The Online Late at Night Thread

I've prayed once when it comes to sports. It went unanswered. State chsmpionship football game. Fuck, I marched the team down in the snow with my shoulder GONE, and they beat us on a fluke field goal. I'll NEVER be able to let go.

ROCKY, remind me of the last time Notre Dame actually won a big game. I'm pretty sure the MWC and the WAC have a better BCS record than Notre Dame.

I used to be a Kiffin supporter when I thought the Raiders fucked him over, but after what he did ditching Tennessee for USC like that and leaving a trail of accusations behind, he showed his true colors.

I don't mean to bitch about religion, but what exactly does praying do for a handoff? I mean shit, I get praying and then maybe some helpful wind blows during a pass, but what effect is it supposed to have where no elemental forces can change what happens

Supposedly it worked for a last second field goal in the 1982 ND-Michigan thread.

Too bitter about football to care at this point.

Thing is the Jazz got some good pieces with the trade. Harris and Favors can be key building blocks for the future, if Sloan was still there he could have built them up nicely....I'm reaching for positivity work with me here.

Lane can suck one. Orgeron is the beast of that team. He's the recruiting stud.

You have me there USC has been better than ND over the last decade. We haven't been good since 2006 and haven't been real good since 1996.We've hired 3 straight idiot coaches in Davie, Willingham, Weis. Do I believe Kelly is the answer? Yes he is first coach since the 92 Lou Holtz coached team too win the last 4 games of the season. On top of that it was behind a freshman 3 star qb. We got a great recruiting class and a good coach and there is no reason I shouldn't be exited.

Problem is, Ty Corbin sucks.

We WILL be good down the road.

I would actually agree. I'm just curious as to how Kelly's system will play out at a university that's known for pro-style QB's. He's certainly a better hire than Weis.

That being said, Weis only won with Willingham''s recruits. Ty got an unfair shake.

Celtics fan here. Not that I'm a bandwagon jumper but I've been a KG fan for years and when he finally broke away from the T'Wolves I followed suit. Yes I know Magic/Celtics are rivals and all, but I switched because of KG and to piss my dad off since he's a Lakers fan.

We are now mortal enemies (just kidding of course). I hate the Celtics though. They are the only NBA team I can gather the energy it takes to hate. And it's all because of Paul Pierce. I can not stand him and I find it impossible to watch him play. I honestly can't watch a full Magic vs Celtics game because of how annoyed I get by how Pierce plays.

Clearly it worked for that game against the Texans.

That was seriously one of the happiest moments of my life as a Jags fan. My friend that I've known since we were eight said that's the happiest she's ever seen me. I remember everyone in the stadium just going beserk and just loving life hugging each other. They always play "Bro Hymn" after every Jag win and it was so much fun standing in my seat singing it along with every one else who was there. It's moments like this that show how sports can bring people together.

But the prayers were also answered during the first Colts game with Scobee's 59 yard field goal and several other times during the season. Although it ended in the most disappointing way possible, it was one of the most fun and intense seasons I've ever experienced.

EDIT: Nobody can call a big moment like Gus Johnson.

You'll get there, and you'll be on the upswing at the right time.

Lakers will break down shortly as Kobe reaches the twilight of his career.

San Antonio will break down. Parker and Manu are older physically than their age.

The Suns are done, Portland is relying on a ridiculously good year from Aldridge and what little is left of Roy's knees, The Nuggets will be rebuilding albeit with some good pieces, only major threat in the future is the Thunder. They still need a point guard but if they can get a facilitator they'll be dangerous. The Mavs need more youth otherwise they'll falter shortly as well.

The West is fucked talent wise in the next couple years. Too many veterans on the downswing while the East has all the young star power with Melo/Amare/LBJ/Wade/Williams/Rose/Howard etc. The Thunder will likely own the West for a number of years until another team like the Jazz can put it together. Otherwise the power has or will shortly shift to the East and it won't be wrangled away for some time.

Even as a Celtics fan it's hard to watch his style of play. He's got a herky jerky style that's not smooth, not very entertaining to watch, but you have to admit it's somehow effective. Rondo has quickly become a favorite of mine. It was odd seeing him suddenly gain that edge that KG, PP, and Allen had and he really developed quickly.

Not a fan of the Magic, I like Jameer Nelson but I don't like the Magic because my bro is a fan of theirs and I can't stop fucking JJ Reddick of all people on NBA2k11 against him.

No he didn't. Ty Willingham did not recruit after 2002 and that is what put Weis in trouble. Had Weis had a decent DC we would likely still have him as coach. Here is an example the 2003 and 2004 classes

http://rivals.yahoo.com/notredame/football/recruiting/commitments/2005/notredame-104

compare it to Weis's 08 and Kelly's first class.

Weis:http://rivals.yahoo.com/notredame/football/recruiting/commitments/2008/notredame-104

Kelly:http://rivals.yahoo.com/notredame/f...tredame-104;_ylt=AmSC4BdZjk_Kpmy8d51p8_5GtJB4

It wasn't a lack of scholorships either. If you remember prior to the Weis era ND ran an option attack and so I am not worried if the spread fits into ND. I am worried about our Defense and I believe Bob Diaco can coach a defense a million times better than Jon Tenuta and Corwin Brown.

Most of that was Lane oversight. Ed is widely regarded as one of the best recruiters in the country.

He is. Recruiting should never be an issue and it hasn't been since 05. However you need a coach to develop talent and Lane Kiffen hasn't proven to anyone that he can develop talent. While he is still very young it will be interesting to see his second season where it is said the biggest jump occurs as players learn the system and coaches know their role in the university.
