The Dude Always Walked

Jason X....so awful. And still so enjoyable. I laugh everytime that guy gets killed by a giant corkscrew. I liked the sleeping bag kill in part 7 better then in this one though.

Awful films are the best. Fuck the latest Will Ferrell comedy, I'll pop in Troll 2 or Ghoulies instead and laugh twice as hard.

I bought Ghoulies the other day actually. I left it exposed to sun in my car. If that DVD works then I'll be very surprised.

So I recently sat down and watched an old "Friday the 13th" horror movie.

I absolutely love horror flicks and believe the "Friday the 13th" series is one of the best accumulations of horror flicks ever.

But why did Jason always catch people by walking ?? It didn't matter how fast they ran or if they took off in a car, dude always walked and caught the fuckers.

Just curious.

Watch part 3. He ran in part 3.

He also ran in Part 2. He was a wild crazy motherfucker with a bag on his head in part 2. I love me some Part 2, best wheelchair death ever. With the possible exception of the reporter in Manhunter of course.

Okay, because elsewise I was about to burn my Save Jake cutoff t-shirt. But now I can put it back on.

Manhunter > Red Dragon, all day, and all night. Fuck Anthony Hopkins, Tom Noonan is without a doubt the creepiest Hannibal Lecter ever. Strangely enough, my uncle's name is Tom Noonan...

Please immediately red-rep me to death for mistaking the characters. Always confuse Lecter and the serial-killer.

Gary Oldman is the man. If you haven't seen State of Grace, rent that shit immediately. Amazing flick with an awesome cast of Oldman, Sean Penn, Ed Harris, John Turturro and John C. Reilly. Harris, Penn & especially Oldman are fuckin' brilliant in it. Stop reading and rent it now.

Gary Oldman has given up. He only does shit films now. He does what The Rock does. Be the best thing is an awful movie.

See for me, the best death is his first victim in the autopsy room. Drags her across the room by her hair, and then dunks her face in the cryogenic sink 'til her face freezes solid, and then smashes her face against the side of the table, leaving about 1/3 of her head in tact. Be-yootiful.

The twist is that it's actually set before Friday the 13th. Or is it?

Nope! It does state that it's like 2015 at the beginning of the film. And plummeting through the atmosphere of a planet isn't going to make you travel over 1000 years back in time and revert back to being a mentally handicapped 10 year old now is it? But then again, he does age like 15 years between Part 1 and Part 2 when they're only supposed to be about a year apart. I's set after Freddy v Jason, despite being filmed and released several years before.

Sorry for ruining Jason X for you, everybody.

I'm sure robo-Voorhees would have done that anyway.

Surely TDK is an exception to that rule. Regardless of your feelings for the film as a whole, i wouldn't say that Oldman's Gordon was even on the same level as Eckhart's Dent. But everything else, yeah.....

Pfffft, Iron Man is great, but TDK is the best superhero movie ever. It should've been a bit shorter, especially at the ending, but the ending itself isn't as shit as you guys make it out to be. What more did you want?

The opening scene of TDK though is probably one of my favorite I've ever seen in any movie. Right away it lets you know this isn't like any other Batman movie you've ever seen. Best opening scene of all time though is probably Reservoir Dogs, that opening walk/title sequence with "Little Green Bag" playing is just the epitome of cool.

I'm glad we agree.

Edit: And let's not forget about X2 and Spider-Man 2. They were pretty good, especially the former.

I wanted less. Cut out the shitty boat scenes with their shitty acting, for one. As for more, well, some more Joker would have been nice. I anti-climaxed in my pants.

No. Pulp Fiction. The opening scene is alright, but it just feels so unoriginal.

Yeah the death boat scenes weren't exactly great, but that's just the kind of junk filler that every action movie has, even the absolute best. TDK overall though is brilliant.

You don't like the opening scene to Reservoir Dogs? Maybe you're just not a George Baker fan. That opening titles sequence sends the chills up my spine every time.

And of course it's unoriginal, that's Tarantino's thing. He borrows from a handful of movies to create something great in his own way.

It's amazing, you make me hate you (disrespecting Anthony Hopkins in such a way, you bad boy) and love you in the same thread. Jason X was classic theatre shlock, I saw it 3 times in theatres and own the DVD.

Death scenes in Jason X > Death Scenes in Freddy vs Jason. Much more realistic, more slow, and less CGI'd. The scene in FvJ when he turns the guys head around seemlessly, and the guy's head blinks - so ******ed - and the spritzing blood? Thats supposed to be Japanese kung fu effects, but it's the equivalent of shaking up a can of soda and puncturing it. Makes no sense at all.

The scene with the liquid nitrogen face smash is still an all time fave.

Most painful scene in the Friday the 13th series, though? Surprisingly part five when the fake Jason uses the leather strap against the tree and crushes the guy's skull.

And little know fact about the Part 7 sleeping bag scene - originally Jason was supposed to whack her against the tree 5 or 6 times, but it was cut to one to avoid an NC-17. Notwithstanding the fact that he TECHNICALLY made sleeping bag impact with where the girl's feet had been, yet still cracked her head.

Oh well.
