Stepping down had to be done. I loved the admin role, but I felt there came a time in which I was actually holding Sly back more than I was helping him. I'm proud of what I accomplished in my time as admin.

Jake and Jonny did an amazing job changing the culture and hoisting the standards of this forum, truly making it an elite place to post.

I inherited that culture and worked towards a stronger relationship with the board owners (which has led us to main page posts, links to the forums, new avatars and plug ins, and a liason in 'Buffaloed') and a marketing campaign.

But yeah, it had to be done. And I took a cushy retirement job with the NWS's.

Not saying it was a wrong move, just saying it was a saddening day to see, while I really, and I mean really enjoy you as the NWS moderator (because I've always enjoyed your posts, you post more as a mod to drive discussion obviously) I still considered you to be a great admin, must be because I was never around for the time where all the "greats" of admins were around.

I still think it's odd as fuck to hear about Jake being an admin, not that I don't find it possible, but just because I weren't around for it, I don't know half of the old names.

I wish I weren't so lazy, I'd read up on the archive threads.

Didn't see Captain on the menu, but since you generally drink Screwdrivers, I'll take babysteps with you until your testicles drop.

<passes DC a Capt' and Coke>

It's Rum. And I don't usually drink but my friend got me hooked on screwdrivers. (Orange Juice and Vodka).

And since I'm Russian and Polish, I gotta have me some vodka.

Depends on my mood / the weather / the setting. When I hit up an Irish Pub and I want beer, my favorite foods are, in the following order:

Shepherd's Pie (especially in the Fall and on St. Patty's Day)
Grilled Chicken Sandwich (w. lettuce, tomato, cheese, and honey mustard)
Grilled Chicken Salad (romaine lettuce, dressing on the side)
A nice sirloin

I'm usually pairing beer with something grilled. I've never tried eating a salad though but I'll try Shepherd's Pie next time. What's your favorite kind of beer to go with that? A brown ale maybe?

Have you ever tried beer with seafood (grilled fish, crab, oysters, lobster etc)? It's actually pretty good.

Been to a couple of Irish pubs myself.

Overrated

Only benifit of "Irish Pub" is being able to watch Rugby or GAA games while on holiday. That or watch them pour Guinness wrong.

The Irish Pub I was dragged into in Turkey/Tunisia was run by a local. They made it Irish by making it green and painting some clovers sporadically around the place. I think that's the type IC25 goes to.

Did I really annoy my way to my mod spot? Or did I do something right?

People are suspicious. Er, were. Something.

And I'll take a water.

Again, depends on the mood and the season. I'll often acquiese to a Guinness, unless I am overheated or want something lighter, in which case a Rolling Rock is a high choice.

Add to the Pub List - NewCastle Brown. Goes AWESOME with a marinated burger.

Absolutely. I am a seafood nut. I love Canadian White Ales with seafood, though wine will always top the list for me.

You're not welcome here

I've seen some shocking pints of Guinness being served. Watched in horror as someone in my local, which normally does a really good pint of the black stuff, fill the entire glass upright and then leave it to settle... such a waste

Watching Rugby in an "Irish" pub in Austria this winter was somewhat surreal

The lack of a FromtheBack mention in the OP is insulting.

Okay, not really. FromtheBack approves of this thread. I'll take a Jameson if you please.

<sends one>

If they are not the designated driver and it is not being used as a 'mixer' or to wash glasses, water should not be welcome in an "Irish" pub

Given my penchant for detoxing and / or not wanting to drink on days in which I've lifted heavy in the gym (alcohol blunts testosterone production and recovery, you see), and the fact that several of my friends don't drink at all, I am willing to accept water as an order.

Bartender, I'll have the Newcastle Brown with a marinated burger please.

I've never had wine. I heard that red wine is good for the heart and white wine goes perfectly with seafood though. I eat grilled seafood with dark ale, preferably Guinness. I guess my palette needs to be more refined. But when I do try wine, I'll remember to try Canadian White Ale first. Thanks for the advice IC.

Ah, an "Irish-themed" pub then

I've gotten curious, IC are you the "incredibly hot chick bartender who gets constantly hit on" or the "Bald fuck that both serves in the bar, and owns the place"? or a little bit of both?

I just realized CM Punk would be all over this thread, he'd cut a promo longer than all the promos Jack has ever cut since he became champion.

While wearing his mask.

White guy, fake brogue, probably could leave your kids with and think they'd be safe, would NEVER leave your wife with and think she'd be safe. The bartender you'd say to yourself "I think I could take him if I had a weapon, but he looks like a guy who can blow up my car."
