The Online Late at Night Thread

A Lion's Tale is fantastic. I've reread it over and over, and I'm still not bored with it. It's fun to go on YouTube and watch what he talks about, especially in WCW.

Pretty good man, definitely find the big 3 fights from 126. They are worth the watch. I'm actually rewatching Bader/Jones right now.

I saw the Anderson Silva vs Belfort end...... that was unexpected to say the least. It was a beautifully placed front kick, Vitor didn't want anything after that. (watched it on youtube)

I was surprised with Franklin vs Griffin, I thought that Rich would have implemented his hands abit more. He is still small for 205, he would only be 212+ before camp. Looked like a middleweight next to Forrest at the weigh in.

Didn't see anything on Bader vs Jones..... besides the weigh ins when I saw abit too much of Jones.

HAHA, yeah a very awkward weigh in picture of Jones and his....erm....package. Good for him though, I guess. Franklin should have used his hands more, but Griffin fought a smart fight and I liked it. Also, very unexpected finish in the Belfort/Silva fight. I am no Silva fan but I respect his abilities. At least when he fights like this I can enjoy his fights and forget that he is a total prick for a few minutes.

He has owed it to the fans I think. Too many times we are willing to forgive him and too many times he treats a fight like a joke. when he is on, when the fire is lit he truly is a beast of a fighter and the fans appreciate him for it. But when he forgets that entertainment is what the fans paid to see........ we see the arrogant side of him.

I can agree with this. He is such a unique fighter, one that is pretty much one of a kind in his abilities, but he doesn't showcase them because he is "bored". Well I call shenanigans on that, when he is motivated I can actually respect and enjoy his fights, but when he is lazy and acts like a jack ass I am definitely against the guy. I respect him as a fighter but I think he is a jack ass and disrespects the fans to much.

By not fighting to the best of his abilities. It may have been a bad choice of words, but he does get lazy and plays with his opponents instead of putting on fights which is something fans don't like to see. If you can beat the guy then beat him but don't drag it out.

Sounds very Randy Moss-ish in terms of not always showing up to his level of ability. Note I don't follow MMA and stuff, just what I'm taking from this. One day I'll try and follow, but right now I haven't had the dedication to do so lol.

I meant them words, people pay alot of money to see professional fighters fighting to the best of their abilities. If I wanted to see someone dance around, I'd have saved the $40 and hired Strictly Ballroom or something. It is disrespectful to the fans who saved for weeks getting the money to buy tickets to the show and when someone like him dances, mocks and plays with an opponent what is a fan meant to think.

Exactly. What is a casual fan who doesn't really follow MMA think. "This guys a clown, I don't have time for this shit." There is a time and a place for the antics Silva does. Sometimes it works and is actually enjoyable like when he fought Forrest Griffin but when you watch his fights with Cote, Leites, and Maia it just makes himself look bad and makes the sport look silly. When Silva is trying he is the best fighter in all of MMA but the problem is he has been very unmotivated lately, though he has now finished 2 fights in a row and it has been great to watch.

Great minds think alike, I have thought this since I saw the disgusting mismatch that was Silva vs Cote.

I will agree even if he doesn't a finish though but still gives it his all, I'll give him his props and sing his praises.

Yeah, I may not be a fan but as long as he is actually fighting and not pretending that he is on Dancing With the Stars I can at least mildly enjoy his fights and respect him.

Also Theo, you would be correct in your comparison to Randy Moss.

I've been flying through Jericho's first book A Lion's Tale this weekend, and I have Undisputed as well ready to be read. Fantastic read so far, I'm about halfway through.

That was a brilliant book. I loved every bit of it. I haven't picked up Undisputed yet though, I'll have to invest in that.

Have you read past Jericho's time in Mexico yet? That part had me in absolute stitches.

It's late, I'm bored, what's up? How fucking awesome was DBD and King teaming up tonight? I know I for one popped a woody.

The champ is supposed to look weak anyway. Every title defense he has had (save Morrison) has been a dirty win. He should be made to look weaker than King, it's smart booking.

But how convincing of a Champion can he be in young fans eyes if he is being perceived as weak compared to an announcer who retired over a decade ago from full time wrestling.
