The cost of a hamburger...

Excellence of Execution
Let's say that the government demands that no one has to pay more than a dollar for a hamburger and then turns around and gives everyone a dollar. The hamburger supplier cannot supply EVERY a hamburger for a dolllar because the laws of suppy and demand says that the great quantity supplied, the greater the cost. Therefore, now only 50% of the people will get a hamburger OR the price will go up for the hamburger--take your pick.

I love the stupid people on CNN. The sad thing is this person actually tried defending her position numerous times, until even she had to admit how stupid she sounded. And yes, she is a Republican.

I'm sensing a pattern here on your feelings toward Republicans.

Only the stupid ones. There are concepts about the traditional Republican party that I like, but so many Republican voters are just stupid.

And don't get me wrong, so many Democrat voters are just stupid. It just so happens the platforms on which Republicans currently stand are simply asinine.

So what happens if the new price for the hamburger is below the market price? Won't that result in less production in hamburgers anyhow?

It was a comparison to the Affordable Healthcare Act, which says insurance premiums cannot be more than 9% of a person's gross income.

Hmm... price controlled government hamburgers. Well, what would those burgers be like? Probably something like the absolute bottom of the barrel dollar menu garbage from McDonalds. Nobody will bother making a high quality burger, there will be no reason to. Hamburgers will all become the cheapest food product possible will still being able to technically call it a hamburger. No thank you. I will gladly pay more for a hamburger made out of higher quality beef, made the way I like it, in a bigger portion than a dollar would get me. You get what you are willing to pay for, and there is a huge difference between a dollar burger from McD's and a 13 dollar burger at a steakhouse. I choose to keep the option to buy the 13 dollar burger. But this isn't about hamburgers, its obviously just an analogy. Without looking it up, my guess is that it was related to Obamacare, but that's just a hunch.

It was and wasn't. It was talking about the costs, not the quality. And it wasn't my scenario, it was hers. I'm all for great hamburgers.

Shouldn't the Republican analogy be that if the gov't gives everyone a dollar, everyone will spend it on crack?

Hamburger and healthcare, not exactly in the same basket of products and behaviors.

I can understand she's trying to address the problems with Obamacare by explaining the laws of supply and demand. The problem is it sounds like she came to a fork in the road that says "Making sense to the right" then she made a hard left.
