The Chris Benoit Situation

The Crippler Chris Benoit. He is considered one of the best technical wrestlers in WWE history. My question is, will the WWE ever put him back in the main event spotlight? The man is obvioulsy well over with the crowds; at nearly every show he gets a huge pop.

Will he ever be World Champion again, or is the US title all he has left?

They should just switch Batista with Benoit. The fan's love him despite his lack of charisma, not that Batista's got much either. With Smackdown being The Wrestling Show of WWE it would make sence to have him as world champ. Unfortunatley I dont see him as world champ again unless there's suddenly a huge injury crisis like there was when they made J.B.L. champ.

Well this one speaks for itself. In terms of technical wrestling ability is Chris Benoit the very best of the best in the WWE. I personally beleive that right now, apart from a very select few, he is the only pure wrestler in the WWE. He is the one guy that could bring prestege back to the title. Without him I dont think the WWE could have the 'wrestling' in their name. Any comments?

Chris Benoit has been my favorite wrestler since he joined the FOur Horsemen teaming with Dean Malenko, and I do think pound for pound he is the best technical wrestler the WWE has at this time, if not the past six years (Kurt Angle Debateable), but to say he's the "only one" to bring prestege back to the title... I have to disagree. He'd make a great Champion and I hope they give it back to him soon, but you have HBK, Undertaker, Rey, HHH, Finley, uh, I think thats it. All have the ability to bring prestege back to any of the titles. They're styles are different, but they are in my opinion the only true champions WWE has right now, that can bring prestege to the title.

If the WWE Is smart, they'd make him champ again. Let's look at way... He can make anyone look good in the ring, He's more than capable of giving 5 star matches, he well respected in the wrestling community, the fans love him, they screwed him out of his first title reign (my opinion, Randy Orton defeat Benoit...PLEASE!!!), who do they have right now that can deliver "every night". Batista, ha. Taker, good choice but age is catching up to him, King Booker, if went back to Harlem Heat Booker T not WWE Booker T. Rey, good choice. Finley, maybe.

Chris Benoit is a great wrestler and deserves the title at least for a couple of months, but their are more people who deserve the title as well, like Shelton Benjamin, Undertaker, HBK, and Mr. Kennedy. What I would like to see would be to have The Undertaker, Mr. Kennedy, and Chris Benoit have a three way fued, because they are the best wrestlers on Smackdown, and all deserve the title for a lenghty amount of time.

Regal, is very impressive technical wise too, he's the only thing us Brits have got. Screw David Taylor...or whatever his name is...

Anyway, I wouldn't say he is the best wrestler in the WWE..perhaps in terms of the ability of his technicality in the ring and his dedication to his sport which has got him where he is now.

Chris Benoit is definitely the best technical wrestler in WWE, but HBK is the best in-ring performer in WWE right now...I've always enjoyed Benoit's work though; he has been involved in some the best matches in WWE over the last 6 years, including the best Triple Threat match ever (WM 20).

I think Benoit definitely has another World title run left in him, though...The only the problem is, Benoit isn't a guy who you are going to draw huge PPV buyrate figures with, even though he can have a better match than just about anyone in WWE right now, the WWE marks who don't have a clue (i.e. Cena, Batista, and Lashley fans) want to see bigger wrestlers...In other words, they're gey....Honestly, I am baffled as to why anyone would pay $30 to watch Batista wrestle on PPV, but WHATEVER!!!!...ANYWAYZZZ...I think I'll go cuddle up with a blanket and watch some real wrestling. Namely ROH, NOAH and Dragon's Gate...LOL

I think that injuries will gradually creep in on Benoit and he is definitely past his prime now. The mid card picture is all he is ever going to accomplish now in the WWE, so a stint with TNA could do him wonders and we would all like to see Benoit vs Angle one more time. His talents are useless in the WWE now and I would get the hell out of there if I was still him as he has way too much talent going wasted at the moment. He deserves better than being US champion, but talent doesn't count for everything in today's WWE, and that is put behind marketing ability every time.

I still think that down the line Benoit will get a another title rifgin but sadley if he did i see him maybe have a short reign even possible a transitional regin which be a slap in the face of benoit for all he has given to the WWE. Thing is if they did put the strap back on Benoit espically he being a face who would be facing as in defending it...Booker maybe, Finley and that be a good matches, i mean Smackdown is lacking good heels with skills Kennedy is getting there and MVP is no where near that..so i really doubt but it be great

He's probably the best wrestler, but not the best Sport's Entertainer. And that's what WWE's all about. If it was about wrestling quality Regal, Benoit and Finlay would be headlining Wrestle Mania. Unfortunatley that's not the case. It's all about charisma and look's. So in WWE term's Cena and Batista are what they look for so there probably the best.

Well i think you can throw Rey in once awhile in the pciture it is just that if hefaces anyone who is too mucha heavyweight he can really wrestle with them.

Back to Benoit, i feel he should go heel least if he went heel he oudl face taker after WM or some how Batista wins faces him s Benoit as a heel be nice to see as he can have a mean streak...but i dunno future looks bad for Benoit in WWE

Downward spiral, I disagree. Benoit draws, with the right fued and how much time creative put into the fued. The only reason his first title didn't go as well as it should have for him, is because it was based on HHH getting the title back, and not on the champion. The never gave him a chance. The Rabid wolverines main function is that of a hunter. They need to turn Bastista heel and have benoit chase after the title. This may be Bastista's last chance at a good match/ fued. The fans love to see Benoit as the underdog and accomplish the unthinkable.

I'd love to see Benoit with the title again, he appears nearly every week on Smackdown and always puts ona good show. But as has already been mentioned; it's all about entertainment. I'd love to see Benoit, Regal and Finlay as more than mid-carders, but I doubt it'll happen.

As everyone has already stated, Benoit is the best technical wrestler on SmackDown!, and it's a damn shame that he's being held down so bad. What I think they should do with Benoit is have him lose the US Title, float around for a couple months, and then put him back in the World Title hunt.

What I thikn should happen is Undertaker should go over Batista at Wrestlemania, maybe have a rematch at the next PPV with Taker going over again, and then have a Taker/Benoit feud. I don't think I've ever seen these two have a match against each other, and it would be a good way to a.) bring Benoit back to where he belongs and b.) to bring prostege back to the World Heavyweight Title. This would truly make SmackDown! better than Raw, and make WWE worth watching again.

I don't think a move to TNA would do Benoit any good, the only person he could really feud with over there is Angle.

I think he could do well with a World Heavyweight title reign somewhere down the line this year, I mean Taker'll be leaving soon and Smackdown lacks real champions after that. After Benoit there's only really Kennedy, Undertaker and Kane around that I would see as a good champion.

I'd like to see Benoit feud with Kane or Kennedy but I think they're both going different places. Rumour has it Kane will feud with Khali and I'm sure they'll keep pushing Kennedy into the ECW Title scene. Kennedy's wasted there.

Benoit'll feud with MVP for the US Title and I'd like to see him lose it, then go for the real gold.

As far as I'm concerned Benoit has no future in WWE. I have no doubt that he could earn what he does in WWE if he worked in Japan. He's WWE's greatest wrestler and yet they do precisley fuck all with him. The U.S. Title mean's shit. Having no charisma is no excuse because Batista's got non either and The Undertaker does'nt require to be charismatic.

I think it just shows he has no future if he is the US Champion and can't even get on the freaking show. He deserves way better than what he is getting and like you said Jake, he could be earning the same, if not more, from being in a company where his skills will be rewarded. His career is being wasted and it is a shame to one of the best wrestlers of our generation. Just because he is not 300 pounds, that shouldn't mean that he doesn't get pushed. Fact is, he could be building up any division, even the US Title division, but he needs to be going for that World Title because he is very deserving of it and should be given one last go with it.

He performs better than nearly all other wrestlers in the WWE today, and that is even when he has lost all passion for it, which he has. He should be getting as far away from the WWE as he can because there are companies that will clearly put him where he belongs. He deserves better and it is a disgrace that the WWE is treating him like crap.

Hold on a second there, Benoit leaving the company isn't what I had in mind. However, i agree that he should not be stuck in the mid-card division. Unfortunately, The Animal Batista currently monopolizes that spot, and isn't going anywhere as of now

Benoit is 10000000000000x better than Batista, but face facts. Batista sells more than Benoit. For some unknown reason, the good wrestlers are forced back behind the steroid packed freaks. Its not gonna happen.
