after a match at mania next year. I hope that happens cuz man i am tired of that gay ass 619!

Despite Rey being way past his prime, and some of hit spots being old hat, he is still a ring general, has a lot of name value, adds credibility to any show he's on AND is still able to tell an awesome story in the ring. Having Rey in a stable puts him with regular tag partners, diminishes his need to compete on every show, gives those he works with the rub, gives his character a new lease of life AND could spice up the tag division, mid-card and potentially main-event divisions. Also it would breathe life into rehashes of any past feuds or shorelines he's been in...

And if WWE want to look for merchandise... Kids would eat up anything rey mysterio.. let alone if they build a group around him. How could it not do well.

You said what I meant way better than I said it. I agree, its freshens it up, gives Rey a little more longevity if he wants it, and creates a whole set of new ideas. It doesn't even necessarily have to be Rey, but for merch reasons, name reasons, and keeping Rey around it would work great.
