The Damn Spear

Wow...I can't believe what I'm hearing from most of you. =/

Edge can not pull a decent spear, because it looks like he lacks the power. IMO Goldberg and Rhyno were the best when it came to the spear. That's it. Everyone who uses it now is either slow (Lashley, Batista) or not powerful enough (Edge). It's really ridiculous to think a barely-heavyweight Edge could use a such a move as a finisher. Goldberg and Rhyno were pros when it came to that.


I don't like the move anyway, but I just had to state a sensible input. =/

agreed, i dont know where u ppl see edge doing a good spear, i guess its because most of u like him =/, i get it, but come on, his spear looks so weak.. edge lacks a lot of power..

and though many ppl dont like goldberg, u have to admit he did an awsome spear, but comes in second cuz no1 can do a better spear than rhyno, its just sick, and nowadays when he does it to aj it looks like it kills him everytime (also thanks to aj for selling it so well).

anyway, edge, batista, lashley, none of them can do it right, and i agree its getting overused... there should be only 1 person that uses the spear, too bad they dont have any1 that can pull it off right now

Rhyno of course did the best Spear/Gore.He just had so much spped and it looked like he had more power behind it.Edge does not do a good spear in my opinion.It looks like he puts no power into it.For sure though the move is kind of overused.

Rhyno greatest spear all time no doubt about it hurt just to watch him gore the hell out of somebody...the move now is overused too much in the WWE and Lashleys spear is bad cause when he speared Cena it looked like shit he should stick to somethin else...Edge's is the best imo he really gets the crowd into before he takes off..he puts alot of power into it its not great but its the best in the WWE right now...and i dont why in the hell Batista does the spear what ever happened to the Batista Bomb his spear is weak

Lashley is a copy cat Boreista and anyway no body is built like proper specification for the Spear. It should be done by someone like Rhino whos fast but very muscular (trying not to sound gay). Where as Boreista is to muscular and slow, Booby Lashley is just plain boring and crap and cant pull it off, edge is to small to pull it off as a finisher, Goldberg sometimes did it good but most of the time it wasnt done properly and anyway he used the jackhammer as his main finisher unlike BOOBY EDGE AND BOREISTA

the spear is definetely being overused. i dont think that batista should use the spear. batista should just stick to the spinebuster and the batista bomb becuz when he uses the spear it just looks horrible.

edge i think has the best spear in the wwe. i like how he crouches down in the corner first becuz that gets your attention and then BAM he hits the spear. edge's spear is definetely awesome.

i always love seeing rhino gore someone becuz he makes it look like it literally broke them in half. when he gores someone you just know that they are out.

now when it comes to lashley, i think his spear is ok but he need to fine-tune it becuz right now it doesn't look too devastating. oh and does anyone know why lashley stopped using the dominator?

I agree with everyone who says that the spear is over used in the WWE. Goldberg by far had the best spear. He broke a couple of the rocks ribs at 1 of their Wrestlemania matches. I don't think Batista can move fast enough to make the spear hurt that bad. Dont get me wrong i like batista but u have to be able to move quick to make the spear effective.

I agree with everyone who said Rhino's spear is the best. He's just so compact and aggressive and he looks like he wants to break you. It just works for him. And does anyone remember when he speared Jericho through the Smackdown set? Ow!

As far as Edge goes, I think it works for him too. He's been doing it a long time and whoever mentioned the crouching adding to the effect of it or whatever was right too.

Not a fan of anyone else doing it... especially Lashley. I cringe when I see him do it.

Thes easy way to think about it is this. Out of the 5 guys who use the spear, who has screwd up the least? Rhino! and his spear looks the most powerful and looks like it has the msot impact behind it! I have seem do gore seval people through tables, sets, off sets etc and it just does look like it hurts. Every one konws batista n lashleys spears are p*ss poor, they dnt even hit them.

Edge's is good, yes, it isn't very powerful but he gets the crowd involved and that move made an impact, Goldbergs spear were average at best, the vitcim had to oversell most of the time to give it any credability

the difference between spears by edge,rhino,goldberg, batista, and bobby lashley is that goldberg and rhinos are meant to destroy people and edges is about anticipation and getting the crowd involved and batista and bobby lashleys are just fall back moves because there other finishers have gotten stale

As was said the spear is a typical football move; with that said its GOLDBERG who has/had the best spear, by far! Goldberg made the spear; what it is today. I know you Rhyno fanbabies are gonna argue; that he's been doing his longer, but ECW wasnt really televised all that long, so the mainstream didn't really know ECW or who the hell Rhyno was. Goldberg used that move and sold it; in his first match. Without it; Goldberg would've been nothing. Just like SCSA and the Stunner.

The spear is an overused move, when Edge does it its cool cuz he builds up to it and gets the crowd pumped, But wen Lashley and Batista use it it's too plan, and its a football move yeah, so Goldberg made it lok good. And Edge's spear is more like SCM it's ment to get the fanz behind them or against depending on if there face or heel

i think the only ppl that should be using the spear is edge and rhino. my reason is that both of them do it perfectly and have alotta experience to use it. lashley should stick to his original finisher, the dominator and i mean the inverted powerslam, not the running powerslam. he should use spear to like knock big guys he cant lift down. batista just started using it recently and has enuff power to take a big guy down. besides he doesnt even use it as a finisher. goldberg maybe bc he was like the first person ever to use the spear but he hits them wit his head, not shoulder like ur suppose to

I'll never forget a specific time when Rhyno gored the hell out of the Rock. We all know how well the Rock sells moves, hell he made the Stone Cold Stunner look devastating as hell. Lashley isn't garbage, he just needs to drop the mic, and just get to destroying folks. Don't say nothing, just destroy...like the good 'ol masked Kane used to do.

What the hell is going on with everyone using this move? The Spear worked with Goldberg and thats where it should have stopped. Right Now, Bobby Lashley, Edge, and Batista are all using this move as a finisher.

First of all, The spear as a finisher does not work for Edge because he is not big enough. It does not sell move well. He should use it, but not to get the 1 2 3 Edge should use his DDT or his Leg Lock as finishers. (I can't Remember the names, I think its the Edgecution and the Edgacator)

As for Lashley, He is big enough and quick enough to use it, But I think it should be the move that leads up to his Real Finisher (ala Goldberg)

Batista needs to just quit using the move altogether, he is slower than the other two and it just does not look right.

O I have to agree that certain moves worked well with certain people. I think the spear worked with goldberg because it felt real to the audience when he did it. This has a lot to do with the fact that he use to be a pro football player. So he was a specialist in this field. Part of wrestling is being able to sell and sad to say some people can't sell moves as well as others. The spear was designed for goldberg because he's use to tackling people. You have to be the right kind of person to do certain moves and believe me, a prime example of this is rey mysterio trying to spear someone and getting laughed at because it's so obviously fake when he does it. Another thing I'd like to mention about moves selling is that some moves just can't sell no matter who's doing them. Certain acrobatic moves are so unrealistic that you'd have to be silly to think that they would be plausible in a real situation. I think some guys just overdue it in the ring to the point of things becoming silly and thus I can’t stand to watch it anymore and have to change the channel.

The spear wasn't created for Goldberg, Edge was doing it before him and it would be a close tie to see who was doing it first Edge or Rhyno. Rhyno's spear was harder since he's fat and compact but Edges spear is perfect. He sets up in the corner waiting and he has the right speed and height to really hit his opponent good if the opponent can sell it which seems to be the problem. HBK sold it perfect but I've seen some get hit and just look stupid but thats their fault not Edge's. I remember HHH used it a few times and it was annoying thank god the Game doesn't use it anymore. Lashley and Batista probably have the two ugliest spears in the game today. Goldbergs spear was cool but basic and I just never really liked it seeing as how in every match you were garenteed to see the damn move.
