Described as "31 Nights, 62 Artists, 1 Venue", the iTunes Festival takes place in London, every July and has done for the past 3 Years in it's current circumstance. I thought I'd make a Thread on this because it's interesting to me and I wanted to show the Americans and others who may not know about it, what it is.
Ok, so what happens, is on Facebook/Twitter/iTunes Festival Website, in the months before July (Starting around April), iTunes announce headline acts for every day on July, to perform on these nights. Every night, a different artist takes to the stage in a FREE Concert, usually with one or two support acts, making up your "62 Artists". So, "free", you say? Yes, the whole month is a month of Free Music. But how do you get to go? Well, on the iTunes Festival website, http://www.itunesfestival.com/,you can apply for Tickets for the artists you may want to see. Fortnightly in May & June, then daily in July, iTunes pick winners for certain concerts, emailing you the Tickets. You're allowed a +1, but no more. Then you go along, queue up, present your ticket and have a great night of Music. Now, in the 3 Years this event has been taking place, (2009, 2010, 2011), I've only ever won twice. Once in 2010, to see Pixie Lott and also once this year, to see Seasick Steve on the 2nd. The event takes place at the Camden Roundhouse.
Now, if you're a Brit and you don't know about this, it's a great opportunity, that's for sure. People describe it as "the best month for music in the UK" and a great experience. I know that it is. Below are the Line-Ups for July in 09, 10 & 11.

There, as you can see, very varied sets of Artists, something for everyone it can be said. But I want to ask a few questions.
If you're British.
1) Did you know about the iTunes Festival?
2) If you did and have applied for Tickets before, what have you won Tickets for? Did you go, enjoy it, or not?
If you're not from the UK
1) What do you think about this "Month of Music" for the Brits? Is it a good idea, or is it giving away too much?
2) Who on these lists catches your eyes the most, if you were to get tickets for their "Free Gig"?
