Inter means among or between. Intercontinental therefore means among or between continents. If everyone who holds the belt is from the same continent, I fail to see how that is intercontinental. I mean, William Regal is a former IC champion and - as far as I know - Kofi Kingston is the current IC champion.

We should hold a separate discussion on this.

Yes, but that is what the World title is for.

The WWE never has been very good with title divisions.

Which is why Rey was the World HEAVYWEIGHT champion.

Apparently, the ECW title is considered a world title but for me it would only be considered such if it was still in the hands of ECW the company and not just some shitty title on WWE that means absolutley nothing.

It's because when it was made it was unifying the North American and South American championships, making Patterson champion of two continents.

Didn´t they say that Patterson won the title in a tournament in Brazil but in reality there never was a tournament and they just gave it to him ?
