The Miz vs John Morrison in the future

The Eighties

Forward Thinking Nostalgist
After it was announced that John Morrison would be cashing in his title shot on Raw rather than at the Royal Rumble quite a lot of posters were annoyed and it has been condemned as a waste on quite a few wrestling media sites.

Those that thought it was the right choice keep saying "They aren't big enough stars to main event a PPV" which is countered with "At the Rumble you can get away with it because the Rumble match is the draw"....However think of it like this;

Neither JoMo or Miz have ever headlined a PPV in a singles match with an established main event star let alone without one, so what WWE has done here is they have given Miz and JoMo the opening match on the first Raw of the New Year and given them 15 minutes + to showcase themselves to the whole WWE fanbase, and in the vast majority of opinions they tore the house down.

So what you have now is a match that a week ago may have struggled to draw on PPV, however now anyone doubtful they were capable of pulling off a main event match have seen they can and may well be more inclined to pay to see a rematch down the line.

Agreed. Both guys showed the world they could pull off a great match together. I see this as a beginning to a later feud sometime after wrestlemania. There is no way John Morrison is going to fail. The guy is way too over and the WWE needs to keep on pushing him. He has the look, has good ring skills and has been good on the mic. Not amazing on the mic, but good enough. He has confidence and keeps it short and sweet. Nothing wrong with that.

When he comes up with a catchphrase he will just explode into the main event.

Kinda annoys me that Morrisons spot got bumped. Like... that match will be better than any Orton Miz match

Same feeling here, I so do not want to suffer through another boring Miz vs the human Shit Stain match. Morrison and Miz could have stolen the show at RR now, we will have a 20 minute rest hold match instead, color me not interested.

i actually think morrison tore the house down, not the miz. Morrison did the dive, took the barricade bump, took the starship pain table etc. The miz was there captilizing on the situation like a typical heel would.

John Morrison and Miz are definitely not done with each other. The WWE has a rare opportunity in their hands with these two guys. They have a great back story, they have managed to keep the heat throughout the rivalry, and they have shown the ability to put on good matches. Both are very talented and they compliment each other very well.

And furthermore, I don't think WWE will mess this one up! They have managed to space out Miz-Morrison matches since their breakup, and even though the two stars aren't constantly feuding (hell, they were on separate brands for a while) the feud picks up from where they left off.

I think Miz and Morrison may be done until after Mania. Morrison and Miz may have a fierce exchange inside the chamber at Elimination Chamber, but I predict Miz retains and Morrison exits the match fairly early, possibly eliminating Sheamus only to be RKO'd by Orton and be eliminated himself. I think maybe JoMo could win a Money in the Bank briefcase at Mania or at the the Money in the Bank PPV. If John Cena isn't back yet, I could see Morrison cashing in the briefcase at Wrestlemania before the match starts, making it a triple threat match between he, another wrestler (probably Orton) and Miz. If Cena is back, you'd have to assume he goes over the Miz at Mania, and then JoMo might be up to something different. Either way, Miz and Morrison are far from over.

It was a unique mix of style which worked very well. Morrison is very fast paced but has technical wrestling ability while Miz is a straight up brawler.

Once again, the reason this match was put on RAW was ratings. They are trying very hard to boost TV ratings. That's why they are putting pay per view style matches on TV. And that's why Edge is facing Kane in a pay per view style last man standing match on Smackdown. Ratings people. Ratings!

Oh I'm sure it's gonna happen again in the future and rightly so. John Morrison's been steadily pushed over the course of the past 4 months or so to see if he's ultimately got what it takes. When you look at his performance in his feud with Sheamus and against The Miz on Raw this past Monday, I can't possibly see how the WWE couldn't be impressed with what he's been putting out.

I suppose the uncertainty is a potential reason as to why they put that match on to kick off Raw rather than close it out. I think a good many of those fears had to be laid to rest because the match has been pretty much universally praised, the live crowd loved every second and both of them showed that they can be good physical wrestlers.

Miz v. Morrison was easily the best match on Raw last night. My Prediction is that by Wrestlemania next year, Morrison will have had a World Title Reign. I've been high on Morrison for a while and his feuds with Jericho and Sheamus were the proving grounds for him. I haven't gotten a ppv in a while but with this youth movement and the great matches being put on by the likes of Miz & Morrison and guys like Kofi & Dolph on SmackDown, we will have some great MEs for years to come.

The feud between these two has lost no steam since it dropped off and they both seemed to pick it right back up like it was nothing. Morrison showed on Raw he's here to stay and is ready for the main event scene. After seeing this match, I wish Morrison could've been added in some way to the title match at the Royal Rumble. No offense to Orton, as I wouldn't mind him in the title match at EC or WM27, but the RR was Morrisons and it's a shame he won't get to shine on ppv.

Miz did his job as the heel and took advantage of Morrison's mistakes. The crowd was way into the match and I don't think creative was expecting the match to go over so well. The backstory is there, and it may not be Rock vs Austin, but these two could go at it for years to come and I think that would be great to see.

I believe Morrison will pull awesome matches with pretty much anyone (and yes I'm including Khali). As for the Miz he was ok on monday but I still haven't seen the big match performance from him. I'm not bashing on the Miz, I hope he will be able to pull it off because these 2 have everything to became great nemesis.

The reason it was done on Monday Night Raw and not at the Royal Rumble is simply because that match, as good as the two competitors are, wouldn't draw very much. Orton and Cena are the draws on Raw and in the WWE, so it's fitting that Orton gets a chance at the Rumble and Morrison can have a solid showing in the Royal Rumble to catapult him into a potential breakthrough in 2011.

By the summer, this rivalry will be on fire and they could end up main eventing Summerslam. Or not. Who knows?
