Six seasons of Making the Band, spending money on two Danity Kane albums (the only two albums I own), calling into radio stations to play them, keeping all their videos on for hours so they could get views, and all we get in return is Diddy sitting in his stupid, white robe and telling us he just got of the hot tub, oh and btw Danity Kane is broken up. It was a comparison, as many metal bands own and operate from their own labels, Arch Enemy, Behemoth, Soulfly, Nile numerous black metal bands to name a few. There are labels like Biohazard, Earache, and Roadrunner which specialize in the signing and managing of metal bands, but many metal bands choose to start and run off their own record label in order to avoid what happened to Danity Kane
If Danity Kane were operating from their own label that they created, then Diddy wouldn't have gotten the power to break up the band. It would have meant that DK wouldn't have been as mainstream, but the real fans of this group wouldn't have cared how popular they were within the media, just as long as they made good music... right?
