fuck. watching NFL network just makes me miss football more
I know how you feel. I'm both excited and nervous for the season to start. I'm excited because Carolina has what could only be described as their best WR core in a very long time. And a pretty good looking backfield. Delhomme will hopefully be ready, and we just signed a pair of vet DTs to strengthen the middle of our front 4.
Our draft was okay, I'm still a bit upset about Stewart being the guy over Mendenhall. And Otah better win a ton of f*cking awards for the arm, leg and dick we gave up to get him. In my opinion, the best guy we got in the draft came in round 3 with Dan Connor, who is not only arguably the best guy in our draft.. but one of the absolute best LBs in the entire draft, period. So I'm excited for those things.
I'm nervous because if Delhomme goes down instantly, we could wind up like last year all over again. I'm more confident this year then I was last year, knowing Matt Moore has another year under his belt and showed great leadership in his final few games last season.. however I'm more concerned that while we have some 15 odd O-linemen, not any pair of 5 of them can correction stand together long enough to save our QBs ass.
I hope I'm wrong about that to be honest, but its never wise to lean on FA and the draft to be your key to a greater future, by completely having those two items fix a problem. (for example: 1 rookie OL, 2 vets from FA, and 2 returning OL from last year = doesn't equal unity)
Now, to touch on an earlier subject. I watched NFL Total Access tonight.. and I downright laughed at Hurney (Panther's GM) trying to play off Stewart being a great back. T.D. and someone else were even sucking the guy's d*ck trying to compare the kid to T.D... saying hes similar to the likes of Stephen Davis as well. Saying hes got great power, to go with Williams speed.
All the videos I've seen of Stewart show him running option plays, from Dixon taking all the coverage away, then tossing the ball behind him, across the field to a wide open Stewart. Okay.. first with this.. A.) Delhomme is NOT going to take on coverage, in an attempt to fake running with the ball. Hes not crazy. B.) Even if he was crazy, the NFL vets aren't college stupid.
Another thing. They kept saying the kid has power. In any play that wasn't an option.. it was of him running
SIDE-FUCKING-WAYS! How is this a good thing? Hes gonna gain 200 neutral yards running east and west, and negative 10 yards, getting drilled behind the line.
