The Conundrum of Edge

What they f*ck happened in the thread section here

While his one on one with a laptop maybe entertaining, there's no denying that this man's storyline is heading through a mist.

Talks of him being drafted to SD! are under discussion but having already feuded with almost all the top dogs what lies next for this former 9 time World Champion.

The title scene is screwed shut with Taker and Kane, a feud with Christian is now blown for atleast 6 months.

Personally I would like his to stay on Raw( with Jericho gone, they need a top heel) and start a rivalry with Daniel Bryan.
These two could work a good program and just the kinda feud that
would push Bryan and give Edge a stab at some new rivalries because honestly he has really feuded with everybody.

hasn't he?

EDGE is being wasted on RAW....he did have an impactful debut on RAW when he speared orton...but then the writers have no idea on what to do with him(which is indeed a shame)I personally wud have loved to see him fued with Randy Orton a lil longer....The anonymous GM(or LiLo) will punish EDGE for his actions this coming week which leads to The Rated R Superstar leaving the company in frustration nd SD GM offering him a contract with a guaranteed championship match nd asking him to lead team SD in the Bragging Rights PPV...
Now with Christian out and Mysterio requesting for a break and Fatt Hardy is on the verge of being fired from the company...SD needs a top draw...and EDGE is the only superstar that comes in mind on leading the SD locker room....
we've seen in the past how EDGE carried the SD brand on his shoulders...we can see the Taker-Kane fued end by Survivor Series but then what next...it cud either be Kane or Taker be out of the show for a few months...now EDGE can feud with The Big Show,Kofi Kingston or even MVP...a face run cud also be given a try for EDGE
It wud not be surprising to see EDGE leave RAW and join the SD roster

If there were more heels on RAW I would love to see Edge turn and go into a fued with Ted Dibiase, possibly over the Million Dollar Belt?

However with the lack of major player heels I can not see this happening, the only other thing I can see happening is a Zack Ryder/Edge fued just from the build up over the last few weeks.

i would LOVE to see Edge stay on Raw. I'll be the first to say that I mark out hard fore Edge. Heel or Face.

I think a face turn, and a feud with possibly The Miz would work. Due to Edge being 2 time MITB winner, and The Miz being the current holder.

The Miz is more of a Heel Draw right now than Edge is, IMO. and a tweener/face edge could work a good program.

Which could put him BACK in the WWE title scene. Just a thought

There's a problem in your statement about Chris Jericho disappearing causing RAW to loose a top heel. Chris is a top heel, but they don't need one. They still have Sheamus and The Nexus getting great reactions from the crowd.

However, I would really prefer watching Edge return to Smackdown. There's plenty of people to feud with, such as Rey Mysterio, Big Show and some of the mid-carders. There's plenty of potential for Edge to thrive, without challenging for the world title.

Also, Edge is pretty much the type of guy lost in the shuffle on RAW. Certainly he gets the time he needs, however it's obvious there's better choices than Edge to do the interesting title feuds as of late. Sheamus, Randy Orton, John Cena, Wade Barrett and perhaps a returning Triple H. A lot of people needing to challenge for the title, where as Smackdown has: Undertaker, Kane, Rey Mysterio and Big Show at a proper position to challenge for it. Balancing it would be done by moving Edge over.

So, while I wouldn't mind seeing Edge stay on RAW, I don't see why we shouldn't move him to Smackdown. And I wouldn't complain about him being moved either.

For the past couple of months, all I've seen Edge do is sing songs with Julian, those comedic acts with Zach Ryder (these were actually sort of funny) and he was just the filler for every PPV.

Chris is definitely the best heel on RAW, now that he's gone, (I'm assuming) we have Edge (I think...), Sheamus and The Nexus. Why don't we have Edge move over to SD! and feud with younger stars, mid carders. Instead of him being lost on RAW, you can have him be superior on SD! without the title picture. Hell, Christian is coming back in about 4-6 months, so Edge can either join up as a tag team with him, or feud with him. 4-6 months go by quickly since there is approximately only 4 SD! shows a month.

I don't get it.

Seriously, I don't. Edge, as always, has been brilliant. Mild love handles notwithstanding, he is able to do something that so few others (Jericho and Angle come to mind) have been able to do - be a comedic heel with a legit shot to be champ on any night AND get legit heat.

Edge's work with the laptop on Monday night was a testament to the guy's work ethic the way Tom Hanks was brilliant in Castaway. Put aisde the goofy voice of the laptop - which one would think should render Michael Cole useless - and realize that Edge had an entertaining, plot-advancing spot with an inanimate object on Monday night.

The best part of this is, it gives him options. The very options some of you are claiming he is devoid of.

Let's say the General Manager is eventually revealed to be a babyface. Edge's heel work against said General Manager will be fun to watch, as he talks about being screwed by a guy hiding behind a computer. Let's say the GM ends up being a heel - you can either put Edge in cahoots with him (like it was a plan the entire time) or turn Edge face.

Put the draft aside also - how much heat would this "anonymous" GM earn by trading Edge to Smackdown for, say, Drew McIntrye, CM Punk, or Christian?

Ferbian hits the nail on the head - there isn't a great deal of space atop the Raw roster for heels, so Edge being in this anti-GM role allows him to remain on TV, stay relevant, and let other storylines play out. Edge, being the consummate professional, is turning it into value.

I think Edge to Smackdown would be great. He could start a rivalry with Punk. I'm sick of the whole Punk and Big Show, and the Luke Gallows thing sucks. Punk and Edge would have great matches and I could listen to the two of them just insult each other all night long.

I might be the only one who wants to see it.... but I'd eventually love to see an Edge Vs CM Punk feud for the title. I think they would have good chemistry together with Edge being pedantic and comedic in regards to Punk's life choices.

Well I guess I'm not the only one - I should reload before I post. *smiles*

Punk Vs Edge FTW!

I think that Edge has done everything and achieve everything he can on SD! I thought at first he had a bright future on RAW. But aparrently, the writers only cares about storylines invloving Cena and Orton. Or this GM "feud" can be something good, but I doubt it

On SD! I can only see him in either way: he can give his carrer to put over young talent (Ziggler, Kofi, Drew-Dashing...) or he could make a return that only Edge knows how to "shock the world". So in order to end the feud between Taker and Kane for the WHC he could interfere a match and basically steal the title.

But then what? I think that he can do alot more on RAW that on SD! It is up now to the creative tema if this "feud" with the GM is going anywhere interesting.

I thought about this. I really did.
If the GM turns out to be Triple H, it's a great deal, because that was the feud Edge was supposed to have before he got injured. It would be a first time full blown feud between the two, and really should culminate into a match at WrestleMania, no other stage would be perfect.

As Ferbian alluded to here, there are, let's say, fresher faces in the title picture scene. Barrett, can never say a bad word about the guy, the man just has a presence about himself, and Sheamus, by god that fella has grown on me, great in-ring mentality, great expressions; both are great talent and will definitely go the distance.

My only problem being if the GM isn't someone like Hunter but turns out to be ...I dunno Micheal Cole, then what??
I think Rev and Scruff hit the nail on the head that the best feud then would be Punk vs Edge.
These two could work a great programme, and f*ck it don't turn either face, let the audience decide who to cheer for, and I guarantee dueling chants for both the gentlemen.

But if he has to stay on Raw...Zack Ryder?! I dunno about that

As I said in another threat, HHH returning as the GM to feud with Edge totally ignores the angle of Sheamus "ending" his career, which would be incredibly foolish. I wouldn't put it past Creative to fuck that up, but given that Sheamus keeps reminding everyone of that, I highly doubt that Edge's destruction of a laptop would be a more important storyline. Let it go, people.

As for Edge, I had a thought for a feud he could enter into on Smackdown. The fact is, he's been getting great pops lately, and having him be a tweener or a face is a likely possibility. If moved to Smackdown, I could see there being a possibility that he feuds with Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio just put Christian out of action (kayfabe), and Edge could feasibly say that despite recent differences, he doesn't like how Del Rio did that to someone who was once a close friend. It has the potential to not only put Edge into a good program, but it could be a good feud to put Del Rio over as a top heel who is worthy of the main event, which they seem to want to do, given that his first match was a clean win over Rey.

Get his ass back on Smackdown, while he may not be in the title picture straight away, he could have some good feuds with CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, and he may even put over the younger guys like Kofi, Del Rio, or Ziggler. The thing is that he can play either face or heel. Raw are not in need of a heel, they have Sheamus, and the Nexus. Edge is in no way the top heel right now.

I don't know about you guys, but lately I had just not been very interested in Edge. I felt that his character had grown stale recently and that he needed a gimmick change or a face turn to really freshen him up.

Well, last night we got a possibility of both, and I love it. The segment last night where he totally trashed Swagger's eagle, calling it "stupid" had me rolling, especially with Swagger's over-the-top screams of "You hit my eagle! That's my eagle!". I think that this could be a fantastic turn for Edge, being a one-man crusade to rid the WWE of stupidity. He could interrupt bad segments involving heels and trash them with his excellent mic skills before spearing them. It would be incredibly entertaining, if you ask me.

The best part about this is that it could easily work as a main event gimmick or just a funny moment in the show. It all depends on who he interrupts.

Smackdown move or not, it doesn't matter anymore. This is exactly what Edge needed and I hope they continue with it. Edge is getting on in years and injuries and honestly I don't find him very entertaining as a champion.

So, tell me: Do you think this could be a possible gimmick change/face turn? If so, do you think this is a good idea?

Do you think this could be a possible gimmick change/face turn? If so, do you think this is a good idea?

Gimmick change? Absolutely not. I don't see how Edge could change his gimmick when it seems like he's involved in a somewhat hunt for stupidity. Exactly how they plan on handling it, I don't exactly know. But I don't see a gimmick change.

Also, I don't see a face turn. Because, well Edge attacked the computer this week. The computer is obviously a face, and Edge has been going at some of the faces as of late. Sure he attacked Jack Swagger's maskot last night, and tried to attack Jack Swagger. However, that just brings me to another assumption.

Perhaps they're trying to make him a tweener? Attacking the computer, as well as attacking Jack Swagger could explain a tweener turn if anything. A face turn would leave him doing very little on RAW, considering the heels are already busy, and he couldn't possibly be put into putting over some of the mid-carders. Because, the only mid-carder to put over is John Morrison of the faces, and.. No thanks.. Just no thanks.

Tweener leaves him with a good bunch of things to do. The mid-carders, as well as some back and forth stuff with pretty much anybody in the main event. Still, however like I mentioned in my first reply in this thread - I see a draft moment rather than anything.

Um, maybe a tweener role ? But, he's already a tweener. For example: He went against the Nexus, he got cheered, he went against Cena, he got boo'ed. To me, it seems like he's getting more cheers than boo's. But, I bet if he were to go up against say, Randy Orton, he would get boo'd.

If WWE moves him over to SD!, he actually has many possibilities. Although, I don't see a gimmick change Doc, just because I think he should just stay the way he is now. He's not Rated-R anymore. I think they should just keep calling him the Ultimate Opportunist. He can be face, heel or keep being a tweener. Doesn't matter. He's a perfect blend of a funny, smart, heel-ish-tweener guy. I don't have a problem with Edge, other than WWE just using him as a filler on RAW. But then again, that's not Edge's problem. It's WWE's.

Send Edge to Smackdown to work with CM Punk. The whole "getting rid of everything stupid" actually is decent. A feud with Swagger and his self-absorbed nonsense could be worked nicely. With a face Edge and heel Swagger, both among the best in-ring on SD, it could develop well over time, assuming it's not a short few month ordeal. Edge, the rockstar he is, taking on CM Punk and his straightedge lifestyle would also interest me. A lot of great microphone work could come out of it too.

Whoever mentioned the lost in the shuffle on Raw above, I agree 100%. Just too many other things going on for him to be involved, especially committed to something big.

EDIT - Edge on SD with either of the above scenerios could buy a lot of time for, say, a Christian return. They also feud for a good while, and could potentially FINALLY elevate Christian to the main event after getting over from working with a (former) main event guy. It'd also help him ease back into things from returning from injury. With two people having such great chemistry, it'd be hard to mess it up.
