The Dragon Saga
Whale in a Teardrop
Got this from another forum from someones whose seen Elgin's interview. I've also read a more detailed synopsis but I'm going to watch it some time next week and don't want to know everything. This is the post on why Elgin says he was told he lost the ROH World Championship.
In the interview Elgin says the day before All Star Extravaganza VI he received an email, as ROH wrestlers always do, outlining how they wanted his match with Jay Briscoe to go, but at the end they didn't put in the finish and he knew then that he was losing the ROH World Championship. He sent them an email asking where the finish was and they (Delirious) responded, "we'll talk tomorrow".
Elgin arrived at Maple Leaf Gardens four hours before the show (as requested) and immediately had a meeting with three ROH officials, one being Delirious. They told him he was dropping the title to Jay Briscoe. When he asked why, they said it was because...
...he lost to Trevor Lee at Battle of Los Angeles.
Elgin's argument was/is, during a meeting with ROH management months beforehand when Adam Cole was champion, Delirious told Cole, "you aren't allowed to lose anywhere, the champion has to be protected, except for PWG." Elgin never asked but felt that the same applied to him. Elgin was at this time also trying to get ROH to bring Trevor Lee in and Delirious had even told him that he'd keep his eye on him and if he felt Lee had improved by the time the Top Prospect Tournament came around he'd bring him in.
When Elgin called Delirious out on this, Delirious denied it - Elgin does say he thinks Delirious may not have remembered, but either way, stood his ground. Elgin left the office, got his bag from the changing room and changed out in the hallway because he, "felt betrayed". ROH ask all talent to stay back until all events conclude, usually so they can make sure all talent make it back to the hotel safely, but Elgin left.
Elgin says at the end that ROH have threatened him with legal action because of his contract, he says that they are paying him IN FULL, not a fraction as reported, but he's getting his full wage (he also said he's in the top 5 earners in the promotion and that if people think that's not a lot of money he has been told hes making 2x what Davey Richards is making in TNA because Davey told him [Davey might get in trouble for that]). If he doesn't show up to the Lakeland, Florida TV taping, Elgin thinks ROH will sue him. He says that ROH owe him $32,000 in expenses from his time left stranded in Canada, and when the interviewer says, "but didn't they get you back into the US?", Elgin says, "so what?"
It's a very interesting interview and actually has me thinking this entire ordeal may not be as much of a work as many think.
