The Next #1 Contender

With Morrison once again defeating CM Punk at Summerslam, I really can't see WWE having this feud goin till Unforgiven.

Who do you see getting the next shot against Morrison as the #1 contender for the ECW championship?

I believe they need to shove this feud down our throats some more because these are basically the only two main eventers that ECW has. I dont see like Burke competing and help me if Big Daddy V gets the title. so i believe Cm punk should still be competing for the title because i think he is the only one there that could make it an interesting match if booked right. Morrison and Punk are future main eventers so i believe they should be fighting each other for the title until some one comes along and proves they could put on a decent match and be a decent main eventer on ECW.

EDIT: Maybe they'll make it a triple threat extreme rules with Punk getting a pin on the third man. The reason I don't think the third person (Elijah seems likely) would win is because, well, then you have Punk chasing him now. And if Punk is always chasing then it gets boring. We've also heard about a rumored ECW world title rematch on the live ECW show although that could always change.

this was reported right here on wrestlezone and this could be where the title switches hands i hop burke will win but that wont happen.........................................DAMN!

I think Burke should be the next #1 he's the next best wrestler they have & he's show he can handle a good match, only problem is that he keeps loosing to Punk but they've been good matches. maybe we've been getting some hints from Joey & Tazz for the past few weeks or longer every time Burke's out there they keep mentioning how Vince once said that Burke was the new face of ECW we'll have to see if it means anything. personally i think Burke shouldve got the title instead Morrison in the first place cause he was more established in ECW, plus Burke's my hometown boy "JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA" & i gotta support my hometown boy.

Punk...again The title change should have happened last night if it was going to happen. I'm sure we will see Punk/Morrison at Unforgiven in another rematch hopefully extreme rules and not some dumbass finish like the past 2 times. They are just making Punk look weak everytime he loses in 8 minutes in a botched way. Who else besides Punk is there to challenge?? Tommy Dreamer?? Yeah sure they would want to do that after he has been jobbed out weekly. Boogey?? LOL!!! surely not. He's in the middle with V and isn't cared about.

I think when punk wins and the Morrison feud is over there are two good feuds left for him on ECW hes will eventually have a great feud with Elijah Burke which will be much better than the last becausde its for the title and th other one will be between him and the eventually returning marcus cor von who is solid on the mich and defenitely puts on good matches and then after that there really isnt much left for punk. thats when it will get bad

Why the ugh for Stevie, I think Stevie is a brilliant wrestler and in my opinion one of the top guys in ECW for promos. He however is not main event material (unfortunately)

Likelihood will be that it could develop to a three way with Morrison, Punk and Burke maybes adding Big Daddy V into the fray with the way they've been building him up.

It won't be balls because he's fueding with Miz, Von Cor's out.

I'm going with this theory. I think it'll be one of two things.

1. Morrison v. Punk: Ladder Match
OR
2. Morrison v. Punk v. Burke: possibly even more, like Dreamer, Thorn, & Richards.. in some type of extreme elimination match.

Well if your talking about Unforgiven. I doubt Burke or Dreamer,Thorn,Stevie etc.. will be in the contention for the spot. It's without a doubt going to be Punk/Morrison again. There isn't anyone else ready which is why the belt should have been taken off last night. It's pretty obvious this will continue since Morrison cheated. I see Punk/Morrison Extreme Rules at Unforgiven if Punk doesn't take it before.

I can see Burke getting involved later on down the road but he and Dreamer just jobbed to V and Balls. Surely they aren't just going to stick them in there after a job like that.

Hopefully not Punk...three times is fucking enough. If he was going to win last night should've been it. He shouldn't be in the title picture anymore, that's just not realistic. Now, granted, giving him a 4th title shot isn't nearly as bad as Batista's fucking nine title shots and not winning the title once (and looking like he'll probably get another), but it's still bad.

The ideal situation would be to drop the ECW brand immediately, because there's simply nobody to challenge for the title. Other than Punk, the only faces on the brand are Boogey, Dreamer, Richards, and Balls, and certainly none of them deserve a title shot. Unfortunately that probably means it's Punk again...ugh. It would've made so much damn sense for him to win last night...it'd set up a blow off match with Morrison at Unforgiven, then he can go on to Elijah Burke, Kevin Thorn, Big Daddy V, maybe even The Miz, and Cor Von once he comes back. They're all better contenders than any of the other faces.

There are no other options or at least no good ones. Punk is the only option they have. But yes, we need a different match from these guys and the way Morrison keeps winning, it's like we're an old Monday Nitro styled screwjob happening to Punk. Unforgiven, let them wrestle and for god's sake, make it a different math like a ladder match or extreme rules and let Punk win the stupid thing.

CM Punk will be the number 1 contender and we all know that. They wouldv'e had Morrison beat him clean if it was the end of the feud. I read something about Big Daddy V going to another brand like Snitsky did so he probably won't win a title and just continue to dominate ECW. I think Armando will grant Punk another title shot and show the clip of Morrison cheating. Then Punk will win next week or this week, after that Morrison wants his rematch for the title at Unforgiven in a ladder match. Regardless of who wins at Unforgiven Burke and Dreamer will probably be semi in the title picture. I'm sure once Cor Von comes back he will be inserted into the title hunt as well right away.

Build these two up against each other for another month or two. Then have them end it and go their seperate ways, only to rekindle their feud sometime in the future on either Raw or Smackdown.

Are you insane? Did you not see their Summerslam match? These two have had 3 chances to put on the 'Match of the Night' calibar of a match.. & each match goes WORSE, not better. Their match last night had the worst ending of all three..

I'll agree that they should have a Ladder match, because both have the talent & potential for a star calibar Ladder match.. but I'm tired of single's match after single's match, with crap ending only one upping an even better crap ending.

In my opinion, I think Tommy Dreamer should be the next contender. Dreamer v. Morrison has the makings of a Dreamer v. Justin Credible feel to it.. kinda. Or even Thorn, Burke, Richards.. anyone but another single's match against Punk.

Well it looks like there will be a fatal four way match for the number one contenders spot tonight on ECW. Pitting, CM Punk, The Miz, The Boogeyman and Big Daddy V. From those selections i'm going to bet that Punk wins it and FINALLY ends up taking the ECW World Title at Unforgiven in more than likely some gimmick match.

I have no doubt in my mind that it will be Punk. Armando will just say it's his final chance. Thus he will win it at Unforgiven.

What's really pissing me off about the Morrison/ Punk fueud is that, in there desperation to get Morrison over there making Punk look bad. In my eyes they only put the title on Morrison because Benoit no showed and they intended for him to defeat Morrison on the next ECW show. Obvioulsy that didn't happen. i couldnt agree this feud is making Punk look bad he has been losing at every pay per view which basically means his stock is falling if that makes any sense. i agree Jake i believe Estrada will say it is his last chance so therefore Punk gets the belt. I believe Punk will win the match tonight win the title at unforgiven because people are not liking Johnny Morrison as champ. I believe after Punk wins the title he can feud with several others like Burke and everyone else Jake mentioned. also what i said before if another Super Heavyweight wins the title like Big Daddy V i will never watch ECW or SD again.
